I haven't decided how I feel about this book. One one level, it was a very satisfying read. But there is something I felt didn't quite ring for me. I pretty much loved Tiffany from page one. She was a real person. She had emotions that were authentic considering what she'd gone through. I liked that while she had valid reasons to run in the other direction from a relationship (especially the one he was offering) with Ryzard, she was also brave enough to come out of her half-life she'd lived since her terrible accident on her wedding day. Also the cocoon her family kept her in. I like that Tiffany is a modern woman but her values aren't too out there where I can't sympathize. I'm not here to judge, but I don't like promiscuous heroines who don't have any twinges about casual sex. In all fairness, I don't like that in a hero, and I'm not into double standards. But as a woman, I think it bothers me in a different way and more personal when it's the heroine. I was worried at first that the book would go in that direction, considering the way she and Ryzard first got together. But surprisingly, I didn't have any qualms about it.
I am not a fan of affair romance stories. I like to know that the couple will stay together, and they don't have one foot out the door the whole time they are together. I think that was one thing that bothered me about this book. I could understand both characters were deeply wounded emotionally, but I felt a pang every time they would reference that their time together was a short-lived affair. I feel that Tiffany deserved better than a man who couldn't give her love or his heart because he was hung up on a dead woman. Especially with all she'd gone through and the double standards her family forced on her.
Yes, I think that was the issue I had with this book. Ryzard didn't realize until the end how much he was shortchanging and cheating Tiffany out of. While she wasn't a punching bag and she showed a lot of maturity and self-possession, it was clear she fell in love with him, and he was holding that back, while demanding everything he could get from her.
Ryzard wasn't a bad hero, but he's not a great one either. I like a hero who is completely head over heels for the heroine (or at least has strong feelings for her that develop reasonably early), and I didn't feel that from Ryzard until later on. There was something that compelled him about her, and while he kept telling himself to walk away, he couldn't. But I think it felt mainly sexual to me for most of the book. In some ways, Tiffany needed the confidence of having a man who was so attracted to her, but she needed a man who loved her deeply (with the attraction part flowing out of the emotion), considering her past. So he didn't quite live up to my expectations in that regard. I did like that he was a different sort of hero. The survivor of a revolution, who was trying to put his country back together.
I'm kind of confused about the Q Virtus club. The author's descriptions left me in the dark about how the club worked. I think the descriptions could have been clearer. It's an interesting concept to build a book series around. I hope it doesn't end up being too much of a sex/illicit encounters storyline throughout this series, because that doesn't appeal to me. If there is a way to build a story that goes beyond that idea of sybaritic luxury and discretion used for sexual gratification, I think this will turn out to be a fun concept. I would love to see some sort of spy angle involved with this series, considering the high tech nature of the club.
With all my misgivings, I was very drawn into this book and I couldn't put it down. So I would give this one 3.5/5.0 stars. Overall, I think Dani Collins is a new writer with promise. Collins can write a very effective, sexy love scene and she also writes a passionate love story, and I like the way she developed Tiffany. I will read more of her books.
The Ultimate Seduction by Dani Collins is the 2nd book in The 21st Century Gentleman's Club mini-series and what made the story for me was the heroine, Tiffany Davis. If not for her, I’m not sure if I would have liked it as much as I did because the hero, Ryzard Vrbancic, president of the newly liberated country of Bregnovia just never pulled at my heartstrings like Tiffany did. Having been invited to attend a masquerade ball, in Zanzibar that is being hosted by the very secretive Q Virtus Club, she’s manipulated by her family to attend so that she can suss out a business deal her father is very keen about. Ryzard is also a member and is anxious to meet connect with powerful people who can help him get his country recognized by the UN. At the ball, where everyone’s identity is hidden behind exotic masks, Tiffany is in for a huge surprise when she has a one night stand with one of the guests.
