Here is the right-to-the-point review I posted at Amazon.com:
This had great potential but ended up being repetitive and far too long. I lost interest many times and ended up skimming a lot of it. Hopefully the author will take the constructive criticism from this book and apply it to her next book.

This book ended up being extremely frustrating for me. I was delighted with the first 15%-20% or so. I so

5 I'm-in-Reader-Subspace Stars

I like military/SWAT books.

I really like BDSM books.

And I LOVE M/M books.

So a man-love BSDM SWAT book?

*shudder*

This book was great.

Was it probably too long? Probably.

Was is a little bit redundant? A little bit.

Was it extremely circuitous at times? Yup. A lot of times.

But would I change anything about it? HELL NO.

It's been a while since I read a book with so much relationship development. In so many books the main couple get together for a hot minute, drama ensue

***2.75 Stars***

Between the blurb and cover, I couldn't wait to start this one!

And then I did....

and I finally finished. This book was sooooooo loooooong, and it honestly didn't need to be. The author could have easily trimmed down about 150-200 pages and we would have had the same story and same emotion....but instead we get 500+ pages of a lot of "rinse and repeat."

It was too repetitive and.....GASP.....had way too much sex! I was skimming sex scenes for cock's sake!!

I really have issues with BDSM books where:

(1)The supposed sub knows nothing about BDSM but the Dom keep making overt demands, like "keep your arms here", "Did I say you could touch me", etc. and the "sub" is trying to figure out why he likes being told what to do (2) As soon as the Dom brings up BDSM and the "sub" agrees, he is almost super sub from hour 1, has no problem with calling the Dom "Sir" or being on his knees, or knowing when to look down.
(3) The author makes the Dom/sub part so un

Boy, was I excited for this one. The hot cover, equally hot blurb with SWAT and BSDM in one, definitely had the makings of a hot story. For the first 20% or so of this, I was still on board.

Logan and Clay have worked together for a while but only recently acted on any feelings for each other. Even though Logan is a Dom, he keeps that part of him from Clay until Clay has a little more time to become comfortable with the dynamics of their relationship. His bigg

There was promise at the beginning, but the story was lost amidst far too much repetition, melodrama, and desensitizing sex scenes. I love sex in books, but you eventually get to a point where you're just tired of reading about it. I kinda wanted to try and count how many sex scenes there were in this story, but it's just too long to bother. It felt like 40.

It's also way, way too long. One of those books where, every time you turn the page and find more writing...you groan in agony because you

The moment this one clearly became a "submissive says no, dominant refuses to take no for an answer" book, it went right to my DNF shelf. I don't care how submissive someone is. No means no. "No" is not an excuse for someone's "Dominant" to force an unwanted discussion until "no" turns to "yes."

And please, "... you can't submit to anyone else when your soul has already found its Master"? Really?

This book needed a editor. While I appreciate that the author only switches POV in a section break rat

Well, well, well....That's a long long journey...

When I picked this book, I thought I would get a full dose of an action scene. Well, It's SWAT team story. What do you expect, right?

Nope. I get BDSM story with a lot of f***ing drama and soap operas. LMAO!

30% DNF

I tried. I liked the first 10% or so, but it became so tedious to read. I normally love law enforcement / military stories, with and without elements of BDSM, but this one just didn't flow. I didn't feel the connection between the MC's and the BDSM parts didn't feel natural.

I love books about military doms. Logan was so tuff and dominating that he was an incredible character. I wasn’t as crazy about Clay because he couldn’t seem to make up his mind what he wanted and became so angry over something trivial. I was also concerned that Clay left because he felt he would become addicted to being in subspace, but never dealt with it.

The sex scenes were incredible and the BDSM scenes were hot. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I bought it while I was re

Rounded up from 3.5
This is the first book I have read by Christa Tomlinson, and I hope there are many more in my future. This author knows how to write sex scenes between two men that make a woman run for her BoB. I am not ashamed to admit that The Sergeant, both the book and the character for which it is named, are super nuclear hot. The book gets bonus points for having a good story and other likeable characters.
Sergeant Logan Pierce is the cool, calm and collected head of Houston’s SWAT team

589 pages...you would think there was a story. Not really.

There was sex. Some of it hot.
The blurb makes it sound like it's gonna get down and kinky...not really. It's pretty vanilla for a bdsm focused book. Not saying there wasn't hot scenes..there was.

The SWAT team, was just a back drop....basically you get nothing on that end.

