Where was this book last week when I needed it for "Penguin Storytime"?!

This is such a cute new arrival! I want to point out something I really love about this book because it's a trend I want to see more of. It's basically a picture book/non-fiction book mash-up! I brought this up at a literary event recently and I hope publishers take note.

It's perfect for storytime because you have the story going throughout the book in it's own font and then you have the facts throughout in their own nicely formatted blurbs. As a storytime presenter you can read the story and point out some of the facts here and there, but don't have to read all of the facts.

This book would work well as an introduction book in a storytime for littles, sharing a few facts and top notch pictures. One page has fun, rhyming text and the opposite page has a box of text with summarized information about the penguin. Would also work great in a classroom setting, reading it over the span of a few days or weeks. This book is one in the National Geographic Kids series, and don't forget the amazing gallery & glossary at the back! Run don't walk to add this book to your library or classroom collections.
