Frosted Glass comprises one story cycle consisting of 14 stories and one poem cycle consisting of 21 poems. The Stories, set in Calcutta, bring to the fore the darkness lurking in the human psyche and bare the baser instincts. The stories, compactly written and marked by insightly dialogues that raise contemporary issues like man-woman relationships and its strains, moral and ethics, environmental degradation, class inequality, rapid and mass-scale unmindful urbanisation, are devoid of sentimentalisation. The result is they remained focused and move around the central character who is named Rahul in all the stories. We encounter the events that shape, mar, guide Rahul's life and also the lives of those around him, making us question the very essence of existence. Rahul symbolises modern man; he is not just one character, but all of us rolled into one. The story cycle stands out for two reasons - its brilliant narrative and the dispassionate style with which betrayal in personal relationships and resultant loneliness has been handled. The poems weave a maze of dreams, images, reflections and stories. They are written in a reflective and many a time in a narrative tenor within a poetic idiom. The poems are inseparable in a hidden way and are magically sequenced like various kinds of flowers in a garland or chapters of differing shades in a novel. Calcutta features in some of the poems like the looming backdrop of Gotham City in a Batman movie.

Frosted glass is a collection of 14 short stories and each story starts with one character Name Rahul .each story revolving in and around Rahul and his relationships, desire and married life. Every story has one common element that is broken relationships, scattered life and sexual desires.some stories looks realistic and interesting but i am really disappointed because someway things are repetitive and each story ends with one phase I want to sleep with you, my wife liked some other guy and all.what kept me going is poetry in between which are very nice and lighten my mood too.
Frosted Glass by Sabarna Roy is a blend of both short stories and poems. The book is divided into two cycles; consisting of 14 stories and 21 poems.
The story revolves around Rahul, the protagonist whose life turns different, life of people around him also change. Each story has a different central character named Rahul itself. Rahul isn’t shaped as just a character but as a perfect reflection of modern man living life on his own terms. Rahul lives with his widowed mother; his only dream is mountain climbing. The story also shows the phase of heart break Rahul has after his girl friend cheats him. The story unfolds multiple themes like love, heartbreaks, dreams, hardships, etc...The author perfectly balances all the emotions and dramas happening around Rahul, he relates the sequences to the real life aspects. The whole story is set in Calcutta. The imagery of the city is penned lively and we get to experience it better. The story also focuses on serious issues of society that is harnessing the growth. The plot reflects today's society. The stories reflect the dark side of human life.
The poems are beautifully written;it revokes emotions and is developed to depth which connects well. The poems weave a maze of dreams, images, reflections and stories. The author tries different way by expressing poems as narrative. Love is expressed in many different forms through these poems. Many poems were relatable and personally I liked "Unfulfilled Dream".
The cover is aptly chosen asper the title. The language is lucid with gripping narration. The characters connect well with the readers and the slow paced book. I would recommend this book as this is a compact of series of emotions
Book- Frosted Glass Author- Sabarna Roy Format- Paperback edition Length- 348 pages Rating- 4.4/5 Review- Frosted Glass by Sabarna Roy is a collection of 14 flash reads and 21 poems. I had reviewed Sabarna Roy’s Etchings of the First Quarter before, and I must say his writing has lived up to my expectation. Each story revolves around different characters, but the name of each charcater is Rahul. Rahul is not just a character here, it’s an epitome for all those who are imperfect. All stories are unique in their own way. Various topics like love, lust, hatred, betrayals, loneliness and the dark sides of humans are shown here, which we want to hide from others. Right from Sanjay’s betrayal, Rahul’s mistake, a unique type of rape, to those pictures of Kabir, Ritu, Sana, Gabbar and Nina in his mind, every story is unique in their way. All the stories are based on human psyche. Contemporary issues like battle of morals and ethics and not so successful love and desires that arises in a relation are exposed in these stories. And the most important thing is that every moment someone or other can relate to the stories. Coming to the poems, it weaves a maze of dreams, reflections, images and stories. They are penned in a narrative manner with a poetic idiom. And each poem in the poem cycle are full of emotions that will make you rethink. And the part that stood out for me, the background of each stories. CALCUTTA, my city! The City of Love! The way it has been described. Just like the Batman’s Gotham! The stories focusses on the urbanization and modernization of the city. The language used was lucid and the characterization should be appreciated. I liked the way the author likes to narrate his stories, it’s kind of different from other writers. The cover and the title of the book is duly justified. Don’t miss out this gem!