Wow, that was the most erotic and sensual scene yet!!!! I’m not going any further about the story which has quite a different plot and protagonists than usual…..a freedom fighter, voted in as president by his people, working hard at getting his country together after the horrendous revolution and a woman, used to being manipulated by her family, who loses her husband on their wedding day, leaving her emotionally and physically scarred. I loved Tiffany – for her courage in the way she dealt with her situation. And that she had such heart and compassion for others and instead of falling into self-pity chose to make a difference. I rather thought she was far too good for Ryzard. I know she agreed to the affair with him but she fell in love with him but he did not feel the same. He just kept using her over and over again until at the very end he realizes how much she means to him. Enough of being in love with the woman who died for him. Here’s this incredible woman who loves you…don’t be a dolt!!!! ……. I said…… A sexy and passionate story with more fabulous settings……loved the Zanzibar scenes…. and a nice addition to the series.
I just have to say I really loved this book and I just love Dani Collins's writing style she knows how to create a roller coaster ride that creates an emotional punch. A romance filled with angst, drama, love and passion in her love scenes that would make anyone's pulse pound and heart kick up a notch and its easy to get very invested and feel for the characters that she creates and that's what I love about her books. And this one did the same and didn't disappoint as I went on the emotional roller coaster ride right along with Tiffany and Ryzard.
This book was part of The 21st Centruy Gentleman Club miniseries in the Harlequin Presents line. The first book in the series was The Ultimate Playboy by Maya Blake and a book I absolutely loved and adored, and hoped that the other books in the series would live up to the greatness of the first one in this series, and I can with this being book number two that my expectations were high and I am to say that my expectations weren't let down for a single second as I went on this passionate ride along with the characters.
It was emotional. It was hot. It was sexy. It was gut wrenching and heart breaking at times and it really did pack an emotional punch, and I loved every single second of it. I have no complaints about this book that was extremely steamy and hot and I had to fan myself at a couple points. Pulse pounding moments that any romance fan would love reading.
The story began kind of like the first book began in this miniseries with the main characters meeting at the glamorous Q Virtus gentleman's club. Tiffany, who was made a member after her husband's death and had taken his spot at the gentleman's club and would be the first woman member. At first she didn't want to go because she wasn't into socializing that much after her accident which made her horribly physically scarred so she retreated into her own little world and ran her business and barely saw anyone aside from her brother and father because she was ashamed of those scars that "disfigured" her so she became reclusive. The only reason she decided to attend this meeting was because they needed to gain favor with Ryzard, who was rebuilding his country and beginning to become a democratic nation with hopes to get support from the U.S. in recognizing his country, and in hopes of doing business with him. Tiffany reluctantly agreed to go, but only because she knew during these meetings she would be wearing a mask that would hide her disfigurement from the world.
At this meeting she met a stranger, who she immediately felt an attraction for and felt desire in a way that she never felt desire before. It knocked her off balance, and he wanted her too and was obvious about the fact, which gave her a feeling of feminine pride and she could finally let go and with the mask in place she felt empowered to do so and see where this attraction would go. Of coarse this stranger that she met was none other Ryzard himself, but at that point she didn't know it and didn't find out until later on, which caused a few little obstacles here and there.
Anyway back to their first meeting. Can you say smoking? Oh my god that scene was so hot and sexy and just plan heart pounding. It made me sweat. Wow! They did this sexy tango which was nothing more than foreplay and filled with lots of great sexual tension and heightened appeal before heavily making out and touching and just going at in the shadows while the fireworks go off above their head exploding with them exploding right along with them. Then they go to the little cabana and totally go at it and have one wickedly hot lovemaking scene. My heart pounded the whole time, and I think what added to the hotness of it all was the fact that she kept her mask on and her clothes while he kept his clothes on and she could barely see him the shadows just made it all the hotter because their other senses were heightened and my senses as well. It was just so intense with passion and emotion and just how so much going for it that it added to it sexy appeal. And add the strangers piece to it and it added another edge to it that made it even hotter.
