Poor Stonely has to look out of his window every morning and see his best friend Fred walking his prize-winning dinosaur pet. It's just not fair. Stonely wants one too. He asks Dad if he can have one too, and Dad agrees! But sometimes things aren't that simple. Getting a pet is one thing. Encouraging it to win prizes is a whole different matter...

Naomi really flies along with this great premise for a story. Going to the pet shop and seeing the absolute perfect animal is a recognisable experience

Picture the scene if you will.
It is Friday afternoon. There is a class of twenty eight tired and fidgety little Reception learners sitting on the carpet. Seated in front of them is the class teacher. She tells the tired and fidgety little learners that she is about to read them an exciting story. She also tells them that the exciting story is a rhyming story, filled with wonderful bright and colourful illustrations. Stonely's Pet Dinosaur is going to be a big winner with dino-mad kids - can you even imagine how many boys and girls have dreamt of owning their own diplodocus? It is read-along fun that parents can enjoy too, and will become a real favourite in homes, libraries and classrooms alike.
This is a huge thumbs up at Kid Literature and you and your children will want to read this dinosaur rhyming book with added ROARR over and over again!(less)

Stonely wants the perfect pet dinosaur - one that's red and likes to roar. Accompanied by his dad, Stonely sets off to the local pet shop, where he meets a lot of dinosaurs. Unfortunately, the only red dinosaur likes to sleep and sleep and sleep. But Stonely is determined to buy the perfect pet dinosaur - one that's red and likes to roar. He's also clever and resourceful in how he achieves his goal.

This book is fabulous - well written, with engaging rhyming text and lovely bright illustrations sure to appeal to children. My seven-year-old son loved it - he likes to read it himself and also for me to read it to him. He wants to know what happens next to Stonely and his big red pet!

The children in my class very much enjoyed this book. They loved the drawings and the bold, exciting colours and they loved the rhyming text. But the best part is the plot: a boy trying to find a pet dinosaur. It went down very well with the children, particularly the boys in the class. Teacher