This book contains a cycle of 14 tales and a cycle of poetry. The tales, which are presented in Calcutta, brings the darkness in the human mind to the foreground. Rahul symbolizes contemporary man; he's not just an individual but a character, representing everyone around us. The poems weave a vortex of various vivid visions, pictures and thoughts. These are composed in a philosophical and poetic style several times in a narrative tone. The story cycle is distinguished by its triumphant narration and the stubborn manner in which deceit is viewed in intimate relations and subsequent solitude.
As expected, this piece of work is also very thought provoking and intriguing, though it didn't quite live up to the mark. I am not talking about the writing style here, which I immensely love but more of the plot , the entire book surrounding around the character of Rahul. I don't know if the author composed this character this way, on purpose, but Rahul's character was very much getting on my nerves. Though I appreciate the way in which he acted as a channel to show the darkest aspects of life like depression and deceit through the complex web of human relations. To sum up, it is basically a story of Rahul and his relationships. I would say the world was wonderfully presented but Rahul as a character bored me.
This book just like the author's other works will make you question about your morality and belief, to put you in a philosophical crossroad, and make you think that what would you do if you were there in those situations. A couple of themes seemed a little repetitive to me. But the poems were like a fresh breeze and were beautiful to read. Overall the language was simple which was pleasantly surprising and therefore if you like reading literary fiction or want to dive in the genre then you can give this book a try.
🍂Frosted Glass by Sabarna Roy is a book that is divided in two parts. One part is a story cycle consisting 14 short stories and another is a set of 21 poems. Based on various emotions of a relationship and life, it takes you through a ride that'll make you think about human nature and its upshots.
🍂Yet another Roy book I read and it was a fine read. I definitely loved the way it was written. A bit confusing it was at the beginning because of the same name of the protagonist in every story. Narration is perfectly done which made the stories effortless to read. Lust and betrayal in the stories seemed overdone and can make a reader a bit irritating while reading them. Title and cover is apt to the book.
🍂I love his choice of vocabulary and the way he puts out emotions and relationships that definitely provokes a person's thought.
Frosted Glass is a collection of 14 small plots and 21 poems that revolve around different human emotions, psychology and relatable events.
Rahul is our main protagonist in every story though the names used is Rahul but in general he represents a modern man dealing with different life events, emotions and situations. Rahul's character keeps changing with every story and plot.
Now with different characters there's betrayal, mistakes, wrong attitude, introduction of new Character in Rahul's life, and many different plots
Mostly these stories highlight a dark reality of human life. They highlight Love, Lust, Hatred, Betrayals, Marrying someone cause he is rich, an unending quest of love, a different sort of rape which I'd never read or heard of before, family discoveries, and many more such topics related to real life. Overall while reading this book you keep relating to different emotions and situations imagining what if it was you in such events.
Just when the stories give you a ride of different emotions, the poem also leave a deep impact on reader.
Key features- ~ Beautiful, accurate cover and suitable title. ~ Unique collection of stories and poems that will impact you on whole different level. ~ Engaging and very relatable read. ~ Easy and lucid language.
I will recommend this book to those who like to read short stories with different plots and also look forward for poetries.
Book : Frosted glass Author: Sabarna Roy Favourite quote: They weave a maze of dreams, images, reflections and stories.
