Annabelle Murphy specializes in treating post-traumatic stress disorders in soldiers. She’s seen her share of damaged souls and knows personally how left untreated, the world around you can come crashing down. When Patrick Connors, the only survivor of a chopper crash, walks into her office, everything she thought she knew about pain changes.
Trick knows he’s broken. Nightmares and guilt are his constant companions. Pain, delivered by willing participants at an underground club, The Den, are his only saving grace and relief. That is, until the night he finds himself alone in a room with the last woman he ever thought needed his help, his understanding, his touch.
Can either of them be saved by the other before it’s too late? Before time’s up?
Michelle Windsor is the author of over a dozen steamy, contemporary romances filled with alpha males and even stronger females.. She has achieved both Amazon and Barnes & Noble International Best Seller status, and was awarded Best Contemporary Romance Writer by Passionate Plume Ink in 2019. Her first book, The Winning Bid, was nominated for the Summit Indie Book Awards by Metamorph Publishing in 2017, and continues to be her best-selling book to date.
Michelle is married with three grown children, and lives north of Boston in the type of suburban neighborhood you read about in sweet romance books. When she’s not working on another book, you can find her spending time with her husband, hanging out with her three sisters, or snuggled up with her three cats, yes three, watching a movie or reading a book.
The shadowy black and white composition and dual font title provided very little visual appeal to me. It was not eye-catching at all. I discovered this book when it was mentioned by another reader & opted to read the synopsis, which interested me for the whole “wounded warrior” trope alone.
POV ~> alternating first-person
The concept was strong and the blurb really pulled me to read it, enough so that I bought it and bumped it to the top of my TBR list. Sadly, I was not as impressed with it as I’d hoped to be. Patrick “Trick” Connors suffers from some serious survivor’s guilt. To alleviate the mental pain and guilt, he seeks redemption through physical punishment at a BDSM club. The more brutal the better, as far as he’s concerned. Annabelle Murphy is a therapist. Not a very professional one, in my opinion. Numerous times throughout, I’d questioned her ethics and wondered why she’d risk her career and reputation doing/saying some of the things she did. Sure, they had chemistry. It was raw and brutal with hints of tenderness now and again, but more so, it was frequent and animalistic in nature. Apparently, this is how they liked it but as a reader, I found myself skipping over those scenes more and more as the story went on. When they weren’t having sex or making out, there was some minor superficial plot moving along at a decent pace. Conflicts were resolved fairly quickly and in reasonable manners. The conclusion was wrapped in a neat little bow BUT the ending did not include Kane nor Nyla, so I had questions in the end. Overall, it’s well written and if you are a bigger fan of M/F erotica, then this would probably suit you more than it did me. . My first by Windsor and she's had me at Nipple-ring. Hello!!! A yummilicious strapping alpha, hot smoking sexy, with dominant skills and a nipple ring!! Swoooooooooooonthump!😍 "Patrick Connors is nothing but trouble, and that's the last thing I need in my life" You can't get any better than that. He has nimble fingers, playful lips and mad skills in the bedroom. Well....outside too, in the kitchen table, in the club-temptations, against the wall.... you get what I mean😜
Tempting Tricks is book #2 in what is becoming my new favorite series! It can definitely be read as a standalone but I guarantee that after you read it, you'll go get book #1 to meet Trey. Lol!
Trick aka Patrick is suffering from PTSD and is transferred to a new therapist, Annabelle. In an attempt to figure out Trick and his demons, Annabelle goes under cover at The Den. Will she be able to help Trick or will he end up saving her? One click and see for yourself!!
Michelle Windsor really knows how to make you love characters. With each new book I swoon a little harder!! I can't wait for more!
This is book #2, in the series. However, it can be read as a standalone. The characters are explained very well.
Dr. Annabelle (Belle) Murphy, is Doctor of Psychiatry. She specializing in treating military members with PTSD - post-traumatic stress disorders. She’s seen her share of damaged souls and knows personally how left untreated, the world around you can come crashing down.
