SERIES REVIEW: (Side note - I have read more than what's official by reading translated online scans, as such my view may be a bit biased based on further plot developments.) Skip Beat is possibly the best shoujo I have ever read! While the art style may throw newer readers off as it is very 90's/early 2000's do NOT let it keep you from giving this manga a try! The characters and plot more than make up for any lacking art. Kyoko is my favorite protagonist I have ever read - book or manga. This is not your typical shoujo by any means. It has romance but focuses more on Kyoko's growth as an individual as well as her determination to find herself. The other characters are not left behind either. They are also constantly growing and changing in different ways giving off such a vibrant and realistic vibe (well mostly realistic-if you have read it you know what I mean) If you are looking for romance, comedy, a shoujo with depth this is the one. While at times the slower romance pace is frustrating the pay offs make it worth it. Instead of a cheap fix so many shoujo manga are doing this is a slow burning master piece. I really cannot give this series enough praise and everyone - shoujo fan or not, manga fan or not - needs to give it a try!
I love seeing Kyoko continue to grow as an actress. She really is good about getting into a role. And the role she takes on in the second half of this is almost too much. Sho is such a jerk in this (big surprise) and I keep hoping Kyoko will move on from him (anger and all) for good. The "Beagle" (yes I too shall call him this) really is creepy. But I still wonder about his bandmates. I really feel like I am starting to get a good feel for Ren. The good, sweet and the dark. I love the complexity of the characters in this series! Just can't get enough!
2022-This is where my favorite story arc begins. Ren is asked to play a role within a role, and Kyoko will be be his side at basically all times! It is a dark twist in the story and a huge turning point in how they regard each other. The president's antics are often way over the top and I am here for them! I love the variety of roles portrayed in this one. I like how Ren gets Kyoko to think about a kiss. Although why do I get the feeling this will one day backfire on him....
It look me slightly under a month to finish this manga collection as I started to feel a bit of burn out with the series. It is understandable seeing as I did read like 25 volumes within the space of a month, but especially with these three volumes, it was a struggle to actually get through the book. That is mainly because I'm not enjoying the Cain storyline and I am struggling to see the point of it other than to out Kyoko and Ren together for longer. I will take a break from this series now that I have finished this volume to recharge and find my love of this series again. I will end up picking the books up soon as I haven't got many volumes left until I have caught up, but right now I need to take a step back and read other stories and mangas.
I’ve missed Kyoko and Ren sooo much! How mad am I that I will have to wait no telling how long to get the next one?? I have to order them from outside of our system and it took a month to get this one.
I loved this one and it was killing me to know what was going to happen next. I couldn’t just end with Sho coming in with flowers. I had to know what he was up to! And now I have to wait to find out if Ren will be ok or not. I have a bad feeling about him doing his own stunts. I never thought I would be so into a manga but I love these!

The Heel siblings Arc is a masterpiece and I will never get tired of re-reading. The art also is at its best in my opinion. The trait is so fluid and the faces are especially masterfully drawn. The balance in the space-character ratio is just *chef's kiss* I remain a complete simp for this series!
Ah the Heel siblings. I forgot about this arc. I think I’m getting closer to where I left off. I’m excited to see where this goes. Also I wish there was a little more flirting when Kyoko as Setsu sees Ren as Cain in the shower.

Another feel good entry into the lives and ambitions of actors and actresses. The character are as engaging as ever and the drawing style always get a lot disturbing laugh from me
Plenty of jealousy from Sho and Ren, and the start of the "Violence Mission" plotline. I remember how much I enjoyed it the first time I read it, and I still love it.
This series deserves so much attention because it isn't your typical story.
As I have said it before in previous reviews in volumes that I have read and will say it many times over and over again, Sho is so GODDAMN ANNOYING. What he did, now makes me hate him to the point on no return. I don't care if he does something redeemable in the series. I will always find him an annoying loser who does not deserve to be famous, and I seriously hope one day Kyoko becomes more famous than him. Ren, I love Ren. Before, yeah, he was a jerk. But he later won my heart at his friendship with Kyoko that later blossomed into what it is now in the series. I still cannot get over what he did. Still gives me the giggles because of Kyoko's reaction to it. Later we get so many laughs and intense moments. Plus, we get to see Kyoko take a Love Me assignment to act out a brother-sister duo with none other than Ren himself, who's doing a double acting job as a half-British half-Japanese bad boy actor who's playing a sadistic killer. Wow! That's when things get intense and the ending of this manga volume is leaving me wanting and more!!!!
God! This series is so freakin' good. Cannot wait to read more of this series!!!!!
Kyoko finally got Sho's attention, but not in the way she wanted it. He comes around on the big V.Day to terrorize her, and she wants nothing to do with him. Not only that, but Ren saw the whole thing, and he's secretly pissed.
Now, she must work on a new project with Ren and she doesn't know what to do. Add in Ren's strange behavior lately, and you have a drama with lots of strange things happening.
I loved this book! I cannot wait to read more. I loved how Kyoko handled things, and how Ren got pissed it was crazy good.
This was another great addition to the series, and I look forward to more.
This manga is just so incredible and I'm finally getting to the point where I'll be reading stuff for the first time. What else is there to say? Every volume of this manga is a great reading experience, it's so good.
Tomos perfectos porque es el comienzo de los hermanos Heel y la conclusión de San Valentin. Esa vuelta de tuerca que hace Ren es una de las mejores jugadas del manga.