Review: The book is a compilation of short stories and poems. Each story revolves around the singular name Rahul. The author has beautifully crafted the little nuances in the book depicting our daily life. The book also offers an amazing detailing of Kolkata. Honestly it’s now on tbt list. The raw quality of emotions is really touching especially the story about depression hits home. Characterisation was ok could be better. Plot of many stories were good. Language was kept simple and lucid. It’s a short read can be finished in a single seating. So if you wanna take your mind off quarantine blues grab this book. 4/5
The book contains 14 short story and 21 poems and all are unique in there own way . The contemplate on various topics like love , loss sadness etc . The writing style of the author is very unique and refreshing . And characters and the plot are well developed . Overall it is a great book
This 14 small plots and 21 poems collection is a work of imagination beautifully portrayed into words.
Rahul is our main protagonist and it won't be wrong to say each story has a different Rahul as Protagonist.
In every story his name remains constant but all his characterization and storylines always take a different path.
What I felt was that it might be possible that author is connected to this name and this name Rahul might be of very much importance to our Author.
Well if I talk about this book, it is a work of masterpiece.
That Sanjay's betrayal, Leila's in a haste taken decision, Rahul's mistake, Nandana's wrong attitude, Vidya's entrance in his life, those pictures of Kabir, Ritu, Sana, Nina, Gabbar, Shyamalan and Nayana in his mind, that discovery of having a high profile politician father who gave him an killing disease and many such more amazing plots is what this book within it holds.
Mostly these stories highlight a dark reality of human life. They highlight Love, Lust, Hatred, Betrayals, Marrying someone cause he is rich, an unending quest of love, a different sort of rape which I'd never read or heard of before, family discoveries, and many more such topics related to real life.
I'm sure this amazing narration can deliver all the emotions that author wished to deliver and I was able to feel all of it by just reading this book.
Well not only the stories even the poems are deep.
Even they can connect to a greater extent.
Here sharing with you lines of one of my favorites from this book.
The title of the poem is "Unfulfilled Dream"
And those lines are :
"One night after making love on the terrace they had vowed to each other to make love once on a treetop in the moonlight among birds, bats and owls and jinns She had said, ‘But darling, the branches would hurt my skin’ To which he had kissed her deeply and replied, ‘Never mind dear I will hold you in a manner that no branch or rough patch would touch you ever’ She smiled remembering the silly fervour in his voice then
But it had remained an unfulfilled dream, making love on a treetop"
Well I enjoyed reading this book and I'm sure everyone who reads it will feel the same way.
about the book Book starts with 'Fallen Man' that tells us of Rahul and his beautiful relation with his mother who raised him alone after his father died. Their relationships was not without it's low and high. But still, he loved his mother dearly. The story is set in Calcutta . From there, different experiences of Rahul's life are shown. But the thing is there are 14 short stories and every story's MC is named Rahul. After the short stories, there are 21 poems on various emotions and topics .
my thoughts I liked that all protagonist of the stories were named Rahul. It added a bit of intrigue to the book. The stories focuses on different issue - betrayal, adultery, moral degradation , inequality , etc. All the stories bring out raw human emotions some of which are darker. I liked the narrative by which author wove these stories. The poems were my favorite. They are deep, lovely and had a lot of emotions. Written in a way that touched the soul and forces us to reflect on life , I loved these poems.
what I didn't like Talking about rape in such casuality , adultery . While it's all part of story, I still can't stand these . Also, I didn't like the character of Rahul in most dynamics .
rating The way author wove words is charming and gives a new edge to book. Overall, a book that makes you think deeply about the world and human nature . 3.8/5 🍁
My take Infusing dynamism in one’s literary pursuit tends to add to the existing vitality of any literary work and the same is done here, as the length of the book remains at 376 pages and is divided into 14 stories and 21 poems. The story revolves basically around Calcutta and lays ample stress on the modern human whose thoughts have been very much mechanized by his own needs and the character who reflects all these qualities is Rahul who is more or less the cynosure of the whole book. The main character that is Rahul lives in Calcutta with his mother with the sole aim of becoming a mountain climber however like every other individual life proves out to be a roller coaster ride for him and he sees his ups and downs in the form of betrayal and inducing emotions such as:-Loneliness, Lust etc. and their combined effect entails a human compelled to dwell in the domains of dark side of themselves All in all, the author has fairly well structured everything and has tried fairly hard to get rid of any form of repetition that may have the tendency to have the reader bored and he succeeds in the same and all these combined acts not only adds to the dynamism of the storyline but also reflects the real side of society qualities of which falls nothing short of shoddy and in addition to all these the clarity is enhanced with usage of rather simpler words entailing lucidity and thus it’s a must read for everyone
Frosted glass is a collection of stories of love and loss, entwined with emotions of betrayal, intimacy, jealousy, affection, loneliness and lust. 14 stories and 21 poems are put together in this book.
