Boring..
Ahmed Mourad still knows how to impress me. One of the best Novels i've ever read. He made me picture every single detail. It took me 4 days to finish it, but it was like i took a time machine back in time and lived in this era.

what annoys me the most about him is that he's actually got true talent but insists on wasting it to commercial mass market success. in this book he had an awesome rich period of our history and a variant array of characters to create a really good book with but he preferred to go the easy lucrative way instead resulting in this pop corn book that will sell thousands of copies, have ultras of frantic fans, maybe produced in a pop ...more

what I think ... ?!! MARVELOUS, MAGICAL maybe the only 2 words that can discribe this book. I enjoyed every single chapter, no every single page actually. That's how history should be taught. It has to be delivered as a point of view, characters shouldn't be divided as angels & demons. Excuses & context have to be provided & judging should be the reader's job, not the writer's. RECOMMENDED.

A historical book that takes all the way to 1919. Great one!
As if I am a watching a very good Egyptian series, with Firdous Abdulhameed as Safiya Zaghlool :D
Amazing book as usual. I love the way Ahmed Mourad digs deep into the character, that ur mind starts shaping them until they become real. The author has the ability to grasp the reader into his story that u feel u are the silent spectator watching the events in the novel as they go by.
I have to say i really loved the book, however i was confused between which characters and events were real and which were fictional but nevertheless it was an enjoyable book.

another great book, it has love, adventure, patriotism, action and history. in some parts i did had this overwhelming emotions. the way he described this time, restaurants, cafes, cloths, conversations and emotions i enjoyed this book and the only reason my rating is missing a star cause of the tragic end although it fits perfectly i just hoped for a better one.
I adore history & have read about 1919 dozen of times before but none were like this one :) .. my only objection is for some bad words as usual but it's absolutely a marvelous book when u look at it from outside & inside :D

Nice book , i liked the fact that it is different from the previous ones
One of the most amazing novels he wrote regardless the unhappy ending , but it got a good image of the country in that time
I totally think that Ahmed Morad is very over rated but I admire his historical search and story telling techniques.
amazing book.... you would picture urself living in its period of time with all the details and well chosen words.

I loved it. The author took us this time to the english colonized Egypt. The struggles of its people against the foreign invader and the local traitors are on the plate, with some inside love stories. it was a fun read.
The story line is pretty weak and void.

The end was so heartbreaking
I liked the book because it was familiar and effortless to read. My issue with it is that the storyline is very predictable - cliche almost. Some parts seem to be copied from Naguib Mahfouz's novels and movies.

Anyone who says that this novel deserves a five out of five or says it has an amazing story is an absolute idiot (Excuse my language). Why? They say that because its just written by Ahmed Mourad, one of Egypt's most successful writers.