Usually for me these scenes are totally a turn off for me with two strangers meetings and then just having sex because they supposedly couldn't contain their attraction for one another and couldn't help but given to one another and not caring of the consequences. I just don't like when characters sleep together after they first meet and find it tacky and not sexy at all and just feel like it was only about the physical, which usually is the point, with no anticipation behind them to set up what is to come and therefore not heightening the emotions behind it because they just gave into their attraction for one another and that's it and they are supposedly done with them. I hate first meeting sex and one night stand plot. I don't enjoy it. I like the slow build up and anticipation running through the novel until they both can't contain their passion for one another otherwise they will explode. I'm all about the build up.
With that being said that was so not the case here even though they just met and were strangers and were practically ripping each other's clothes off after just meeting and engaging in some hot loving in a space of only minutes after meeting. I didn't even care because I was titillated by it and just totally engrossed in their passionate love scene. Plus it was smoking hot didn't hurt, but there was this emotional raw edge to it as well that Dani Collins did a wonderful job created within only twenty to thirty pages in the story. It was raw and explosive in those first few pages of them meeting with just so much going on. Not just the physical attraction part but the emotional part with Tiffany finally letting loose for the first time after her accident and letting herself be a woman and be raised up because Ryzard found her to be this attractive woman who he desired, which she never had before in her life. Plus she never wanted a man in a way that she wanted Ryzard this was her first taste of adult desire and she was ready to reveal it and enjoy it and not worry about the consequences for one night because she had that mask on her face. So she chose to give into that passion and desire for Ryzard feeling that this was her only shot in making love ever, believing she would never get a shot in real life because no one would want her because her scars so she decided to just go for it and give her virginity to Ryzard, which is another pet peeve of mine in romances with the heroine giving up her virginity to a stranger after meeting him after one night and I don't like that theme, but in here it worked and I totally embraced it and enjoyed seeing it happen and knowing that this was what Tiffany wanted and needed at that moment, which goes against all my preconceived notions. Just whole love scene really worked for me and that surprised me since I am not a fan of the first meeting love making scene. Just it was all in how Dani Collins wrote and poured the emotions in those scenes as well as the anticipation factor when they were dancing that just created that edge in just a few pages and added to the passionate nature of that scene. I don't know how Dani Collins did it but she made me enjoy that scene despite it not being my favorite theme and actually one my pet peeves in romance stories so I applaud you for that Dani Collins. Bravo! But really just that scene had an emotional punch to it but yet that sexiness to it that made even hotter and just made me happen they gave into their passion even after so soon of meeting.
After they made love, Ryzard who wanted to spend more time with Tiffany in bed, but she refused needing to hide away, they went their separate ways thinking they would never see each other again, but surprise surprise found that Tiffany was the one who was meeting Ryzard after all the next day, which shocked her as well as made her feel a bit uncomfortable since the only reason she decided to give in was because she thought she would never see him again. And Ryzard being of a suspicious mind thought she slept with him just to win favor with him and soften him up, but that didn't last too long and he didn't become a bear for too long as well.
One of the most emotional scenes of the whole book was when he untied her mask and saw her scars for the very first time. It made her feel humiliated and wanted to run away while he just felt sympathy for her and realized how cruel he was to untie that mask from her face in the first place and he was deeply sorry but it didn't dampen his attraction for. If at all possible it caused him to want her even more and show her how attractive he found her scars and all and therefore pursued her and show her that he still wanted her. He did everything in his power to make her feel and believe that she was beautiful and I loved seeing that side of him and how he took the time to romance her and try to help her through her insecurities and it had nothing to do with sex, though he loved making love to her and would do so everyday morning, noon, and night, but because he cared about her and wanted to help her heal, which I think was really beautiful. He showed her in a million ways how he cared about her and he was just really sweet with her and I loved seeing that.
