Did The Catholic Church Give Us The Bible?

Rate this book
The True History of God's Words. There is not one history of the Bible, but two. One is a history of God preserving His words through His people. The other is of the devil using the Roman Catholic church to pervert God's words through her scholars. Written in a down-to-earth style, and packed with cartoon illustrations by Jack Chick, Daniels shows that the Bibles Rome gave us are really clever counterfeits, designed to eliminate God's preserved words in English, the KJV. You will see why the KJV is the only Bible you can trust.

Tabloid Trash, even by Chick standards

History has never been Jack Chick's strong suit, but the history in this book is straight up lying. The entire premise is that the Septuagint, a Greek translation of the Old Testament written between 250 and 150 BC for inclusion in the Library of Alexandria, cited repeatedly in the New Testament, cited by Josephus Flavius as authentic scripture, and copies of which , were found among the Qumran community library (aka the Dead Sea Scrolls), was actually written by Origen in the late second/early third century AD. Beyond that it is simple Jack Chick innuendo and stupidity, never ONCE addressing the question of how the Biblical Canon even came to be!

A POPULAR-LEVEL ILLUSTRATED "HISTORY" OF THE BIBLE

David W. Daniels has also written books such as 'Look What's Missing,' 'Answers to Your Bible Version Questions,' 'Babylon Religion,' etc. He begins this 2005 book by asking the question, "Did the Roman Catholic church REALLY give us the Bible? Or did God give us the Bible in some other way? Let's find out!" (Pg. 7) The book is profusely illustrated by Jack T. Chick. and is almost like a comic book/graphic novel in terms of its content/illustration ratio.

He states, "God wrote the Ten Commandments---twice---with His own finger! What about all the OTHER books of the Bible? 'All Scripture is given by inspiration of God...' ---either way, GOD wrote the Bible." (Pg. 11) He admits that "There is NO 'original autograph' of the Ten Commandments. Only a perfect copy... but it's still God's exact words. God didn't make any mistakes on His copy!" (Pg. 13) He also acknowledges that "The book of Jude is a lot like 2 Peter." (Pg. 29)

Later, he says, "By 100 AD the whole Bible was finished. The Catholic 'Church' was still 300 years away." (Pg. 29) He asserts, "When the Alexandrian 'scholars' got hold of the Bible, EVERYTHING changed... the main source of the false Bible ... was one particular scholar named Origen." (Pg. 34)

He adds, "Origen made up a strange Greek Bible. He pasted together his own Greek Old Testament mixed with some old folk tales called the Apocrypha, and added on his own perverted New Testament... Satan used unbelieving Origen to make the first counterfeit Bible, adding and removing what he wanted." (Pg. 36)

He contends, "The Vadois... KNEW that Rome was the 'whore of Babylon' and revealed the devil's scheme. So Satan went on the warpath. And one day the pope declared, 'We need our OWN Bible!' Satan had the perfect man: a monk named Jerome." (Pg. 51) He adds, "Satan was clever. Only his priests were 'qualified' to interpret Jerome's fake 'Latin Vulgate Bible.' None of these Catholics had God's words. So they became superstitious and religious---in no way Christian... So now the Catholic priests ruled over the people like little gods." (Pg. 57)

He states, "It took 900 years for the Catholics to destroy most Old Latin Bibles and kill their owners. Then God moved one man [John Wycliffe] to translate God's words from Old Latin into English." (Pg. 61) He adds, "God chose Erasmus as His vessel to shine the light of His Gospel during the hellish Dark Ages. You know what? Erasmus was God's UNDERCOVER AGENT! By day he was a faithful Roman Catholic, serving the pope, working diligently in the libraries. But at night he wrote tracts that ridiculed the Catholic system." (Pg. 67)

Then "In Wittenberg [William] Tyndale found a strong ALLY in Martin Luther. And in 1525, Tyndale published the first preserved English New Testament." (Pg. 75) And "in 1611 the most important even happened: God's preserved words were published, perfectly translated into English... Within one generation King James' Bible was the words of God used by everybody---even the Pilgrims!" (Pg. 101)

