You name it, I probably heard it. I heard it so much, I believed it. Why wouldn’t I? No one besides my best friends ever stuck around, and they were as messed up as me.
Then Dakota came along. He was everything I wasn’t. Smart. Educated. He had a big family who loved and cared about him. He should have run the other way when he saw me, but he didn’t.
Brick by brick, Dakota destroyed the walls that had been around my heart. As much as I tried to protect myself, Dakota made it impossible, weaving his way into my soul until he was a part of me, and I couldn’t breathe without him. He showed me that I deserved good things. That I was worthy of love.
Just when I thought I could finally be happy, someone tried to come in and destroy all that Dakota and I had been building. He thought he could come in and claim the one person who made me feel whole? The one person that I could allow myself to love and love me in return?
I don’t think so.
Dakota Kelly was forever mine and God help anyone who tried to touch him.
Forever Mine is a standalone story in the Forever universe. While it's not necessary to read Forever Always first, the characters and events from the previous book are discussed and it may enhance the reading experience if read in order.
Forever Mine contains content that may not be suitable for all readers. This story contains explicit sexual content, discussions of past abuse and food insecurity, mental illness, depression, possessive and codependent MCs, and stalking (not by the MC). A detailed content warning can be found in the beginning of the book.
Jacey is an M/M and Fantasy/Paranormal fiction writer. I wish we got to see more of how their relationship developed. The jump from the prologue to chapter 1 was . . . drastic, so it felt like it left a lot unanswered.
I did enjoy them together though, and watching Jay slowly accept he deserved love. Dakota’s family was really great, and I loved that they both had so much support from them.
Dakota was such a sweet, calming presence for Jay. He really was able to give Jay unconditional love and support which he never got to experience before (besides from Beck and Riley)
I also really enjoyed the suspense aspect of the story.
Omg Jay and Kota 💜💙💜💙💜💙💜 I loved these two!!! This book was so super sweet!!! I loved how committed Dakota was to Jay from day one. Such a strong MMC. Jays broken boy self was so easy to love and I loved how much he tried and did things he knew would help his relationship with Kota. Just when I thought this book was going to be about the two coming together while Jay was learning to trust himself and feel loved we hit a complete 180 and get a stalker!!!!!
{Forever Mine} Arc review by Jessie Melka ___________•___________
“I wasn’t going anywhere, not unless Jay told me to. In fact, if I had my way, I’d never leave him alone again.”
SHORT BLURB START:
Failure. Trash. Loser. Unlovable.
SHORT BLURB END:
Forever Mine is book 2 Tho This is a standalone, but honestly, you get much more history from reading “forever always” first before diving into Dakota and Jay’s story I really enjoyed reading both but Forever Mine is the best in my opinion
Forever Mine playes hard into the found family aspect which I always appreciate I think some of the first books I ever read with found family and I don’t know, it just stuck with me ever since
There is just something so beautiful about finding a family among those who are not by blood
“I wanted to say something, but words weren’t wording right now. All I could do was stare at my beast of a boyfriend as he took what was his.”
well Forever mine and forever always has a lot of the family aspect in that they have been together since childhood and fought through all the tough times together and they’re still there, still together much can be said about the ruthless street rats as they call himself but loyalty to each other it’s not something that will ever change.
We first meet Jay and Dakota in forever always they met at a really inconvenient time but somehow they still found a way to be happy. Also I think it was great timing of the universe to bring them together when Jay was a place of grief and need Dakota magically appears in Jays live and they find each other through hard times even though Dakota didn’t necessarily think Jay was his type they did bring us the most spiciest spice and deep chemistry
“I never felt the way I feel about you, about anyone. You consume me, Kota. You make me whole. I love Beck and Riley like brothers, but that is nothin’ compared to the way you make me feel. You’re like oxygen. I don’t think I could breathe without you.”
The book is heavily romance focused but it isn’t just the relationship that is focused on Dakota is being stalked by someone and seriously I had so many suspects in mind but I was extremely shocked when the perpetrator finally made his move even tho it wasn’t planned but I was happy when I found out he was on my suspect list, don’t get me wrong I was still shocked!
