Review and read dates are for the whole series; I read it in one go. It really should be one book; the individual books didn't really have any resolved arcs of their own.
Interesting concept, decently executed.

This series was a wild ride. The imaginative world and complex magic systems kept me hooked, the plot was plotting, there were plenty of action sequences that were easy to visualize, and I honestly found the playfulness with language and logic and sarcasm to be charming. I know the writing style will be the most off-putting element for folks, but I really enjoyed it.
Asher is always making commentary like this and it's definitely my sense of humor.
Also there was a moment in this last book where "myselves" was written and made perfect, logical sense with everything that went down. Where else am I gonna find that?
Admittedly the final final conclusion was a little rushed and a little lackluster -after five books I want a tad more closure, ya know?- but otherwise no real complaints.
"He took a pose. It was instinct with him. He knew the angles and couldn’t stop himself from using them."