Through this work, the author is trying to pick flawed human emotions and experiences and presenting it unpolished, uncovered. The narrator is the unbiased speaker speaking and telling these stories ( jumping from one Rahul to another). These Rahuls' are different men struggling to survive in a contemporary world. They are hurt, hurting and in pain, they personify the complexity of human emotions, human relationships. They are not heroes, they are deceitful, depressed, sometimes showing integrity but other times lacking morality. They are common people not defined by one adjective .
In this race of exploring raw-ness I felt the emotions were forced onto the readers, changes weren't gradual and abrupt. This made me feel the content had breakages and wasn't flowy. Intimacy especially wasn't spoken tastefully as words didn't strike cord.
This is my second book by Sabarna Roy, but I am not convinced by his writing style and work. Its a good attempt but the work needs to be more refined, language needs to be more flowy.
This amazing book is composed in a philosophical and poetic style. This book contains a cycle of 14 stories and a cycle of poetry. The poems are subtle, imaginative, and innovatively abstract just like the view in the frosted glass. And stories are thought-provoking, they portray different aspects of life. There are many contemporary relationship issues exhibited through the poems which are again a little mainstream in the book.
These stories revolves around the relationships of Rahul and how devastated he goes each time. Each story gives a lesson of how controlling emotions can be. The raw quality of emotions is touching especially the story about depression hits home. All poems are well scripted, well recruited, and associated with the bibliophile effortlessly.
The perfect and meaningful dialogues used in the stories made it more perfect. The language of the book is simple and lucid. Also, the title of the book is quite mysterious and can encourage new readers to pick it as a read. I enjoyed reading the book. I would recommend this book to all who love short stories and poems.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
"A prisoner told me once, In a dark cell you lose count of time, days and nights You are constantly falling and rising You feel the ambiguous world of zero gravity."
🌸FROSTED GLASS by Sabarna Roy is a compilation of two cycles ,each of 14 short stories and 21 poems centered around the character Rahul( protagonist in each story is named Rahul ),representing a modern man .
🌸These stories ,some in the backdrop of classic city of Kolkata presents the darkness of human psyche ,relationships and emotions of love ,passion ,betrayal and melancholy in a profound manner compelling a reader to ponder and introspect. The style of narration is intense with a classical tone where fluidity of a brook in matters of pace is maintained throughout the book. Subjects of moral -ethics, environmental degradation ,politics are discussed in detail. The times of loneliness are described
🌸Poems are reflective in nature and are in free verse form and more in a narrative form .And offers a canvas of various interlaced themes and descriptions which are beautifully penned.
🌸The imagery again wins my heart and both the cover and Title are apt and prefect.
Frosted Glass by Sabarna Roy is a book with one story cycle consisting of fourteen stories and one poem cycle consisting of 21 poems.
The stories set in Kolkata brings up the Dark Side of human psyche based on basic instincts. The stories raise contemporary issues like, man woman relationships, battle of morals and ethics, love and lust unmindful urbanisation.
All the stories revolve around Rahul. Rahul is not just a character. He is a symbol of a modern man who is not so perfect. He is a man who follows his own instincts and lives life on his own terms. Each story presents the events that moulds Rahul's character and change his life and those related to him.
The characters are well developed and the emotional and physical instincts of the characters are well expressed in the stories.
The story cycle is intriguing with its brilliant narrative and insightly dialogues.
