Very basic pool safety rules told by way of rhyming text that’s somewhat forced at times, HICCUP’s SAFE SPLASH SPECTACULAR is a small format picture book geared towards pre-K thru Kindergarten students.
Colorful, expressive characters with easy to remember rules are accompanied by an occasional puzzle within the artwork: find these items, how many of these are there? and so on. These are simple but fun ad ons for youngsters.
What’s not so simple is reading the book on a smartphone. The book will not display in landscape position. In portrait mode, the text is very small and cannot be “blown up” or recast. If it’s read on a tablet, you can use landscape position and the images are much bigger and easier to read.
A good book to begin introducing your littles to water safety; pools or otherwise. It won’t be a definitive volume but it will be a good tool to start conversations📚

"Hiccup's Safe Splash Spectacular" by Dave Ball is a captivating children's book that I thoroughly enjoyed. The story revolves around Papa Hiccup, who aims to make pool time both fun and safe for kids.
In this book, children learn important safety tips such as finding an adult if another child is in trouble, walking carefully around the pool, and floating on their backs to relax. It emphasizes the importance of having an adult present during pool activities.
Reading this book to my nephew was a delightful experience, and it served as a great tool to teach him about pool safety. well done
This was a well done story advising children on pool safety and what to look for. The illustrations were well done. My only problem was it was very difficult to read on my phone.

not what I expected
This was a fine children’s book about pool safety. Not much happened and the safety advice was pretty vague. I had hoped for more of a “toddler guide” for pool safety that they would be interested in.

Informative and useful guide for children about swimming pool rules
The book explains the importance of following rules in the swimming pool so that all of the children have fun and are also safe. Good illustrations and neat read for children.

Hiccup likes to play in the pool and the area around it. He follows the rules of pool safety both in and out of the water. Can you follow the rules?
This is a delightful story for toddlers just going to the pool for the first time. I liked how the rules are given and explained. The why of rules is just as important as the rules. Hiccup understands why the rules are given so he and his friends can have a lot more fun. Your little one will enjoy this tale as they begin learning to swim.
