Cryssie knows Jed Hunter's type―ruthless, wealthy and used to women falling at his feet. But when Jed offers her a job, she has to she has her sister and nephew to support.
Working with Jed is exhilarating, until he demands Cryssie marry him―for the business! Cryssie can either walk away from the man she loves, or marry Jed―knowing that she may never unfreeze his heart….
It’s funny that I gave this book such a low review. I’ve reread it and honestly, I don’t remember reading it previously. Either way, I very much enjoyed the story. Nothing exciting, or bombs exploding, or raunchy sex scenes. Just a funny love story where both protagonists learn much about themselves and what it means to live. This would make a very nice Hallmark movie.
i prefer hot scorching chemistry or a high level of angst to this one! this one is a sweetie but not my cup of tea. hero fell for her more for practicality reasons than anything. i really hesitated between a 2 or 3 star bcoz the book is really nice!
Cryssie Rowe speaks her mind often. It doesn't take her long after meeting muti business owner, Jeremy "Jed" Hunter before she gives him a piece of her mind about how he runs his local toy store. Imagine her shock when she learns the next day that he has bought out the company she works for. Right away, all the employees, including her because she is the sole provider for herself, her sister and her nephew, begin worrying about their jobs. When he lets her know that he is tearing the place down in favor of a hotel he also offers her a job as his personal assistant. The more they work together the more the attraction grows. Suddenly Jed wants a marriage agreement between them so they wouldn't be confined to a 9-5 work hours. Shocked, Cryssie quickly refuses, Jed doesn't love her! When her co-workers plan to reopen in a different location, Cryssie feels it's her obligation to go with them and she gives her resignation. Seeing her seriousness, Jed changes his plans in order to keep her around. It takes a late night emergency before he realizes he loves her for the right reasons.
Some parts of the story were OK. I actually liked the working relationship between the Jed and Chryssie. Didn't feel the passion or love. A lot of telling and not a lot of showing. Way too much of the martyrdom with Chryssie and her sister. I actually found it to be annoying. I didn't get the point of the multiple mentions of past relationships of both Jed and Chryssie since it didn't add anything to the story.