The cover of the book is simple and shows the image of frosted glass windowpane which symbolises the hidden inner side of every human emotion which he tries to hide from all.

Book: Frosted Glass Author: Sabarna Roy Format: e-book
The book is a compilation of 14 stories which are babies to the one biggest one set up in Calcutta and one poem comprising of 21 shorter ones. The stories are developed on the wonderful scale of human demeanor entrusting subtle relationships, morals and ethics, integrity in one's perspective, issues related to environmental and human's responsibility towards it, rapid high term growth without gains and intricacies of human emotions in whole. The stories are the amalgamation of the life of the central character Rahul who is equipped with the creative cycle of all the wholeness of the emotions. The poems are subtle, imaginative and innovatively abstract just like the view in the frosted glass.
My Take: The book is passionately expressed by the author in a contemporary and modern writing style and is one of the best works of all his books I've read. I enjoyed the softness of exuberance and toughness of woes and ignominy in the context. The book has this beautiful aspect of latent rejuvenation which the reader would feel in its essence.
Critique: The book is undoubtedly unique in perspective but I found some of the things to be irrelevant in the domain and could have been skipped. Other than that, it is a sublime work of imagination blended with reality.
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5
P.S. Frosted glass! Are you too thrilled with the title?
'Frosted Glass' written by Sabarna Roy is a collection of mesmerising stories and poems. I have read other works of Sabarna Roy and have liked all of them. The book has two sections- one consists of 14 short stories and another part consists of 21 narrative poems.
What I found unique about this book was the protagonist of all the 14 stories are named 'Rahul', but every story is different and unique from each other. These stories are really thought provoking, they portrays different aspects of life like emotions, morals, relationships, desires, human thoughts and environment issues. The most beautiful part of the book is the poem. They all are beautifully written by the author. I really loved the them.
Book is well written and thought provoking. The language of the book is simple and lucid. I enjoyed the poems the most. Remarkable job by the author. Overall it is a good one time read. Must recommend for all.
This book is a blend of short stories and poem, consisting of 14 short stories and 21 poems. The author has very well managed to revoke one's emotion while reading this book and also potraits the dark side of our society.
The stories mainly revolve around the protagonist named Rahul. Each short story depicts each stages of Rahul's life. Each stages which includes many hardships faced by him, love life, getting cheated by his loved ones, dreams, desire to reach his goals etc and also many factors which hinders the growth while striving to reach his dreams. The author has made sure that one can connect to any stage of their life to that of Rahul while reading this book.
Beautifully penned with simple and lucid language, the book maintains a balance between the stories and the poem. For people looking for books with short stories packed with emotions, then this is the book you are looking for.
Here comes another amazing work by Sabarna Roy. The book is divided into two cycles, one consisting of 14 short stories and the other consisting 21 poems. Rahul is the protagonist in all the short stories. They are based on his life and their experiences. The author has narrated the stories based on Rahul's life, love, desires and many more things. The plot of the stories are based in Kolkata. This book takes us to many phases of his life. It also takes us to flash backs. There are a lot of points to learn from his life. They show us the sides of people that most of us hide. We dont show who are most of the times. Mostly these stories highlight the dark phase of human life. Love, lust and betrayals are also the part of the story. It's really great that the author covered these amazing topics in his book.
The poems are really amazingly written. They will surely calm your mind and give you peace. These poems are deep and beautiful. Everyone will surely connect to them.
The book is surely amazing. Everyone should give it a read. The language used was simple and the characterization was awesome. Kudos to the author.
Frosted Glass comprises one story cycle consisting of 14 stories and one poem cycle consisting of 21 poems.
The protagonist of every story is Rahul, but his stories keeps on changing with every chapter. Each stories describes about the issue between men and women's relationship, class inequality, and more stuff like that. Through Rahul, Author has tried to portray every man who face similar issues in life questioning about their very existence. It might get confusing in the beginning as the name Rahul is repeated in every story but, their story is different.
The poems were emotional and beautifully written. The Author describes about love in various different ways, but each is special in their own way.
