It's Dee's thirtieth birthday, and her two best friends have quite the surprise in store for her. She's been kidnapped via taxi, blindfolded and shoved into a strange room with a strange man who has the idea that this is all a planned blind date.

Another blind-date hadn't been in Chris' plans, but when the The Dark Room club's owner called him up and said he finally had the perfect match, Chris decided one more try couldn't hurt. When his date arrives in the pitch-black room confused and completely unaware it's a date, Chris has to wonder if he's in for yet another disappointing night.

Sweet

I love that our hero is a tattooed and nerdy younger guy and the heroine is voluptuous with a slight facial disfigurement. It’s not often we get less than perfect MCs and that on its own warrants more stars. However, and because this is a novella, it gets 2.5 rounded down.

This was one lovely read! A short novella, where MCs are attracted to each other after spending some time talking in the dark room without any light on. It was sweet, romantic and despite being so short, it was well developed.

Interesting

What to say? Likeable characters, not sure about dark room dating but interesting concept. Short read and a bit nerdy but in a good way. Not a keeper though.

Cute story, cute set up, sticks in my head and gets an occasional re-read.

Both have insecurities. She’s a curly-haired, fun, 30ish lady with normal sized thighs, a fine range of cotton cardigans, tiny feet and a birth mark on her face. He’s a 24 yr old, 6 foot plus canvas for tattoos, piercings, spiky hair and all things geeky.

They meet on a blind date, a blind date in the dark that is. Pushed together by the kind of friends who make plots move on, they meet and interact without preconceptions, fall for eachother then the lights come on. Swamped by insecurities they go their separate ways clutching the insecurities, deep in woe as the h doesn’t know her own phone number.

Fortunately there is a Star Trek convention and those plot-driving friends to thank for a HEA as they meet again. He loves tiny feet in sandals and cotton cardigans, they fix all
misunderstandings and start on the 12 pack of condoms the friends supplied with the final chapters.

And icing on the cake is that he’s a gamer/tech b/millionaire so no worries about the future for anyone.

Have to ignore the cover which doesn’t reflect any descriptions of the characters. The story tho…. it’s cute, it’s geeky, it’s unrealistic and fantasy land male but I forgive it and love it

So Beautiful! So Sweet!

This story is so beautiful. I loved It! The hero was unexpected. First I thought he would be old then I thought he would be young but I was still surprised. The heroine was pretty much what I expected though. But watching them get together was so sweet and emotionally rewarding. I couldn't put this story down.

*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

As the synopsis states

this is a Novella but even so its packing a punch from start to finish, I didn't want to stop reading (late into the night again!)

Dee has been set up on a "Blind" Date for her big '30' she's completely in the dark about it (Pun intended)

Her intended date is 'Chris' who has been on a few of these 'blind dates' since his best friend owns the club, he had decided to call it quits when he was told that this date was 'THE ONE'...

I have heard of these places and Ms. Kilgore has taken this scenario and turned it into a humorous light entertaining read, I really had a smile on my face through most of the story!

The beginning of the book draws you in straight away, and I had a few LOL moments as you can imagine how hard it would be finding a glass of wine or food in total darkness. I loved the quick witted answers Dee spurts out... after all being out of your depth can either make you sink or swim.

The chapters that are about this first initial meeting are by far my most favourite part in the book.

I connected with both characters, Yes we have our 'alpha' male but he's had to contend with a different type of Preconceptions when people meet him, and at first when the lights go on - Dee runs and hides(I could personally relate to this feeling)... and I don't want to spoil this story, as you need to read it and find out yourself, so I will finish in saying eventually we get our HEA.

The Author has a few books available and this book has definitely made me want to go and check out her selection.

HOLY CRAP! I loved this short-story so darned much! I thought the idea would be weird... I mean, two strangers meet in a dark restaurant so... would the whole story be just dialogue and touching? Sounded like it could have been too much erotic-ness for me.

BUT, Ms. Kilgore turned this unusual idea into the cutest, most romantic, funniest, sweetest, sexiest short-story I've read in a while. The steamy moments were light until the end and then they weren't even in your face steamy, but more, romantic steamy.

And the dialogue was snappy and showed the instant connection the two characters had with each other based solely on their personalities. And no, they aren't in the dark room the whole time, thought that part was so fun to read!

And the writing was fabulous! I rooted so hard for both characters because they both had faults and "preconceptions" that came between them but then the end was soooo sweet! I seriously melted.

I got this story for free by winning a contest and am so glad I did.

And I liked that it was a short story because it got to all the good parts so much faster.

Go read this story if you're looking for a sweet, unusual and completely romantic good time!

For such a short read, this was quite the interesting story, with an exciting set up. In the dark with a stranger that some dating service claims is your perfect match... a stranger with the same interests as you, a very deep voice and a melodic laughter, soft touch, who makes your knees weak with his kiss... what a way to spend your birthday!

If I learned anything from this story, is that appearances can be deceitful, and the only true failure is in giving up before you even begin. Had Dee a little more faith in herself and not thrown in the towel immediately as the lights came on, the hot sex would have taken place right there on the wine-splashed and shrimp-covered table!

But it's ok. Geek convnention MMORPG costume sex is better ;)

I loved the premise of this book, and was looking forward to reading it - I was not disappointed! What an interesting story about two people who, without the situation they found themselves in, may not have ever considered the other potential dating material. This was a short, sweet, sexy read.
