Trying to figure out whether to buy a Dutch oven. I'm really intrigued by many of the bean recipes, as well as the use of rotisserie chicken… (It would be a great pot for Karelian stew with lots of root veggies…yum!)

A great little cookbook made specifically for dutch ovens. The book is split into five main chapters: Soups, Chilies & Chowders; Sides & Appetizers; Main Dishes; Accompaniments; Desserts.

The recipes are very basic and the ingredients are easy to find. Great comfort food. And, of course, the recipes require a dutch oven.

On page 24, the Cougar Gold Cheddar Cheese and Potato Soup with Granny Smith Apples, had me running to add ingredients to my shopping list. The Chasen Chili (pg.35) was a favorite of Elizabeth Taylor and it looks to be a new favorite of mine.

This is a pretty straightforward recipe book.

The recipes in this book are pretty heavy, there's a lot of meat and dairy used. There's some interesting recipes and clear instructions. Some are rather time intensive, even though they use the Dutch oven.

Overall these aren't recipes that I would see myself making regularly.

The best Dutch Oven Cookbook

I received a Dutch at Christmas this year large enough for this family of seven! I just love the recipes I have found in this book and now want it in my library of books, so I can reach for it in my hands while I use the recipes!! Thank for such a great book!!

Just delicious!

I have always loved using a Dutch Oven. The flavors are so good. A friend made a recipe (Smothered Chicken with Mushrooms) from this book and brought it to share for small get together. We all loved it. The flavors were just divine. She shared the recipe along with the name of the cookbook. Today it is one of my favourites.

Great

I enjoyed getting ideas for regular, good foods. Too often cookbooks are full of recipes using expensive ingredients only found in organic grocery stores. I have what I need in my pantry and can produce a great meal without getting in my car.

Borrowed from the library; thinking about buying a copy since it has so many recipes I'd make. The authors are generous with crediting others' ideas, and the great variety of recipes reflects this sense of exchange.

It was okay. You must have a 5.5 qt. dutch oven to make their recipes.

I am definitely buying it

It’s approachable. The ingredients aren’t crazy but each recipe will have enough flavor as well as offering a good base to build from.

Sara got from DPL as we bought a Dutch oven. Lots of meat-based stuff but a fair decent bit and I can make in bulk for me too just like in slow cooker.

Great book! Got it from my library. Copied a ton of recipies. I've had trouble finding books that use indoor dutch ovens rather than outdoor/over grill.

So far I've made the spaghetti and it's delicious. I like their cast-iron cookbook and I'm excited to try more recipes from them.