Each tale uses same name of protagonist with different surnames, I thought this is to universalize the character and emotions like- broken friendship, first love, lost love, carnal desires & sadness. There are constant talks about raping girls, Odepius complex in worst form (a mother wanting to have her son as lover), a gay couple raping a girl together, and a guy exploiting a girl merely of 12 year age.I don’t wanna be harsh on this book but it is definitely not for me as many horrible acts were narrated in an insensitive way. I understand that this book ought to represent the dark side of man & woman and maybe the people like the protagonist and other side characters of these stories exist, they definitely do to some extend but this book only explore the darkness of such men whereas a solution or maybe a mockery by the author would’ve been helpful to digest such immorality.Still, there were some passages that were quite good and one character- Nandita, I liked her description. I loved the narration and the style of writing. This author sounds promising. Quotes-I feel all of us think on similar lines. We don’t think, do we? Thoughts invade our minds. It’s only the sheaths of pretence that make us all look so different. •But love comes all of a sudden, like a thunderstorm. It comes accidentally, in the most incongruous of circumstances. •That is why people feared her as if she was nature’s most forgiven devil and as such, gods were on her side.
Frosted glass by sabarna Roy is a compilation of 14 stories and 21 poems. The stories are set in Kolkata and about protagonist Rahul how he reacts and faces the different situations happening to his life like his love, ambition , physical attraction, betrayal etc. The 21 verses are so narrative and the author has brought our daily life matters successfully and beautifully in the poems. As the book uses same name for each story at the end while looking back into the entire book I felt some difficulty in connecting the dots which doesn't exist. Apart from that the book is well written and stories are also interesting. The book cover and name is very apt for the book.On the whole it is a good one time read.
Frosted Glass written by Sabarna Roy consist of 21 Poems and 14 stories, which is a faultless mixture of stories and poems, stories are matchless once you read the stories and poems. The First Part is a Collection of Stories. It focus on the theme of up-to-the-minute connections fundamentally the politics of affection and harm. The stories are cruel, ruthless and the reality. The name of protagonist is Rahul which is same in every story so it is very puzzling for me and will be for the reader but as I continual the story, the charming narration of author will make it easy to understand. The leading role is a nowhere to be found lover and he put pen to paper too. Surrounded by the all stories I loved "An Improbable Love Affair" the greatest. Rahul represents present men. Through Rahul the density of human thoughts is described. The stories are fresh and good and very deep or expressive. The Lie is also one of my favorite story by Sabarna Roy. “The Lie - In a flick of poetry, desire, excitement and duty what's the product of a lie?” The stories are written with humble language but I sensed that the author is trying to enhance the lines but she is unsuccessful in it at times. The Second Part is a Collection of Poems. All the poems are written with a Very Good Poetic Wisdom. All the Poetries are Must Read for somebody who love Poems. All poems are well scripted, well recruited and associated to the bibliophile effortlessly. The poet has attractively manufactured the tiny hints in the book portraying our day-to-day life. The Language of the Book is a bit difficult and not understandable by a beginner. The Cover of the Book is Magnificent and marvelous. The Title of the Book is Fascinating.
The book consists of 14 stories and 21 poems every chapter starts with same name protagonist Rahul. The book cover and title really catching. Title fits the theme well. This is my second book by this author I m overwhelmed with joy by this one. The topics range from man, women, rape, depression, sexual needs, flaws. I like this book unique and thought provoking. Overall good read Recommended!
The book 'Frosted Glass' by Sabarna Roy consists 14 stories and 21 poems.
All the stories are set in Calcutta and revolves around the same character named Rahul and each and every story is well formatted. Every story is different from each other containing an element of emotion which shows us how our emotions can often lead us to a wrong way in life. Rahul also writes beautiful poems for his loved ones in the book. Every poem is beautiful in it's own way and are well written.
The book felt a bit confusing in between to me but overall it was a good read. The language is quite simple and easy to read. The title of the book is unique and good and the cover of the book is excellent. Plot of the stories are great. Pick this up if you want to read something different from your regular routine.