Now don't get me wrong there was lots of hot sexual tension going on and hadn't really stopped from their first meeting onwards. They always wanted each other and wanted to rip each other clothes off but they restrained for a bit until Tiffany could take off her mask and allow him to make love to her without the mask on or anything between them with both of them being completely naked both physically and emotionally and I loved seeing that and just seeing this was more than physical for both of them. Now don't get me wrong the love making scenes were scorching hot, but it was nice to see something behind that passion, and that's what a good love scene(s) should do and also evoke feeling in the reader while reading. It evoked feeling in me let me tell you. Made my pulse pound but at the same time I felt a punch in the heart everytime they touched and how healing and needing it was for both of them, which just made the scenes even hotter. Plus the whole anticipation piece ramped up the next time they were together because that tension sizzled boy let me tell you.
I also loved seeing the character of Tiffany grow and change throughout the book. She was strong in the beginning because of all she had gone through and didn't let her scars slow her down in the workplace even worked harder to achieve her goals now knowing she had to depend on herself and no one else believing she would never marry again because of her scars. I liked seeing that toughness and strength from her but I also liked seeing that vulnerable and scared side as well because it showed how complex she was as a character. And that's what I like to see not flat stereotypical heroes/heroines that doesn't work and makes the story more flawed and less enjoyable. I want something that feels real and believable and creating these likable and real characters, and that's what Dani Collins did with this story, and that's what I want and need from a Presents to really fully enjoy it. So I liked the growth that Tiffany went through and how she got her confidence back with the help of Ryzard besides her which made her feel stronger as well as beautiful at the same time.
This really was a beautiful, passionate love story and I would recommend it to any Harlequin Presents fan. You won't be disappointed. Trust me. There was lots of passion and emotion to go around. The love scenes were hot as was that hot alpha male Ryzard, who you can't help fall in love with and can see why Tiffany fell hard for him and just what you want in a hero. I loved every second of this emotional roller coaster ride journey and was glad to take it with Ryzard and Tiffany. Plus the whole masquerade plot point in the book made it even more intriguing and mysterious much did it do in the first book of this miniseries, and I can't wait for the last book in this series The Ultimate Revenge by Victoria Parker and I hope it is as good as these first two book were in the series because they were pretty fantastic and I loved them. These new Presents authors know how to do passion with an emotion punch to them and I loved that about them. Love me some angst, which I didn't even mention here but there was definitely angst here as Tiffany was dealing with her issues and Ryzard helping her along. Anyway point is this was just a great book that I am sure I will be reading again and again so I revisit Ryzard and Tiffany passionate love story, and I am sure that you would do the same. There was nothing not to like about this story. So pick up and enjoy the sensual ride that Dani Collins has thankfully created for us, and I can't wait to read more from her in the future. She definitely has a fan here and will do nothing but sing her praises all day and all night just love her and her books.

Tiffany Davis has been emotionally and physically scarred and has absolute no hope for a normal future. She does however find herself in the perfect position to mask her real identity , her scars and have a wild sexual encounter with a more than tempting man.
But when morning light comes and the man turns out to be none other than the one and only Ryzard Vrbancic, President of Brenovia and the man she's meant to make the business offer of a lifetime to, the sparks start to fly, he insults her and she tells him to die, walks away and that should be the end of it.
But fate has other plans and very soon these two are thrown back together in a world of mindless passion, business deals and a 'kidnapping'. But Ryzard is not the man Tiffany needs, or so he tells himself. Can Tiffany prove she 's more than capable of to match is ruthless determination or will she once again walk away scarred ?
This read was full of hot blazing passion, stunning conflict and strong emotion. Both Tiffany and Ryzard have been emotionally damaged, making them the same kind of person, not wanting to love and lose again. With them both in the same mindset it was amazing to see how the author brings this very flaw to the top and slowly let it release both the characters.
