A Thousand Years

Rate this book
A thousand years he's waited - since the night he lost everything he held dear - to have her back in his life. His one true love, soul mate. He felt it the second she came back into the world.

On the night of her twenty-first birthday, Eadric Bishop is forced to intervene in her life against his wishes when a group of Soulless demons try to kidnap and kill her. It soon becomes clear that something bigger is going on. There's a plot to take out both him and the one he loves. If he can save her.

Anabell Todd was a normal, introverted college student when Eadric waltzed into her life and literally swept her off her feet - a demon with supernaturally good looks and the idea that she's his long lost soul mate. She's more than inclined to run away, but she soon realizes the threat is real. Eadric is her only salvation - and she is his.

Bigger things are after them than they know. When the tables suddenly get turned, who ends up saving who?

I really wanted to like this novella as it sounds like a paranormal romance similar to Twilight or the Sookie Stackhouse series that I really enjoyed reading a couple of years ago. However, the author needs to get a better editor and/or proofreader. The book had a lot of grammatical issues that were annoying but possibly printing issues so I was able to ignore them. My main complaint is that the plot really needed some foreshadowing. Villains just appear with no warning and almost no back story. Then they just disappear--I guess until they are needed again in some obviously planned sequel. The end seemed very rushed, which doesn't make much sense in a less than 100 page novella.

I gave the book 2 stars because I think that this is what Stephen King called a trunk book that all beginning authors write to figure out how the writing and especially plotting process works. Before self-publishing, these books would sit in a trunk unable to find a brick and mortar publisher allowing the authors to write the really good books that would come later. I think if this author continues to write her books will get better too and I wouldn't be adverse to reading perhaps her third or fourth published work.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway but that did not impact my review.

He sold his soul for her and waited a thousand years for her return. But in a blink of an eye he might lose her again. Is she really the reincarnation of his soul mate that he lost a longtime ago with his children in a brutal attack?

Eadric Bishop wanted to wait a bit longer before he step into Annabel Todd’s life but his hand is force when he intervenes when a gang of Soulless demons try to kidnap and kill her. He is force to kidnap her and take her back to his place to protect her.

Annabel Todd is a twenty-one old introvert college student. She did not expect her life to change so quickly going to a bar with her friend. Weary about Eadric at first since she has never seen him before but is attracted to his physique. She does not know what to make of his story that he is a demon and that she is his soul mate but she feels the bonds.

Drawn to him as he risks his life for her, she realizes he needs blood to heal as she gives him her blood but he refuses to take it. Eventually, she forces him to drink some but he is not willing to consume all that he needs to fully recover.

While still recovering, Eadric finds himself chained to his bed with silver around him causing him not to fully heal and Annabel is kidnapped and tied outside his window ready to be burn. Will they be able to save each other before they both burn up in flames? Can they love save them or are they doomed to be a part?

I was a test reader for this book, and holy poop do I love it. There were some grammatical issues, but it wasn't so bad as to knock out my suspension of disbelief. Without giving anything away, I must say that this may be my favorite book in the series. In the spirit of full disclosure I am a friend of Brigitte's family, but if this book was horrible I definitely would not spare her feelings. You should really read it.

I received this as part of a Goodreads first reads giveaway. I enjoyed this book and, like others, agree that it could use some proofreading. It wasn't as bad as some that I've read though. The story was good and it kept my attention. I actually wanted more and can definitely see sequels once the author gets more experience and truly finds her voice.
I feel I need to elaborate on what needs work for the author's benefit. I was confused numerous times by the voice in which the story was told. I don't mind multiple POV's, but they need to be separated by chapters or at the very least sections. Also, some aspects of the story needed to be touched upon more.
