Perfect is good.

Imperfect is even better…

City-slicker lawyer Jeannette Trenton is about as welcome at the Last Chance Ranch as a rattlesnake at a square dance. She's there to atone for one major mistake. But Jeannette's pretty sure righting her big wrong does not include thinking lustful thoughts about the ranch's new cowhand….

Zach Powell knows Jeannette's type—a wound-

Color me surprised. Riding Home is the book that I never thought would happen. Remember Jeannette from Riding High? You know the ex-fiance that cheated on Regan with his best friend? It would have been so easy for Ms. Thompson to leave Jeannette and the best friend (Drake) as the bad guys. After all they did cheat behind the back of the man they both professed to love and care about. She didn't though. She gave Drake his redemption story in the last book Riding Hard. N

Riding Home was one of those books that I didn't love or hate. I read it, I more or less enjoyed it and I will probably never think of it again. There was nothing in this book that offended me or annoyed me but there was nothing about it that I loved either.

Vicki Lewis Thompson is an experienced author, she knows how to put a story together and how to write well. I am not going to dispute that. This book was well written and the story was thought out but there was something missing from Riding H

Sixteenth in the Sons of Chance western romance series and revolving around the Chance family. The couple focus is on Jeannette Trenton and Zach Powell.

My thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin for providing this ARC for my enjoyment.

My Take
This was sweet and very thoughtful. I love all the inward-looking thoughts going on in this one. That's not to say there weren't some rough patches, but on the whole, it's a great story that shows us the path Jeannette has followed to understand where she went wro

After arriving at Last Chance Ranch to mend the fences with her friend Drake and her ex-fiancé Regan, Jeannette Trenton doesn’t expect much of a welcome from Regan’s extended family, nor does she expect to find someone like Zach Powell working as a ranch hand. Jeannette knows she’s there to fix things with Drake and Regan so romance should be out of the question. Right?

I’ll say this for author Vicki Lewis Thompson, she’s got balls. Big brass ones!

Is it possible to take the lawyer out of the city and teach them the benefits of the slower pace, beautiful scenery and the joy of working with your hands? For Zach Powell, leaving the blistering pace of being a high-powered attorney behind has gained him an inner peace and a chance to regroup and refocus on what’s important in life. When Jeanette comes back to the Last Chance in an attempt to atone for one of the biggest mistakes of her life, she finds the new ranch hand intriguing, and sexy as ...more

I know this series has been going on for a long time, and I joined in one or two books back, and I was surprised at how easy it was to jump into such an established series, and how easy it was to enjoy the character that the author put in front of me. I was really excited to read this book, I love the western ranch setting, and I enjoyed the other book I had read in this series a lot, and in the end I was really pl

*I received an ARC of this book free from NetGalley on behalf of Harlequin in exchange for an honest review*

Jeannette has been a big part of the last two books, Riding High and Riding Hard. She was Regan’s fiancé, at least she was until she was caught in bed with his best friend, Drake. Regan got his happily ever after in Riding High and even Drake found his in Riding Hard. Now it’s time for even Jeannette to find hers.

She may have done the most awful thing imaginable, but everyone makes mistak

This is the sixteenth book in the Sons of Chance series; I've read many of them too. In this unusual one Jeanette Trenton has returned to Last Chance Ranch to attend the engagement party for Regan and Lily. She was trying to right a major mistake but ended up hiding out in the stables where she meets Zach Powell, Last Chance newest stable hand. Zach, himself, is hiding out in the stables after giving up a lucrative practice as an entertainment lawyer in L.A.; he lives in an Airstream travel trai ...more

I had forgotten that Blaze was Harlequins sexier imprint, so if you like books in which the supposedly extremely smart ‘heroine’ jumps on the cowboy a mere few hours after meeting him, then this is the book for you! This book, in the first 50% was about 43% sex…and very hot sex! Sex on the floor, in a bed, out of doors, in a shower…you name it they enjoyed it! Then again, this book is only 224 pages long so the author really doesn’t have all that much time to build a relationship between Zach an ...more

The series started with Regan who caught his fiancée Jeannette in bed with his best friend Drake. Regan (Riding High) fled to Last Chance Ranch, Drake (Riding Hard) followed looking for forgiveness, then invited Jeannette to see if all three could be friends again. In their books Reagan and Dayton found true love. In Riding Home it is Jeannette turn to find love and a new direction in her life. Again all of the action takes place in a very short time span. Zach Powell and Jeanette click as soon ...more

This was a light read. Fast-paced, I actually found myself wishing that the book had more pages because the author didn’t have much time to build a relationship between the MCs. I also think that it’s easier to get into the book if you have read the previous two books in the series.
I liked Jeannette especially in the beginning of the book when she faces the mistakes she made but I liked Zach even more, the 180 in his life made sense and it takes a strong character to walk away from a comfortable

Jeanette Trenton knew her presence at the Last Chance Ranch would be met with gossip mongers swirling. With her shoulders back and head held high she stakes whatever is thrown her way and happens to meet Cowboy Zach Powell. Zach knows her story, a tainted one at that. However, Zach doesn't have to choose sides one way or another and when Jeanette says she wants to fit in, Zach offers his help. The two fall into an easy friendship met with attraction that continues to escalate. Can two opposites ...more

I received a free copy of this from NetGalley for an honest review, all opinions are my own. This is a book in a series but can be read as a stand-alone but why would you?! Go read them all! Jeannette Trenton ruined her engagement by sleeping with her fiance's best friend. She goes back to make amends for his engagement party.

What the high powered lawyer Jeannette doesn't realize is, the cowhand Zach Powell is more like her than she thinks. Zach helps her see the benefits of a quieter life whil

Riding Home was hot, sexy and sweet. Jeannette Trenton came to Last Chance Ranch to atone for the huge mistake she made but she is unwelcome as a rattlesnake.
She isn't there to lust after the new cowhand but she can't resist him either.
Zach Powell knows Jeannette type, heck he used to be that. He needs to help shake it up and loose. And allow herself to make some mistakes.
Zach gets Jeannette to let loose in his trailer and boy does she ever. They become close and Zach does want to let her go
Jeannette is at the ranch to atone for a major mistake and doesn't feel very welcomed there. She goes to hide out in the barn and runs into Zach Powell, a ranch hand, and they hit it off. Boy did they hit it off. The instant attraction becomes a weekend romp of sexy time before she heads home to Virginia. Turns out that they have more in common then they thought and they come to an impasse.
These past two stories with Drake and Jeannette weren't my favorites because of their blunder.

After reading some of the earlier stories, I was all prepared to dislike this, I mean what could Jeannette possibly say to defend her actions that resulted in the abrupt end of her engagement and last-minute wedding cancellation? The final part of this story becomes clear, and while I can't say I really liked her that much I did end up respecting her and understanding how she got to be the person she was, and why things turned out the way they did.

An enjoyable conclusion to the story arc.

Very quick enjoyable read. I love books that don't have much angst to them and this is those. Zach and Jeannette were perfect for one another. I look forward to reading more from this series. I so love this author.

I was given a copy by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I've read Reagan's story. It was the first book in this series I read. I wasn't impressed. It didn't really excite me. But this book, I loved it. Jeanette and Zach were good. I think that they made each other better people. I was more interested in this book, enjoyed it a lot more. This was a cute little Western novel and I think I'll go back to reading other books in the series.