Tiffany of course was the character I felt terrible for, living with scars cannot be easy, but Tiffany is strong and fights back with everything she's got. It takes a lot of guts to stand before anyone and not want to run away and hide your scars, it entails trust and lots of it.With Tiffany being seen through the eyes of Ryzard it showed how powerful the attention from another person can be, it can bring out the person hiding behind the scars, and Ryzard does so beautifully and all this before the man so much as gets to I love you's !
Ryzard's past was touching and so heartbreaking, it made me want to wrap this man up in my arms and take away all the pain from the past. But he just as Tiffany does not go down in flames but works to get through it and back to the top. Through this character the author showed there really is no other option when we fail or find ourselves in a knocked to the ground situation, we need to stand strong and fight back somewhere along the way it will be worth it, even if we still fail, fighting back will make us stronger and more powerful than the most powerful of people in the world.
I am taking away a message of life knocks us all down, be in it the form of giving us scars , or taking away someone precious. No matter the knock down, it happens to us all. The key is how you will handle it, will you immediately give up, or will you fight back to get up again? If we give up it only makes us weaker and more likely to get broken down more, if we fight back it makes us stronger and more likely to survive and face another day. Only walk away from the anger of being knocked down and live to fight another day.
I highly recommend this read for all fans of Dani's books, She has once again created a masterpiece full of fiery passion, remarkable characters and a story of love, compassion and understanding, that will live in the hearts of readers forever.
5/5 star review " Masked hurt tuns to exposed passion "
The book deserves 3.5 stars but rating it down due to plot holes and inconsistencies. Quoting H here 'Not on some easy piece he'd picked up for a few hours of distraction' (Chapter 3) where only a few pages back h loses her virginity with him. So, he with his playboy lifestyle labels h the easy piece - a serious double standard and even if she wasn't a virgin why should he label a lady that? But, truly apart from this instance and one or two others to do with exclusive clubs and the way they are set up, I think the book has strong and memorable characters (not just the protagonists but secondary ones as well.) The H redeems himself in the way he supports the h on her ambitions and recognizes it in the latter half of the book.
"The Ultimate Seduction" is the story of Tiffany and Ryzard.
What a fantastic read!
A scarred heroine who was widowed on her wedding night lives to appease her politician parents. She goes to a masquerade ball, and meets a sexy stranger and they have a passionate interlude. Turns out, he is the president and also, the man she has no business crossing paths with..
But do they let each other go? No! They behave maturely, fight for each other, talk and solve problems, make love and confess feelings at the right time. Also he is so sincere re his feelings, and makes her love her scars.
Absolutely loved the heroine in this one. She's a survivor and she strives to make everyday her day, which is highly admirable. She's also intelligent and successful but vulnerable and she yearns to be loved romantically. I wouldn't have liked this story very much if it wasn't for her honestly. One of the best heroines in the harlequin books I've read so far.
i enjoyed this one! it's been a while since the last time i read HQ romance and it's pretty refreshing. especially with this one since both the H & the h didn't really fit the usual style of HQ romance; the heroine's the one that pulled me in instead of the Hero and for that, it's pretty good. and the drama! my gosh. can't wait to read more!
This was book 2 in series, but having read other people s reviews wasn’t to hard to follow the story line. It was ok but wouldn’t read again, quick easy read in a day.
The Ultimate Seduction by Dani Collins is the second book in her The 21st Century Gentleman's Club series. This is a very sexy romance of two people, hardened by a tragic past and both very different, that are drawn to each other sexually, but with no chance of a future.
We meet our heroine, Tiffany Davis in the beginning. Tiffany has spent the last few years recovering from a tragic accident that killed her husband on her wedding day, leaving her with horrendous scars, both physically and emotionally. She has had quite a few surgeries to fix some of her disfigurement, and now she knows she must begin to go out in public again, especially now that she is charge of a conglomerate her husband left her. Tiffany is very conscious of her scars, and tries to cover some of it with makeup. Her family is also wealthy, and well known, as her father is pushing his own political career. With the President of a small country visiting, her family insists she attend a private masquerade party to meet the president and convince him to allow her company help him make his mark in the United States. Tiffany does not want to go out to a public event, but is pushed to do so. The fact that it is a masquerade ball, makes it easier.