'Frosted Glass' is a collection of 14 short stories and 21 poems which focuses mainly on the modern-day relationships that we come across every day. Strangely in the stories section, the protagonist name is same in all the stories which might be confusing for some people. But each story is unique with different character and plot altogether.
The stories have so much depth to it and are narrated in a raw manner. The author had explained the human emotions and how our thoughts, jealousy, the ego can lead to disastrous events in our lives. The way the characters chat so casually about raping a girl, the marriage nowadays which has become purely materialistic and the betrayal of a friend, the lost love and so on depict out human nature really well and it has been portrayed by the author very brilliantly.
Although the stories have a lot of sexual content, you need to read carefully and concentrated on the storyline to understand the in-depth meaning of the stories. The author did not hold back in showcasing the emotions in a very harsh and raw manner. The book also gives us beautiful details of Kolkata and Mumbai and the events that occurred like plague, communist movement etc.
And the poems focus on the emotion Love in the form of friendship, mother's love etc. It focuses on our want of love in our lives. Just like any of his poetries these poems too require you to read thoroughly and slowly to understand the depth and meaning the author is trying to explain.
The author's choice of words is commendable and it requires you to have a little higher comprehension skill to read his stories and poems. For a beginner, this book might be a little difficult to understand.
Overall it was a great read and I recommend this book to everyone.
The book "Frosted glass" is divided into parts. The first part consists of short stories that revolve around a single name Rahul. Now, you might be wondering why will there be so many short stories about a particular person? Well, we are wrong here. Rahul is a collective noun here. It is the representation of various faces we have around us. But are tied together by deeds, morals and infidelity. And that is the best part about Roy's writing. He embarks a difficult way of writing that unveils the loopholes and cynic side of our society. Roy's writings are always honest and bold. He writes about the dark side of human nature and its consequences. This book is also the same. Through his short stories, he explores the dark aspects of human nature, sexual relationships, immorality and marriage. His writing is raw and bold which i feel not everyone can decode.
The second part is a collection of poems. Here comes the part that I find really hard to gasp. His poetries are dispersed and out of place in my opinion. Apart from his poetries, I really like his ability to weave such dark and cynic stories that can impact the readers in such a short period of time. It was a 3.5 star read for me.
Book: Frosted Glass By: Sabarna Roy -------------------------------------------------------------------- Poems are something that I really like very very much, that's why I was really anticipated by this book when I came to know about this one by Sabarna Roy.

“We even find it painful to be men – real men of flesh and blood, with our own private bodies; we’re ashamed of it, and we long to turn ourselves into something hypothetical called the average man.” — Notes from Underground, Fyodor Dostoyevsky
This book is a collection of 14 Stories and 21 poems, about melancholy and politics of love and loss. Each story has a male protagonist named Rahul.
This novel explores the dark side of humans, their deepest and darkest desires, ones they keep hidden in themselves because of their ethics and moral obligation. Whereas I agree these thoughts shouldn't be promoted in any way but one cannot deny their existence.
Author has done a wonderful job in exploring the dark side. His writing style is something I have taken a liking to. The way he has portrayed all of this is commendable. I guess it is a mystery of how human mind functions and sometimes too unethically. Everyone is wired differently is what has been told through this collection.
Also poems were beautifully written and expressed.
This novel is not for the light hearts, read it only if you can take it and wouldn't get influenced easily. You will come across many scenarios where you won't like the thinking process of the characters, but I guess that is exactly why it is a Dark Genre.
Frosted glass is another book by Sabarna Roy and it's worth reading. It has been presented in ways, one is collection of 21 stories and in all those masterpiece, the protagonist is named as Rahul.
These stories are entangled around the relationships of Rahul and how he goes ahead with the flow of time. This book or story helps you to understand how to control emotions. The quality is so.raw and it hits hard emotionally.
So I can say that this book depicts the complex nature of human behaviour, thoughts, and emotion and which don't controlled well how hard it can affect the personal life.
