Delightful autobiography for young readers by a towering figure in 20th-century children's illustration. Wonderful to see so many personal sketches and recollections here - I wish it could have been three times as long!

Fascinating story of an artist becoming an artist. It's amazing how interesting it is to learn about the trajectory of the career of a person you didn't know you knew.

Remember those great little calendars tucked inside the January issue of Woman's Day magazine? I loved the illustrations for each month - by this artist who also has graced quite a few children's books. (By the way, if anyone has a secret stash of these little calendars, let me know - I am having very little luck with Ebay...yes, I really meant it when I said I loved them!).
Anyway, nice biography to boot. Lots of great illustrations (drat, now I have to track down this book to purchase as well, nostalgia gets expensive).