Exhausting

Honestly this must be the most exhausting story I have read in a very very very long time. The book was too long several times I was at a point that I felt the story made it to natural end. The constant going back and forth between Clay and Logan was killing me. I kept trying to read through it just so I could be finished. I also didn't like all these procedural details about SWAT but no actual action. I am tired and so excited to be finally done with this book!!

This review was written in exchange for a free copy.

So in all honesty, I'm not quite sure what to say about this book. Should I call it an all right book? I'm not sure. I didn't make it to the end. I was simply too distracted by former critics and former reviews to be able to form my own opinion. Too distracted, in fact, to read through a somewhat dull patch of story to find out whether I liked it or not on my own.

This is not a boring or bad story. The writing is sound. The characters and intera

Lots and lots of sex!

3.5* This book is basically sex, lots and lots of sex, nearly every other paragraph is an exploration of sex or a discussion about sex.
And, do you know what? It absolutely works with in the story narrative.

This is a book about a relationship, there's no side plots to distract from the simple tale of two hot alpha males finding each other and working their way into a Dom/sub pairing.

It's pretty much all about the mechanics and the difficulties in just letting yourself go and

I loved this book. There was a true story behind all the drama and hotheadedness. Clay and Logan made a meal of the whole Dom and Sub but it worked really once u knew it was a 1st for Logan as a fulltime dom and that until Clay met him he didnt even know he was a sub.
I think more could have been made of Carlos and Tiffany in the helping along of the whole dynamics of how a relationship like this works especially with them also working together in the same environment where problems accured!!

This was long..too long for me I'm afraid as the repetitiveness and the fact that the story didn't really go anywhere wore me down. They were on a swat team - such a missed opportunity!

The basis of the story was good, it could have been incredible but it fell short.

Logan is not the typical Dom I like to read about and I love reading most things which touch on BDSM. He was too controlling, too insensitive and just too much. When he suddenly decided to stop using condoms without any discussion at

This book repeated itself over and over, and took what could of been a great story and turned it into a drawn out repetitive mess.

Ugh! I'm a bit pissed at goodreads right now because I had just finished writing a nice not to short review and then gr lost it somehow.

So...

Disclaimers first: One I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Second I basically know nothing about the world of BDSM excepts what I have read in m/m books, so I can't comment on how accurate or realistic it is in the book. However nothing about the BDSM in this book stood out to me as wrong or unrealistic.

I'll start off by saying that I loved the characters and I loved the relationship the characters had with one another. The thing that really drew me into their world is how human they really are. That tends to be a rarity, especially in this genre where characters are often romanticized, but this book did a pretty good job. Although the focus was almost entirely on Logan and Clay, the supporting cast members weren't one-dimens

This book was TOO LONG!
First of all, it wasn't that good, a very weak attempt at a BDSM relationship, but on top of all that, it was unnecessary long.

Sergeant Logan Pierce, who headed up an Elite SWAT team in Houston Texas has had his eye on Corporal Clay Foster for 2 years. He finally makes his move and asks Clay out. Then the relationship begins. Logan starts introducing Clay into the world of BDSM, and soon Clay becomes his first collared submissive. Shortly after that Clay wants out of the r

A Joyfully Jay review.

1 star

Okay, so this review is going to be a little different for me in that it’s mostly going to focus on one aspect of the book and essentially only the second half of the story. The reason for this is that this book is so long (around 370 pages on my ereader) and there is so much going on with it that making general statements that apply to the whole book is just about impossible anyway. If I detailed all the issues with it, gave equal time to both parts of the book, and

I really hesitated applying a rating to this book. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong. It was relatively well written. The story made sense. It was angsty and romantic at times. And it's lengthy. I love lengthy books, but I also have a certain expectation. When a book is 585 pages, I expect a strong plot. And this book just had very little plot. The main gist of it was two men exploring a BDSM relationship together. One gets cold feet and then can't make up his mind. Seriously, that ...more

I loved the theme of this book. Clay and Sarge are a part of the Houston SWAT team. Sarge is a Dom and has wanted Clay for a long time. Clay is bisexual and unaware of his submissiveness. When they get together...HOT!!
And after the 17th sex scene I started to skim a little. I love hot man love as much as the next girl, but if you cut out 90% of the sex scenes, the book would have been about 200 pages. I loved all of the other

If you don't have anything nice to say , don't say anything at all. BUT, I liked the story itself but WAY to long.
