I really love the artwork for this manga, it's just so adorable. Which is probably why I chose to read it; I tend to lean towards pretty mangas when choosing which ones to read (shameful I know!) The storyline is slightly confusing, particularly her father's involvement, the purpose of the choker and what exactly her punishment is but it doesn't deter from the reading experience and I'm hoping it will be elaborated on in the next volume which I will be starting shortly. So this is actually a reread for me and it is SHOCKING how much I disliked this compared to the first time I read it. Bare in mind the first time I read it was four or five years ago and I was just getting into shoujo romance, so my experience pool was shallow. At this point this series really doesn't compare to other shoujo romance, reverse harems or otherwise. WOW! I was blown away. Anise just can't remove this annoying choker that is the cause of the school administrator chasing her every morning because it violates the dress code. We are quickly shown 4 hot guys at her school, that later become her Rose Knights. When a bat-like creature swoops down from the sky and hits her, her choker falls off and is nowhere to be found. With her father suddenly coming home, what is going to happen to her since she Partly from my Amazon review, bought at Rightstuf:

Tenjo, the class president and White Rose Knight, is who Anise idolizes and likes, and Kaede, the Red Rose Knight seems to like her, but teases her and we can't be entirely sure of his feelings. Comedy was thrown in perfectly, and enough mystery shrouded Anise's father and her situation to keep me interested. My favorite of the Knights so far, is Kurama, the Black Rose Knight:D

2 full glossy color pages are what you will open this manga to, and they are beautiful. The art is simply gorgeous! Reminded me of CLAMP's Tsubasa, except not elongated like they usually are known for. This is nothing new for shoujo, but I thoroughly enjoyed it:) Something that did surprise me, was that in order for Anise to use her Knights, they get their power from her blood. There's no vampire stuff going on, we don't see how her blood is taken by them, but it did shock me when everything before was light and fluffy. Mention of some Demon Lord is thrown in and immediately made fun of. I love how this series makes fun of itself, so if you liked Ouran, you will like this!

This volume mostly introduced each Knight and their interactions with Anise and the others. Once again, the missing parents trope is strong with this series, but her dad is coming back! Not so certain that's a good thing though, because he means to "punish" her for losing her necklace. And he had this creeper face when he said it...

Guys, at the end, there was an ad for Kamisama Kiss!! OMG! XD It says "Now a hit anime series!" My life, you guys, is complete with that! If you haven't read it, check it out now! And Kiss of the Rose Princess because I really enjoyed it!

Do I recommend this? YES. If you enjoyed any of these titles-regardless of their similarity to the story- you most likely will love Kiss of the Rose Princess:

Kamisama Kiss, Vampire Knight (the first few volumes only because this series went downhill) Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Tsubasa R. C, Pandora Hearts, Alice in the Country of (any of these volumes) and maybe even Ouran Highschool Hostclub.

Great, fun experience and I look forward to volume 2, which I will be pre-ordering right now from Rightstuf;)

This was one book I was seriously disappointed in. I love all things fantasy and romance, and love shoujo manga. It seemed like a book I'd love. It has all of those in it, and a great cover to boot. The synopsis made it sound like something I'd love, and would probably be the next series I collect.
Well, I'm not. And I don't love it. I barely even liked it.
The book starts out alright--the first chapter serves as an introduction to Anise's world, and introduces her knights. It's perfectly fine, as This was one book I was seriously disappointed in. I love all things fantasy and romance, and love shoujo manga. It seemed like a book I'd love. It has all of those in it, and a great cover to boot. The synopsis made it sound like something I'd love, and would probably be the next series I collect.
Well, I'm not. And I don't love it. I barely even liked it.
The book starts out alright--the first chapter serves as an introduction to Anise's world, and introduces her knights. It's perfectly fine, as far as first chapters go.
The rest of the book was a big let down, though. While it did continue from chapter to chapter (the characters do have to keep trying to locate Anise's choker), but it felt way too episodic for me. Each of the subsequent chapters features one of the guys as the focus, and to be honest, I just couldn't get into those chapters. Chapters that were supposed to develop those characters just revealed how the manga is full of stock characters, and that there would be some issue of the day in every chapter from then on. I don't think I want to read 8 more volumes of episodic chapters that have one small thread connecting them. Maybe it gets better in book two, but when a book is just almost a bunch of short stories with boring characters (though Anise herself isn't bad, but I know I'd have to put up with the knights, and I can guess who her love interest is from the start. I hate those kinds of stories. D:), and we get no answer regarding why the choker is so important in the first book, I'm not interested anymore. Maybe I'd continue it if the library around here gets it, but as it stands, I don't want to finish buying it. It's not worth it to me.

Other things to take into consideration:
The art doesn't look nearly as nice in the book as it does on the cover. Anise is pretty much drawn as she is on the cover, but the boys are generally drawn with strangely shaped faces and lanky proportions. And like another review said, it is hard to tell what's going on sometimes.

Just avoid this if you like fantasy and/or romance manga. There are much better titles out there, and Viz does publish some of them, so the prices are about the same. ...more

This was a cute, romantic urban fantasy manga! It centered around Anise Yamamoto who loses her rose choker one day only to find out she's the rose princess. That same day she learns she can summon four knights by the kiss of a card. Fun, beautifully drawn and easy going.
That's what I think of this.

When I first met Anis Yamamoto I thought she was dull and boring, but as soon as the introduction was over she grew. Now I like her quite a bit.
Even if the beginning was kind of cliché I like how the story turned out with the Knights. They've all have their different personalities and you can still love all of them.
What's going on with her father on the other hand, that I'd like to know.

This was strangely compelling????

The characters all are pretty dorky and I’ve seen nearly all of them before but the story was kind of good.

The art style was very.... dark. Literally. I think everything is just too packed into one page. It makes it hard to read.

It’s pretty funny at times. Sometimes without meaning to be. Kaede is probably my favorite character.

I have never been so baffled before by a manga😂 This was so fast-paced and you were just thrown into it alongside our main character Anise. I literally picked this up because it was a newly added manga to my library and I thought, "oh, I need to read it since it's new."

I have to admit that I wasn't expecting much from this series. It seemed cute, but it also looked like it'd be one of those mangas that have a great idea but drag it out with overly repetitive themes. This story is a shoujo reverse-harem story and I absolutely adore it. Perfect heroines who forgive everyone, never get upset, and always exude peace, love, and a lack of intelligence irritate me. Anis is sassy and has multiple moments of blatant selfishness, such as wondering how she can use the four rhode knights for her own personal gain, but is still a lovely person in the end, wanting to protect her new friends.
