Those of us who have watched the process have said that the Earth Summit has failed ... Multinational corporations, the United States, Japan, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund have got away with what they always wanted ... the Summit has ensured increased domination by those who already have power. Worse still, it has robbed the poor of the little power they had. It has made them victims of a market economy that has thus far threatened our planet ... few negotiators realised how critical their decisions are to our generation. By failing to address such fundamental issues as militarism, the regulation of transnational corporations, the democratisation of international aid agencies and the inequitable terms of trade, my generation has been damned. - Wagaki Mwangi, Kenyan, Youth delegate to the Earth Summit
This book is so good, i will put it for my re-read option. Basically, it talks how instead of tackling the problems of overpopulation, industrialization and militarization all of which contributes to destruction of nature and the planet, the powers to be just want to continue status quo, where the rich get richer, poor get poorer and reproduce even more, and the planet burns.
Instead of dealing with sustainability and saving whatever left of our planet, the wealthy are proposing even more economic (growth) destruction, pollution and consumption. Great way to kill ourselves because our economic model is suicidal.
If you want to know how we got to this point in time with the great reset, mRNA vaccines and world control, read this book. They saw it coming in 1992. If you want to know what’s coming, you need to read this. We are never going back to the way things were before covid. We have been giving up our rights one by one since 2001, and even earlier, as planned. Quote from book: “Those of us who have watched the process have said that UNCED has failed. As youth we beg to differ. Multinational corporations, the United States, Japan, the World Bank, The International Monetary Fund have got away with what they always wanted, carving out a better and more comfortable future for themselves .. . UNCED has ensured increased domination by those who already have power. Worse still it has robbed the poor of the little power they had. It has made them victims of a market economy that has thus far threatened our planet. Amidst elaborate cocktails, travelling and partying, few negotiators realised how critical their decisions are to our generation. By failing to address such fundamental issues as militarism, regulation of transnational corporations, democratisation of the international aid agencies and ineqUitable terms of trade, my generation has been damned. “ Indeed we have been damned, with our unwitting permission. I just learned that only 2% of the world population still have and exercise critical thinking skills. 8% think that they do and don’t. The other 90% don’t want to think.” Which group are you in?
