Boss Bitch Swag

How does a married woman who has never once been unfaithful to her husband contract HIV? Meesha Clark, a gorgeous young wife, mother, and budding fashion designer, is forced to ask herself that very question when what she thought would be a routine prenatal checkup turns out to be anything but routine... Meesha meets the man she wants to devote her entire life to while she's still in high school. Falling in love with Boss, though, is the easy part; staying in love will prove to be a much harder task. When Meesha discovers that her heart's desire is not only a well-connected gangster, but is also next in line to head the mob that controls the entire city of St. Louis, she must make the most difficult decision of her entire young life. When she decides to stand by her man, it becomes painfully clear that, even though she's the only woman in his heart, she's not the only woman in his bed... Malcolm "Boss" Clark knows better than to fall for a girl almost ten years younger than him. He's a man, and Meesha is just a girl, but there's something about her that won't let Boss walk away. Their relationship moves fast and burns hot, much like the city they call home. In the blink of an eye, they find themselves dangerously in love with two small daughters and their first son on the way. The love soon turns to hate, though, when Meesha's doctor breaks the news to her that she's HIV-positive. Certain that Boss contracted the virus from one of his numerous affairs, an emotionally distraught Meesha locks herself in a bathroom with her husband, then proceeds to point his own gun in his face and demand answers - but will the truth set her free, or just keep her bound...?

Who's the Boss???

From the book’s title and synopsis I thought the book was about a boss b*tch named Meesha. However, after a brief introduction to Meesha in the first chapter, the book reverts to Boss aka Malcolm Clark. The next seventeen chapters speak to Boss’ life before Meesha.

Boss is that dude. He’s a celebrity, a hood legend, a superstar. The way he built his empire is legendary. Everyone knows his name. Or at least that’s what the author wants readers to believe. That’s what readers are told but never shown. Seventeen chapters chronicle Boss’ life from a youth into manhood. Yet there is absolutely no evidence to substantiate his boss status, nickname and lifestyle. “N*ggas gave me the name ‘Boss’ for a reason,” page 159 reads. I thought at that point I, along with everyone else, would learn the reason. Boss drug deals, boss murders, boss friends. Nothing. Didn’t happen. Heck, readers don’t even learn what Boss looks like until page 129. More time is given to his sexual exploits (typical…check) than anything else, followed closely by what he’s driving.

At fourteen Boss had his own apartment and car. Just a few short years later he had a mansion (typical…check) and several cars and SUVs (typical…check). Again, there is nothing to support his wealth. Where is his empire and how was it built at the hands of a 14-year-old, 16-year-old or even a 20-year-old? Who is part of this empire? If he’s selling drugs, what drugs, when and where? Readers never get the what, when, where, how, why – just that he’s a boss.

Also typical (check), are the females or boss b*tches that parade through Boss’ life. Flawless body plus flawless beauty plus mixed heritage equal a boss b*tch. Readers learn more about the women leading up to the main boss b*tch Meesha than Meesha herself.

Readers do meet Meesha in chapter nineteen and then the round-robin begins with the narration going back and forth with Boss and Meesha.

Most disturbing for me is the fact that this book centered on child molestation masked as love. Boss is a grown man and had been dealing with grown women but chooses a child to have a relationship with, a relationship no one seems to have a problem with including the child’s mother and school. Yes, school; remember, she’s a child after all! I don’t care how nice it looks – this is child molestation.

“Boss Bitch Swag” is a typical story with a lot of typical happenings, stereotypes and clichés that plague street lit. It’s a story that has been told before and better. The words ‘boss’ and ‘b*tch’ were used ad nauseum. I wanted to like this story. I was rooting for the home team (STL), but, unfortunately, that wasn’t enough. The execution is too problematic and the story too unbelievable to recommend to others.

I must start this review off by saying this is a must read.Cynthia White is ending 2011 with a BANG.

Malcolm "Boss" Clark is dealt many bad hands in this game called life. It all started when he was a teenager. His mother took forty pills one night leaving Malcolm to find her cold body when he awoke the next morning. Boss and his two sisters were forced to grow up quick. Boss meets many women but only one capture his heart "Meesha".

On a rainy day Boss comes to Meesha rescues and it is love at first sight for her. The couple becomes inseparable and Boss shows Meesha a whole new world. Boss and Meesha face many trials and tribulation doing their relationship, but will the good out weight the bad? I don't want to give the story away so you will have to read the book to find out.

Boss Bitch Swag definitely captured my attention from beginning to end. You know a book is good when you wake up out your sleep @ 4 am to find out what will happen next. BBS was a different story in my opinion because if you read and follow the story when it ends you will walk away with recieving a message.

The book did keep my attention I just hate that it took like 19 chapters to get back to Meesha and her problems. I did feel sorry for Boss due that had trouble from birth with a mom that gets around, but he looked at that as if she was taking care of her kids. With all the death in Boss's life this book could have been called Boss The Reaper.

Overall Boss fall for a girl then go to another and another until Meesha comes along he decide to marry her after she has their first child, bi this don't keep Boss from sleeping around causing the trouble between him and Meesha.

But then on the outside Boss has a enemy just watching and causing trouble to Boss's life due that he has a grudge on something that happened in his past that didn't have anything to do with Boss.

I'll give it 3 stars due that it did keep my interest doe a little bit just hated how the prolong made it seems like Meesha was a main character, but from reading not until chapter 19 not cool.

Oh my God! I read this book and it just had me blowed. I could not get over the end. I normally read books back to back but this one had me taking a break to process it. This is definitely a great author. I will be looking for more for teh author. With the title I thought it would just be some project garbage but it actually made sense. The things that the charcter Messha have to deal with happen to a lot of women. She mad her choice but it was to late. She should of left his A** sooner but her heart wouldn't let her. Oh My God! This was a great book. I cried and I laughed but I really is something to think about. The money was not everything.

I loved every minute of this book.If you are having any doubts when it comes to reading this book dont doubt it just click it and buy it. I was on the edge of my seat at various parts of this book. At first the book started off with Meesha and her current situation which instantly grabs you because you wnt to know how this came about. As soon as the current is over its takes us to Boss so we can read about his past that lead us to the current. Boss is a boss! And along with being a boss comes tons of women and drama. Join meesh and boss and see how their lives unfold! You will never see the ending coming!

This book is one I enjoyed reading and couldn't put down. Following the life of Malcolm, aka Boss, as he grows up and secures his place as top bill in the game, this book has many twists and turns. Boss goes through women without pause, until he comes the across 15 year old girl that would change his world. The story takes a turn there, and readers are shown a softer side of Boss, for a while.

The end of this page turner left me with my mouth wide open, STUNNED. This is a good read with a great ending.

I just want to say this book was better than I thought it was going to be, it was about a young girl that had challenges that just wouldn't stop! She met the love of her life and found out some men just cant stop being men. in all reality I felt bad at the end it was a downright disaster! But she stayed strong and didn't let her downfall take her by the horns. I definitely recommend this book to all the readers that like drama, suspense, love. etc

This was a personal story ause I used to visit St. Louis as child and all the places mentioned were so familiar. It was a more on a real life basis and I felt as if I knew the characters in the story. Then to top it off I had my first discussion on this book with the Auther herself Ms Cynthia White.

Now this was a great book. This book had so many twists it had me stuck for real. Loved Meesha. I have known women who have loved their man more than themselves. Boss was a man you hated to love but felt his pain. No one should have so much tragedy. Highly recommend this book.