Ryzard Vrbancic is our hero, and is the President of Bregnovia. When he visits America, he often attends these events to meet privately with those who could help his country. When Ryzard sees this masked woman enter the ball, he is immediately mesmerized. What follows is a night of wild hot scorching sex between two people who have much to hide in the darkness of their room. Tiffany allowed herself to be succumbed by this stranger (not knowing he was the man she was to meet), as it built her confidence that someone was attracted to her. Ryzard was enamored by Tiffany and was determined to find out who she was. He could not get her out of his mind.
In a short time, Ryzard finds Tiffany and doesn’t allow her to cover up her face. To him she is beautiful with some battle scars. Of course, living life in a small country driven by war and revolution, Ryzard has seen much destruction. His heart though is frozen, by a memory of lost love, and this prevents him from ever falling in love again.
What we have are two people emotionally damaged, both deeply attracted to each other, as the sexual chemistry between them extremely volatile. Ryzard takes Tiffany with him, at first just to spend time on his boat, but then he brings her to the countries he is visiting, not letting her go. Tiffany finds herself falling in love with Ryzard, the man she originally felt contempt as she thought of him as a dictator. She learns differently that he is good man, who wants best for his country and his people. But Tiffany fears that Ryzard is using her to get her father to help him become accepted in the United States.
This is a very emotional romance of two people who come from different backgrounds, yet both need to rise above their emotional scars. The romance was very nice, and I did root for Tiffany and Ryzard to find a way to get past their deep issues. I sympathized with Tiffany throughout, as she was in a horrible place to overcome. Ryzard, though he was so good to Tiffany, helping her, his determination to not take their relationship to the next level was a bit annoying. Will Ryzard open his heart permanently to Tiffany?
Dani Collins has written a very nice and emotional storyline that was very real. The romance between Tiffany and Ryzard was extremely sexual, with a lot of sex scenes throughout. Overall, this was a very good story.
I enjoyed this book for one major reason...the heroine Tiffany! She'd been in a terrible car accident the day of her wedding no less that killed her husband and left her scarred. The injuries were fixed as best they could but the scars remained and left her resigned to the notion that she'd never be attractive to anyone again nor have the family she wanted. She was strong though, in the face of it all. Insecure at first about letting others see her scars until she met Ryzard who didn't shy away but found her incredibly sexy, giving her confidence a boost. I wished her didn't realize so far down that he wasn't treating her right but such is usually the case in these stories that revelations come right near the end.
"I'm about to make you an offer you can't refuse."
Tiffany Davis takes her first delicious step into the exclusive masquerade ball hosted by the secretive Q Virtus gentleman's club. Here, behind the mask, Tiffany can hide her scars and reveal her true self—a powerful businesswoman with an offer for the president of Bregnovia, Ryzard Vrbancic.
Astounded by her audacity, only the fire in Tiffany's eyes makes Ryzard look twice. He has no interest in her business deal, but the promise of a woman who can match his ruthless determination makes him eager to seduce from her the one thing she's not offering….
A book that you are not able to resist. I did NOT read the first book in the series... I didn't feel I needed to but others may choose to. This is a very sexy romance of two people, hardened by a tragic past and both very different, that are drawn to each other sexually, but with no chance of a future. The story pulled me in, right away and kept pulling me along to the end.
I really enjoyed this romance. Both characters were dealing with losses and grief in their own ways and couldn't understand their attraction. Through their brokenness they helped to heal each other. I wanted to cheer them on. The story pulled me in, right away and kept pulling me along to the end.
It's a very good book .. Tiff's strong personality is amazing she's giving hope to so many people who had been injured and couldn't get over and carry on with their lives . I really loved this book and I'd definitely give it a second read sometime