Patrick (Trick) Connors is currently a patient of Dr. Murphy's. Trick was the only survivor of a chopper crash, where he suffered a broken leg in two places, and a concussion. Trick doesn't know how to function without thinking of the soldiers he lost that day in the accident. Trick thinks he needs to feel pain in order to live. When he see's Belle in her office for their sessions, he barely opens up to her. Belle can't get more than two or three words out of Trick. She doesn't know how to open him up.
Trick has always been involved with the BDSM underground 'play' area. However, he is going more often. He likes to feel the pain the dominatrix's will inflict upon him. He thinks this is the only way he can live, by feeling the pain, making his hurt of losing military members go away.
Belle is drawn to Trick. But, she is letting her head get in the way of her heart. Belle wants to fall for Trick, but believes he isn't right for her. Belle and a friend go in disguise to a local BDSM club, on demonstration night. Who should find her? Trick. Trick realizes it's Belle, even though she's wearing a wig, and has in contacts. The kiss alone they share will make you melt.
Will Belle let her head lead her way with a relationship? Or will her heart win out? Will Trick be able to trade in his vice for needing pain for love?
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
This is Patrick and Annabelle's story and by joe what a story it is. Patrick known as Trick to all his friends is a damaged soul. Trick was a pilot in the army but after a crash that left him the only man alive he turned to guilt and the only thing he felt was now was numb and the guilt of those men. Trick turns to a underground den that provides willing people to cause him pain that makes him forget even just for a little while. His therapist don't seem to get it and is moved on to other therapist that might be able to help and that when he meets her the one that has him forgetting for that hour course all he can concentrate on his that dam tattoo on her ankle. He knows he wants her but she is his counceller and although he wants her can he ever have her ?
Annabelle know what its like to be in pain and suffering she lives her life having seen her father in the worse way any daughter should. her nightmare are still there but using her pain to help others. But then he walks into her office and she cant get through to him he gives her basics and vague answers or information she is sure what to do with because she don't understand it . Then she decides enough is enough and follows him to try and understand him but falling for him was not on the cards. Can she stop battling with her heart and her conscience ?
I really loved this book its the second in the series and just as good as the first. you also hear a little from Trey and Charlotte again as the stories over lap as they are from the same time line which I personally like. It a HEA but don't mistake that for not having a drama filled from cover to cover.
Michelle Windsor you did it again. Michelle writes exceptionally good stories that you cant help read in one go and fall in love with the family of friends in them.
I was really curious to see how the author would take this from a doctor/patient relationship to something more, especially given I've worked as a therapist in the past. The author did a great job with it, though there's more than just transferring the patient to another doctor according to the ethics board, but I think the way it was done in the book is realistic.
I appreciated the very real PTSD symptoms that Trick had and the reason why. I liked that Bella had her own issues and that the author didn't make her the "perfect" solution to his problems.
My only hesitation (the reason it dropped from 4 stars to 3) was the sudden explanation of Trick working as an escort. I'm sorry...what? Why wasn't this an issue between him and Bella? Why was this not really discussed anywhere in the book except in passing? I think the author took for granted that the reader would have read the entire series to know Trick's back story but I didn't and it left me feeling lost.
OMG! I knew I was going to love this broken hero, but I mean I absolutely adore Patrick "Trick" Connors! Michelle sure gave us a hero we could feel everything for and easily fall in love with. I love everything this story has to tell, even some of the more difficult painful things, because it all adds to the understanding of the inner workings of Patrick's mind and why he feels he only deserves pain. I love how deeply healing it turns out to be for his heart, soul and mind to finally have someone in his life who truly sees him and cares about him demons and all. Belle is amazing and perfect for him even though she has her own demons that cause her pain! They are so hot together! They are so sweet together! They are everything the other needs to find solace, peace and love. Fantastic 5 star read!!
