Exploring with best friends Audacity and Charley, the Doctor delights in showing them the wonders of the universe. But something dogs their footsteps...
Lost Amongst the Stars by Rochana Patel - The Doctor wants to find a challenge for Charley and Audacity. All of time and space awaits, with wonders beyond their wildest dreams and darkest nightmares, but are they truly ready to venture further out amongst the stars?
The Time You Never Had – Parts One and Two by Tim Foley - The yesterday of opulence Tomorrow soft and ironclad Beyond the merry Oculus: The time you never had.
Lost among the stars- In which the 8th Foctor, Audacity & Charley Pollard end up in the 56th cenrury and find an exploratory expedition on a rogue planet between star systems. When they find out why its a rogue planet and find out what it is going to cost our Noble heroes the price alters them forever. It is a great tale with consequenses. Easily 5 out of 5 stars.
The time you never had 1&2 - Which is about time travel and when through human action two timelines come together Audacity will find herself in two timelines. The Doctor has to find a way to keep two lines seperate and alive.
The connecting between the two stories is a new agency called the Causeway which is new enemy and is fully aware of the Doctor and his companions.
Audacity finds out more about herself than she wanted and it is heartbreaking. Charley Pollard finds out that there is still a problem from when the Doctor saved her from a sure death. Both ladies find out that there are temporal issues that change their lives.
Both stories are quite brilliant and prove that the TV sold the 8th Doctor way short. They should do a season with the 8th Doctor and Big Finish writers just to show the world what it missed.
These stories are very great still very good, I bought the early 8th Doctors in the early years of this New century and rediscovering him recently.
An atmospheric and enjoyable tale.I think Rochana Patel is shaping up to be one of Big Finishes better writers having now enjoyed more than a few of her tales now (Bernice Blood and Steel-Ubermensch and recent Missy -Dark Gallifrey springs to mind)Jaye Griffiths gets to play edgy.Amn sure BF should allow her a shot at being possessed by The Mara (funnily enough off handedly They are hinted at in the final part of tale and an ideal location for it to have occurred too)Am sure when directed and coaxed she would bring a very suitable vocal to that possession. I wish TV would sort out the cross over of audio writers to TV as even at their worst the BF team are better than anything i have watched on TV for years. The Tardis team are definitely a strong one and i find myself looking forward to their next audios much the same as i was with LIv and Helen till they did the cop out with Liv and back tracked the Timeline anyways am trying to moan less 😂 onwards to second tale and find out more about the seeded Causeway
THE TIME YOU NEVER HAD ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
.I consider the story quite a thrilling ride especially in the second part full on interesting developments and plenty of excitement ,thrills and superb vocal acting and both tales developing Audacity as a character (Jaye performs excellently)and this may be a “reset” story but its very much for Audacity a reset with far reaching consequences for her psyche. The seeds of the future are very much sown and plenty of thought provoking and exciting possibilities for The Causeway theme.(and great chat up line from a character 😂) Got to say i loved it and definitely relistenable both tales.am going to give it a 5
The Causeway is something we've been hearing a lot about in the past few 8th Doctor sets; it looks like now is finally time to find out what's really going on and what we're in for.
Lost Amongst the Stars: Wanting to find a challenge for Audacity and Charley, The Doctor takes them to the height of the human frontier, but in doing so he and a ship's crew come across a civilization that was only rumoured to exist. Something sinister is hiding in the darkness, and not everyone will make it out alive.
Rochana Patel has written a very atmospheric and intense survival horror story set on a rogue planet in space. This is a dark and oppressive episode where the stakes are personal but high. Brilliant stuff. 10/10
The Time You Never Had: After coming across a fracture in time, the Doctor, Audacity and Charley go to Openhagen in Denmark, where the sinister corporation calling itself the Causeway is at play. Time is at stake, and unless the Doctor closes the tear in reality, all of existence is in terrible danger. Audacity is at the heart of it.
Tim Foley has written an incredible 2 parter, that wonderfully wraps up some of the Causeway stuff while setting up more stuff for the future. A really powerful and well-written two-parter with plenty of emotional moments and interesting timey-wimey shenanigans. 10/10
Lost Among the Stars - OH MY! I knew this era couldn’t last, because we’ve already had adventures that occur after this with The (Eighth) Doctor, but it still came as quite an unexpected shock. And there are some very dark themes and threats in this one as well. I loved it! . (5/5)
The Time You Never Had - Coming off the previous episode, I was particularly worried that we might lose Audacity this time. I mean, we know it won’t continue. Although, as there is time travel at work here, it could be quite some time before the end comes. But the end will come, sometime. With one being two hours long, twice the length of the usual episode, I was again thinking: oh no, is this going to be it? So, perhaps they misplaced these two by putting them in the same box set. It’s almost too audacious for the listener to deal with (sorry, couldn’t resist). By pairing these two stories up this way, I feel like some of the potential shock, fall out, and tension for this story was squandered because it follows the previous story. Still good. But the emotional impact is not what it could have been. (4/5)
Lost Amongst the Stars: ugh I love an ecological horror but why does Charley keep going "oh how I love travelling with the doctor it's so fun!" We get it you don't need to spell it out for us 😭 3.5/5
The Time you Never Had - OH SHIT ALTERNATE TIMELINE SHENANIGANS. WHY CAN'T AUDACITY CATCH A BREAK HOLY SHIT. I want a series of her and Barrabus travelling the alternate timeline, seeing Audacity be a bit more beaten up by time would be awesome, because realistically she can't be around for much longer. Also that teaser at the end is fun im so excited.
I think if the first story was a bit stronger I'd rate this higher because the dialogue in the first story has me raising an eyebrow occasionally. But MAN that second story more than makes up for it.
I always love the eighth doctor. And I love Audacity. I'm not sure why we had to add Charley in but I liked that Audacity really got some focus in the second part.