But then, "The Church of England gave Westcott & Hort minimal permission to SLIGHTLY change the English Bible---when 'necessary.' The church gave them an inch... and THEY took a mile!... Christianity would NEVER be the same... What did they bring in? The Vatican's counterfeit Bible! Was this done in the open? They wouldn't DARE. The committee was shrouded in secrecy. Each day pieces of a different Greek text were slipped across the table---which they were FORCED to accept under pressure..." (Pg. 119-120)

After the ascendancy of the New International Version, he observes, "Satan and his Jesuits finally pulled it off." (Pg. 123) He concludes, "The purpose of this book is to lead you to a choice. The only way for you to make an informed decision is to show you the truth regarding God's words and man's... Either way: you will have to face Jesus and tell him why you made that choice." (Pg. 142)

Anti-Catholic "KJV Only" persons will possibly love this book---which, it should be noted, is very engagingly written and illustrated. But those wanting a more "objective" history at a popular level might compare books such as 'How Did We Get the Bible?' or 'How Came The Bible?'

I have two autographed copies of this book. David Daniels is a personal friend, and spiritual "big brother." This book clears up all the ignorant thinking out there that the modern bible and Christian church sprang from Catholicism in the early AD.

One of the book’s foundational claims is the existence of two competing textual traditions: the Antiochian tradition, which Daniels identifies with faithful believers who preserved God’s words, and the Alexandrian tradition, marked by philosophical distortion and textual compromise. Figures like Origen and Jerome are not portrayed as defenders of truth, but as men who leaned on human reasoning. This stands in sharp contrast to the witness of Scripture: “Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm” (Jeremiah 17:5).

Daniels brings this principle into clear focus. While religious systems sought to control and revise the text, God preserved His Word through those who walked in his truth rather than institutional power. The history of transmission, viewed through this lens, is not a story of scholarly preservation. It is the record of divine intervention, where God chose to work through the faithful rather than those elevated by tradition or authority.

The short answer is, "NO." But nearly every uninformed Roman Catholic and Ecumenical apostate will criticize the anti-Papists by saying, "The 'Church' (which all non-Bible believers say in reference to Rome) gave you the Bible that you claim to believe". And that is a big stinking lie.

And this little book lays it out for you. So that you can lay it out for them and also avoid being suckered into this end time revival of spiritual imbeciles going back to the Vatican Cult. It's concise and illustrated. A great resource for the typically illiterate American adult, but also good for the young reader in your circle of influence.

Interesting read. Leads you to mistrust the Catholic Church as a whole and learn about oppression of Protestants and the trail of the Bible from origination to the different versions we see today. Makes interesting points, but is heavily biased and would be interesting to do independent researching to decide the outcomes I believe.

Lastly, I dislike the writing style. Lots of “!” And redundancy just to try to bring certain readers along. It does track well but sometimes I felt I read the sam page for 3-4 pages in a row.

Would recommend only if you wanted to specifically know how we got Bible versioning.

Gods Word is sure and eternal!!!

Thank you for your hard work in exposing false prophets and showing the facts, evidence and proof that Gods Word is true. This is information much needed for all to know where our KJB and RVG(Spanish) Bibles came from. The modern Bibles are contaminated with West Cott and Hort errors, and cannot be trusted. They only contain the Word of God, and should not be accepted as the perfect preserved inspired WORD OF GOD.

Strong and Powerful

The devil truly has tried to destroy God's words. But the true word of God has prevailed through the incorruptible line of preserved words via the King James Bible.
May this information keep spreading as truth prevails.

Fast read with tons of illustrations to help understand the text. A strong case is made for the King James Bible. This book covers the history of God preserving his word and the attempt by man to pervert the word.

Great read exposing the Alexandrian text while vindication for the textus receptus. Shows the history of bible believers and also Catholic church false Christian system through history. And lifts up the kjv while exposing new versions. Great scholarly footnotes throughout with sources.