Fall in love with Patrick!! This is an easy to get lost in novel that has you flipping pages and it's over before you realize it. Patrick aka Trick suffers from PTSD. Enter therapist Annabelle. She's like a siren for him. She craves the knowledge that will help him but knows she's not able to help him with the intense chemistry they have. Darkened meetings in The Den and surprised Trick kicks the story up a notch. If you thought Charlotte and Trey were made for each other, you haven't met Patrick and Annabelle yet!!
I couldn't wait to see Trick get his perfect ending. Trick was so haunted by a scene from his past that he was unable to control. Trick was living in the shadows of darkness til he met Belle. Belle had some stuff in her own closet she was still dealing with. Trick and Belle together was utter perfection , they both complimented one another with there personalities. Trick is more gruff than Belle is used to ,but that is part of the appeal for her. Look forward to the next book in the series.
Patrick oh Patrick he will make you swoon so hard and melt ya at the same time! Annabelle helps post-traumatic stress disorders in soldiers. Meeting Patrick is a instant connection but Annabelle is trying so hard to put her feelings aside but when she notices blood on Patrick and he’s still going to the club she wants to know why. This book is hot, sexy, intense at moments but a page turner that makes you not want the book to end. 5/5 stars
Overall this was a good read. Annabelle is psychiatrist and this is how she meets Patrick. He is having a hard time adjusting after being the only survivor which is why he is sent to her. They start spending time outside of the office and of course they start falling for each other. After some drama near the end they get their HEA.
It's a great story. Our soldiers are coming home from war with horrible memories. Many will not ask for help cause they think it makes them look weak. 22 Veterans commit suicide everyday. This number is way to many!! They need our support to return to civilian life. Find local Vets, support them, let them know you care. Meet for coffee, A meal, go for a walk, just talk.
A spicy romance between a helicopter pilot suffering from PTSD and his (previous) therapist. Patrick can only find solace while being flogged at a sex club but slowly starts to heal thru his relationship with Belle after finding her at the same club. Belle also has unexpected healing to do that is aided by her relationship with Patrick. The depictions of PTSD and suicide are handled with care, but keep in mind, this is a romance and on the shorter side.
Although not a Beauty and the Beast retelling, there are similarities and homages to the fairy-tale.
The audiobook is good but would be better with dual narration.
I honestly don't care if H is messing around with ow before meeting h. But once they meet, interact or fool around, i expect H to keep it in his pants
** spoilers ahead ** don't read further if you don't want me to spoil the plot
Belle is H's therapist treating his PTSD of being the lone surviver of a crash. Book starts with H at a kink club, enjoying physical pain from his mistress, who then fucks him. (no mention of a condom until much later when he claims he always wears one when he's escorting). Next scene is at his doc h's office who as always has had only pathetic sex and even none of that in the last 10 months. So she follows H without him knowing to the kink club in disguise. There we meet the bartender, another ow H frequently sleeps with.
H obv enamored with h in disguise, goes down on her but finds out it's her from the tattoo. He doesn't let her know that, instead asks h to visit again saying he's always there on week nights. I can only can imagine him sleeping with others almost daily.
They fool around, leave the club and then he tells h the next day that he knew it was her. He's all hot and bothered and you'd think that he wants only h now right, but nope. He goes back to the club and has a session with the bartender ow. Here is the end to that, it's very ehm... descriptive
“Make me come,” she demands, fisting my hair as she pushes my head between her legs. I inhale deeply as I’m lowered, her scent strong, her arousal obvious. I lose myself in the soft, wet folds, my fingers and tongue feasting on her offering until she screams out her relief. I fall limply to the floor, wishing it was Belle’s taste on my lips instead of hers, the last thought before I pass out
GROSS!!!!!!!!! IS IT WRONG TO EXPECT THE HERO TO NOT MESS WITH OW AFTER BEING WITH THE HEROINE 🤮🤮🤮

Tempting Secrets is the next installment in The Tempting Nights Romance Series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone. Trey & Charlie from Tempting Secrets are here but not in a way that had you not read their story you couldn’t follow along. If anything, the author writes this as a true stand alone & them being friends of Patrick “Trick”, yet if you have read their story, you see their lives evolve to the next level.
