18% DNF - At this point the H&H had shared the same space of about 1/4 of a page. On top of that I just could not get into this story. I'm out.

Shirley Busbee's "Rapture Becomes Her" is an involving historical adventure featuring a lovely and passionate romance. Emily Townsend, a squire's daughter raised to be a lady, dresses as a man in order to lead a band of smugglers to provide much needed income for her family estate in Sussex. After her father's death, her cousin Jeffrey had assumed the role of squire and promptly squandered the family fortune. Having grown up with vivid tales of bold smugglers plying their trade in her local coas ...more

The story of Emily Townsend and Barnaby Joslyn was a fun read for me. You have two story lines in this romance novel. The Viscount of Joslyn is coming to London to see his newly inherited home, land and also the the family yacht. When someone tries to kill him. You will also read about a band of smugglers who are lead by Emily. Not only will Barnaby and Emily paths cross on one faithful night. What do they have in common that someone is willing to commit murder for? There are some great secondar ...more

The title of this book is terrible and belittles a really interesting story about the relationship of an independent English woman who is responsible for the well-being of nearly an entire village and a part-Indian American who has unexpectedly inherited an English title. Watching these two outsiders navigate the strictures of English society is really entertaining. If you like historical fiction and can get past the silly title, I suspect you might enjoy this book.

I requested to review this title because I had previously read one of Ms. Busbee’s novels and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not to say that I didn’t enjoy this book as well, but I struggled a bit. Upon discovering that this book is the 5th in the series, I did a bit of research to find out whom the previous books were about. I was astonished to find that I did not recognize a single name in the 4 previous books. If any other characters m

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I found it in the library and passed it over at first because the cover was just so cheesy looking to me. Once again I am reminded to not always judge a book by its cover.

There was a pretty good mystery, a nice love scene, a strong heroin and a handsome hero with overall pretty decent writing.

I couldn't have asked for a better escape read.

A lovely bit of escapism for a wintry Sunday afternoon. A very satisfying blend of passion, drama and intrigue with smugglers causing havoc on the Sussex coast. For fans of historical romance everywhere.

Found this at the library and i have read some of her older novels. Maybe at another time I would have finished it, but I just found myself speed reading, and I found it boring.
