"Genesis-Numbers" is another excellent entry in the Expository Commentary Series by Crossway Publishing. As with other titles in the series, there is a lot to like about this book:
- Easy to read and understand text that exegetes the Bible verses being addressed. Suitable for both pastors and laypeople who either want to better teach and/or understand God's Word from an admittingly conservative viewpoint. - Covers 4 of the first 5 books in the Bible. - Contains an excellent and very helpful scripture index for cross-referencing other Bible verses that are being covered. - Includes several helpful tables addressing several topics in the 4 books covered in this volume. - Has a good preface that helps the reader understand the specific goals the contributors to each book strives to achieve. - Very good layout for each chapter with the typical format: 1) Specific Bible verses in the ESV Bible, 2) Section overview and outline, 3) Comment and exegesis of the verses, 4) Closing comments on the section being covered. Very well-organized and easy to follow. - Also includes very helpful and well-summarized footnotes.
As with other entries in this series, this volume is excellent, very helpful and easy to understand, a well-made product (in quality of contents and material the book of), and deserves to be on the shelf in anyone's study who wants to learn more about God's Word. Highly recommended.
I was given a review copy by Crossway in exchange for a fair review and appreciate the opportunity.
