It was the second murder that brought Patrick Dawlish into the case. Two months earlier a girl had been found strangled after a dance. A strange mark had been newly tattooed on the body. Superintendent Bill Trivett had no doubts about the murderer; he'd immediately arrested the girl's dance-partner and the man was in prison. Then in the same deserted place Patrick Dawlish found a second corpse. And on the shoulder was the same tattoo mark - a tiny five-point star surrounding a circle.
A disappointing book. I didn't have high expectations regarding the story. I knew sort of what to expect; pulp fiction type mystery, in the lines of the Doc Savage adventures, The Baron, that sort of thing. But this story made little to no sense at times. It didn't entertain me. It was just disappointing. I still have other Creasey stories to read and will give them a try, but I didn't particularly enjoy this one in the least. Too bad.
