Deep inside we’re all spiritual beings. The more we can remember this, the happier our lives will be.
The little spirit finally gets to travel to earth to experience human existence! For now, he’s still aware of his creative power and knows that all the worries and hardships of everyday life are merely like the thorns of a flower, to be used as steps leading up to the blossom. But the more time he spends on earth, the more he forgets his spiritual origin, like most of us...
The poignant story of a “perfectly normal” life, enchantingly told by Anna Camilla Kupka. Come embark on the journey, and accompany the little spirit on his touching voyage through his life on earth.
I'm Known For... Passion and an enthusiasm for life
My Current Project... 'Ticket to Earth and Back' of course :-). I also co-founded global online donation platform ammado. The Internet is still a baby - how great that we get the chance to use it for the greater good! I'm also a Forbes.com contributor writing about technology and humanity. And then I have many personal projects which include love, laughter and joy.
My Greatest Achievement... On a professional level ammado. On a spiritual basis 'Ticket to Earth and Back'. And on a personal level it is my greatest achievement that I'm starting to realize that our ability to love is truly divine - and that we should wholeheartedly cherish the joy it gives.
My Education... School and Law School in Düsseldorf/Germany PhD in Media - and Unfair Competition Law in Münster/Germany Business Studies- Stanford, Graduate School of Business/California. Rest: Life
I Truly Respect... People who have the courage to overcome conventions and to follow their hearts. I love this quote by George Bernard Shaw: "I hear you say 'Why?' Always 'Why?' You see things; and you say 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?'
Moments I'd Like To Forget... I don't want to forget any moments, whether they were happy or hurtful. But I don't want to re-live those where I didn't live life to its fullest extend!
How I Pay For my Wardrobe... With difficulty...
Blocks I've Been Around... Thinking about it makes me feel old...
Things That Really Happened... You wouldn't believe it anyway...
This very well written story gives a very good insight into the spiritualist perspective. Uplifting and heartfelt, this book is inspirational in the sense that it reminds us that we are spiritual beings living a human experience and that we eventually will all return home. A nice way of telling you that you are here to learn so that you can be more fully developed. I highly recommend for anyone who has questions or doubts about where they came from or why they are here or what path they are supposed to follow. Excellent!
I love little symbolic stories like this. It's really great to read something based on a spiritual topic. The illustrations were super cute.
I had two problems with it. First, it reads like a children's story (fairytale narrator driven and very didactic), but touches adult topics (such as live birth and a variety of serious vices). I wouldn't mind one way or another, but for a lot of it I was confused what the intended audience should be. Secondly, I don't agree with all the theology. This wasn't a big deal except that I really don't agree with the overall message. I don't think that life is an experiment with a "whoops, I'll do better next time" philosophy possible when we go back to meet God. I also don't agree that kindergarteners can have passionate love affairs that can mess up the rest of their lives or that everyone has to inevitably go through carnal teenage years. I suppose I'm taking it too seriously, but I was hoping to feel uplifted by it, and instead everything that feels incorrect to me holds me back from wanting to recommend it to everyone I know. I wish I could, though. It's a cute idea, and I hope she keeps writing more. And hopefully gets a better book designer. I think the story definitely deserves that.
This follows the premortal, mortal and postmortal life of a man. He knows love in the purest sense prior to birth, loses track through his life experiences and then comes to find wholeness again with his family later in life. There are references to drugs and sexual encounters. The basic idea is that we need to know that we are loved, no matter what, by our creator. The protagonist learns to love himself, learn from his experiences and love others. I do not share the view that any path in life is fine because in the end we return to our creator and laugh about mortality, and possibly return. Still it was interesting to see a different view.
I won this book from First Reads. I haven't read too many stories like this one. Given how short the book is and the language, it does seem like it's supposed to be a children's story but it touches on themes that aren't meant for children. It was a quick read and I think has some good things to say, like focusing solely on the past or the future means that we don't really live fully. It's not a book I would have picked up on my own, but I am glad to have read it nonetheless.
This book is about a little spirit that gets sent to earth to become human. He gets so wrapped up in the human experience that he forgets what he is, thus making his life much more difficult than it needed to be. This book was a complete joy to read and a wake-up call as to what is really important in life and what we really are, spiritual beings. It's a great book and the illustrator did a wonderful job as well. I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
I was lucky enough to get this in the first read contest. This book was very sweet and spiritual. A quick read that had moments that just made you smile. I love the whole thought that we are souls with a body not just a body with a soul. Deals with some pretty big problems in the "little soul" life but done well.
This book was very inspiring. In following the little spirits journey we see how much meaning every day in our lives do mean something. We make a difference in others lives even if we don't see it ourselves. The little spirit is like our soul or conscience and the story was very positive and uplifting.