Annabelle “Belle” is a therapist who follows all of the rules. Her brain always leads the way, never her emotions, until in walks her newest client Trick. He’s suffering from severe PTSD and in an effort to try to understand him (or so she tells herself) she disguises herself right down to colored contacts and goes to The Den. She falls into the comfort of her disguise thinking he doesn’t know who she is & takes him up on a demonstration.
Trick notices the tattoo on her ankle and is confused by his feelings. He’s pissed off that she is “spying on him” yet he’s never hid his attraction to her. So, what does he do? What else? He strews with her … bringing her close to the edge with his demonstration & then walking out saying “Time’s up.”
The next day Belle knows she’s crossed a line & tells him that she can’t be his therapist any longer still thinking her identity the night before wasn’t known. That is until he whispers her name in her ear & referring to the previous night.
They each try to stay away from each other, fighting the connection and fear they feel. There’s a lot of push & pull that happens. Each one living with their own past, Belle revealing to Trick her own PTSD.
Sometimes people aren’t broken but rather just bent. Do Trick & Belle get the Disney “Beauty & The Beast” ending or are they damaged beyond repair?
Tempting Tricks is not my first book by Michelle Windsor, I have been lucky enough to include her in my blog schedule in the past and enjoyed her stories. I wasn’t sure how I felt going into this book knowing that it was part of a duet, but still a standalone for the couple that the story revolved around. That said, I followed the story easily and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would also argue that this really isn’t a duet, and more of an interconnected series. Written in dual POV, I found Tempting Tricks to be entertaining and sexy with a BDSM spin on it. Although the pace was a little slow for me, I was nonetheless entertained from cover to cover and finished it in short order. It’s not an overly long book and can be read in one setting. A word of caution, the hero is a veteran that has PTSD and some find these storylines hard because they can be emotionally grueling. I didn’t feel that way reading Tempting Tricks. Moreover, while military romances often use PTSD as a story arc, I felt that Tempting Tricks was someone original. Also, with the BDSM spin, the story was hot—very hot. Be prepared with a change of panties for sure, lol! I am picky about BDSM romance and felt that Michelle did a great job with this one. I loved the taboo nature of the plot—Annabelle is Trick’s therapist 😉! Overall this is a great read that is sure to send you chasing down more of Michelle Windsor’s books!

“I want to know how someone gets pleasure from pain.”
Michelle blew me away with this story and once I started it was hard to put down. Annabelle (Belle) is a psychiatrist who specializes in post-traumatic stress disorder. One night she goes to a BDSM club with her friend in disguise and she immediately feels an attraction to Patrick (Trick) when he shows up at the same club. He feels like he knows her from somewhere but he can't put his finger on it. She knows she shouldn't encourage him since he is her patient. When he shows up at their next appointment she tells him he needs to see one of her therapist friends as she can't be his doctor anymore. He is disappointed and upset since he trusted her and wants her to be his doctor. She tells him she cant as she feels things for him and it would be unethical for them to be in a relationship. He reluctantly does so as he has feelings for her also. Love this couple and they are so much in love. They hit a few rocky patches in their relationship as they both have skeletons in their closet. Will their love pull them through their rocky patch. I received an arc for an honest review (thank you) for Naughty Nightie Book Blog. Although this is part of the Tempting Nights Romance Series it can still be read as a stand-alone. I couldn't get enough of Annabelle and Trick and hope we get more of them further down the track.
Tempting Tricks was the first book I've read by this author. It's a fairly quick read, but full of secrets and demons for the hero.
Patrick, aka Trick, is suffering from PTSD ever since returning from war. The only thing that quiets the voices in his head is him taking the pain handed out by the dommes at the club he frequents. Even though he kind of crushes on his shrink, he'd never let her really see his true self.
Except that Annabelle knows there is more to her client than he's letting on, especially when she sees him bleeding. She follows him to the club, and they have an amazing time together where he takes the lead but she thinks that he doesn't recognize her. Except, of course, he does.
The story unfolds nicely as these two tap dance around their feelings, and what Trick gets out of the club. She brings a light to his life that he's desperately needed, and along the way finds that she enjoys something more than vanilla when she never expected that she would.
Tempting Tricks is a standalone within a series, but you don't have to read the others for this story to make sense. It's a nice instalove story between a broken war hero and the sweet shrink who heals him.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Wow, this is the first time I have read this author and I am hooked. I have found out that this is book two in the Tempting series but I found that I was okay reading them out of order. I am sure by reading these in order you will get more of the hidden ques that the author may leave but I did not feel like I missed a thing. I loved the characters and the story that they told. PTSD is not a topic that is to be taken lightly and thankfully it is getting more widely accepted and treated. This is such a sensitive topic and this author handles it beautifully. We get to meet Dr. Annabelle Murphy who specializes in PTSD in soldiers. Through Annabelle's practice we get to meet Patrick (Trick) who is experiencing PTSD as he is the only survivor of a helicopter crash. I do not want to disclose any book details and potentially provide any spoilers to anyone. All I can say is that this book took my breath away. It is as heartbreaking as it is joyful and holy steaminess. Annabelle and Patrick have chemistry in abundance and it is craftily written into each and every word the author uses to describe the layers of the characters and their road to their new normal and HEA.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Have you ever read a book that you become so invested in the characters need for a HEA you cannot put it down until you finish the book? This is the one for me. Patrick a/k/a Trick is emotionally not available. Working as a male escort and having sex with any woman who asks, is only one small part of the man who is hiding his inner turmoil and PTSD. As a military helicopter pilot who lost all of the men on his team in a crash, he places blame on himself and uses the pain of being whipped and caned to get through his emotions. It is not until he meets Dr. Annabelle Murphy a/k/a Belle in his required therapy does he see the light at the end of the tunnel. But will her uncertainty and lack of understanding of what she really needs in a partner be more of a hindrance than a help? Or will it be the one thing that makes his journey worth continuing? I fell in love with Trick in book one and finally getting more of him in book two was so worth the wait. My emotions ran high while I read this book and I am sure this story will stay with me for a long time. Everything that seems broken is not always needed to be thrown away. Fixing what is broken can be the best journey one can ever go through.
Annabelle (Bella) is a psychiatrist who helps people deal with the struggles life throws at us every day. She's had some doozies of her own to face. Patrick (Trick) is a former military pilot who was shot down in Afghanistan and saw his crew blown up. He suffers from PTSD and survivor's guilt. He comes to Bella for therapy but can't open up to her. He seems only to find relief at a sex club enduring BDSM pain. Bella is at her wit's end trying to reach him, while trying to subdue the longing and attraction she feels for him. It goes against every doctor/patient moral code.
Trick is also very attracted to Bella and instead of fighting it, he relishes it. Then one night she comes to his club in disguise. She is curious about his world and he wants to initiate her into it! The combustion between these two is explosive! I loved it! From their push and pull to their dog and cat fights, it was like watching a well choreographed dance.
I loved seeing Trey and Charlie again and seeing their family grow! That's what is great about these series, they are standalone with HEAs but they have returning characters you get to keep up with so it's better if you read them in order. Next in Tempting Justice, Book 3 we will get Gabby's story! I can't wait!
This is a new author to me and I will be reading more about her especially the first book in the series. You absolutely do not have to read the first book in the series, I didn’t and I was not lost. Patrick (Trick) has PTSD from his time in the service. He is recently transferred to Annabelle’s care for dealing with his PTSD. From the moment they meet there is an instant and attraction but Belle is leery about getting involved with a patient. She is only trying to understand him and in a roundabout way herself. Trick feels like he deserves only deserves pain but he is a survivor. So Belle goes undercover and is admitted to The Den which is a BDSM club. Will Belle discover her true self when she takes up Trick on his offer? Will Trick be able to heal mentally and emotionally with Belle by his side? I highly recommend this book!! I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!
A compelling story of pain and suffering but also of love and new beginnings. by sewsummore
The pain and the suffering experienced by our servicemen returning from war with PTSD is exposed in this story. Patrick found a way that silenced his anguish by submitting himself to pain, something his shrink failed to understand. When she experienced it herself she knew why he went back time after time but knew there had to be a better way. By reading this story I came to understand their pain and rejoice in the fact that Patrick was able to conquer his pain and begin to rejoice in living once again. There was love and romance in this story and the knowledge that it is not only the ones who go to war suffer but also the ones at home.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed this book.
Trick is a veteran with severe PTSD. Guilt and loss rule his world and, when the memories come knocking, the only place he finds relief is at “the club”.
Annabelle “Belle” is his therapist. After weeks of sessions filled with silence and sexual tension, she has more questions than answers about this man and her feelings towards him.
While they can’t deny the heat between them, each have their own demons to work through before they can give in to what they are feeling.
This book is steamy and sexy and contains a little bit of a taboo doctor/ patient relationship. It also deals a lot with veterans and PTSD and the subject of suicide so if these are your triggers, tread lightly.
I wasn't sure about this story at first, but the more I read the more I enjoyed it. Patrick or "Tricks" was a pilot in the military and is now suffering from PTSD. Annabelle is his therapist; however, their strong attraction is making it difficult for her to continue his treatment. Add in some friends who are a bad influence, a forgotten jacket and a little snooping and you get a huge ethics violation and the beginning of a quick and steamy romance!! I liked the characters and even though I'm skeptical about stories that involve sex clubs, it was only a small part of this one and it turned out to be really good.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a gem of a story. It deals with something a lot of people are affected by PTSD and is still not fully understood, but there is not one fix all for this. The main male character has decided that to deal with his PTSD he’ll go to a place where people shall willing cause him pain if he asks for it. His therapist, the main female character has never been to a BDSM club before and so has no real insight in to whether it is helping her patient or harming him. The story and the romance moves on from there, neither character is perfect and they are both searching for something but neither one knows what it is! This is a very well written story with a solid plot.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I knew Trick was a kinky mofo. But I didn't know how sweet he would be after he fell in love. When he tells Belle "I've already fallen" SWOON. They both have so much emotional trauma. It was so heartbreaking to hear their grief over their losses. And Gabby made me so mad...... gah cant wait for her book to see what happened. And Charlie and Trey naming the baby..........so sweet❤ Their chemistry was explosive and so steamy. Loved everything about Trick and Belle.
Will Annabelle be tempted by what Trick has to offer? This is my 2nd book by Michelle and I love an author who writes in dual point of view. Trick is seeing Annabelle for his PTSD as the soul survivor of his helicopter crash from an RPG. There is electricity between them, but Annabelle remains professional. But when Annabelle discovers Trick’s membership card to the Den, all bets are off. Will Annabelle realize that she wants what Trick can offer? You have to read to find out and won’t want to put this steamy book down until you finish.
A beautiful well-written story that held my interest throughout. This is Annabelle Murphy who helps soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorders Patrick Connors/Trick comes to her for help, he is the only survivor of a chopper crash. Two people that need each other to heal. A story that runs smoothly from one page to the other with a storyline that grabbed my attention and did not let go until I finished reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in the Tempting Nights Romance series. I love this series! This is Patrick and Annabelle’s story. Trick (Patrick) is suffering from PTSD and pain is the only way he has to deal with the guilt and pain. Annabella is his PTSD therapist. She doesn’t understand why he goes to have the pain delivered by willing participants at an underground club. This story is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The sexual tension is immense. I love the way this book pulled me in and kept my reading until the end. I am looking forward to the next book.