Jay is going through so much trauma and Dakota is there just trying to show him how much he deserves to be loved and cared for. They both have a lot of insecurities that needed to be worked through, but in the end I’m so glad to see the way Jay stepped up
I decided to rate this a 4 1/2 star out of five a whopping half the more than forever always I just think that Jay and Dakota story was been on my style. I know I’m a Færk for dark romance but I have such a hard time with the specific triggers in the others guys if you do decide to go into the series I strongly recommend you check the trigger warnings beforehand you also really have to remember that just because you can’t handle the trigger doesn’t mean it’s bad writing
Rating: 4.5/5 Spice: 3.5/5 Angst: 4/5 Would I read again?: yesss
(I received an advance copy for free and I’m leaving this review voluntarily)

Forever Mine a standalone story in the Forever universe. While it's not necessary to read Forever Always first, the characters and events from the previous book are discussed and it may enhance the reading experience if read in order. This is the story of Jay and Dakota. Please read the trigger warnings before you start. I loved Jay and Dakota so much because they are both working through some trauma. I love the steam between these two. I loved the side characters also Dakota's family. I hope we get more stories set in this universe. I would definitely recommend this book.
I received this ARC edition of this book in exchange for an honest review. It can be acquired on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited!
--What he didn’t realize was every time he took a step back to protect himself, he hurt me even more….every time he shut down was another dagger to my already fragile heart.--
This medium paced, 220-page MM romance e-book is written in a duel POV in alternating chapters. It’s a hardcore opposites attract, grumpy sunshine trope that’s has a slight whiplash because of how drastic their differences are in personality and life styles.
--I didn’t want to end up on one of those Netflix documentaries….--
This dark romance starts out with a loss, which brings our two men together. Even though Dakota sees a ‘damaged and unworthy’ man, he also sees a heart worth protecting in Jay. However, Jay struggles in the first 80 pages that was dreadful. Once passed the hump of binge, danger and suspicion arise around every corner, when an unknown creeps on Dakota. From here, it was a great read! It was written to make you feel the sense of tension the men were feeling.
The ensemble created a good break from the darkness and the twisty mystery. Dakota’s family and Jay’s friends added another level of love, protection, and humor that was needed. I wouldn’t have complained if more of them had been added. Dakota’s mom is my MVP character! And a heads up, Jay's friends, Riley & Beck, have their own book called FOREVER ALWAYS, that’s takes place before this novel.
--"I never felt the way I feel about you. About anyone. You consume me…you make me whole….You’re like oxygen. I don’t think I can breathe without you.”--
The romance was proof that everyone deserves love no matter the past or background of the individual. Jay’s past of abuse, neglect, and deprivation of love made him into a man of survival. Dakota saw someone who needed support and love and proved to Jay that he was worth everything. Their chemistry was sensitive…touch deprived. Which led to really hott and detailed spice! 4/5🌶! The apartment christening made me SWEAT!
--How many times will this man shatter me with his view of the world?--
This novel of life struggles and deceit was written with phenomenal detail. However, the beginning really threw me into a triggered dark spiral, so I have to say it wasn’t for me. It doesn’t mean I or you are weak. It just means we all have struggles in life, and the author, Jacey Davis, wrote these struggles of addiction, depression and trauma realistically and from the heart. That is a talent.
**NOTE: Trigger warning is listed at the beginning of the book.
This is the story of Jay and Dakota, and it's not an easy one to read. Please be aware of the TW. This book is a standalone in the Forever universe and I would recommend you to read "Forever Always" first, not only because it's a beautiful book, but also because you're going to appreciate "Forever Mine" even more.
Jay and Dakota meet in hospital, in a very vulnerable moment. My heart broke with the first pages of the book. Dakota is a really fascinating character for me, because he represents this admirable kind of partner who is never ever going to give up the person he loves. The dedication he puts into Jay's wellbeing is described with so much care and detail, it left me happy and satisfied despite the difficult situation the MC's are facing. Therefore, you can imagine how complex this character is. Lacey Davis did the great job depicting him with all his insecurities, his trust issues and the self doubt.
Seeing him falling in love with Kota and especially admitting his feelings made me so happy, because he's finally able to experience positive, healthy emotions.Jay is broken. What he went through is something I would never ever wish to anybody, not even to my worst enemy. Therefore, you can imagine how complex this character is. Lacey Davis did the great job depicting him with all his insecurities, his trust issues and the self doubt. You want to know what's going on. You want this book to end because you are craving the happy ending for Jay and Kota.
On the other side, you don't want it to end, because the book is very well written, the MCs and the side characters are beautifully depicted, and you can feel so much love, self growth and healing in this story that you just want more of it.
That's the reason why I'm really looking forward for the next installation of the seriesThe storyline ist full of action, dark moments and suspence, making it both angsty and full of tension. You want to know what's going on, you want this book to end because you are craving the happy ending for Jay and Kota. You don't want it to end, because it's very well written, the MCs and the side characters are beautifully depicted, and you can feel so much love, self growth and healing in this story that you just want more of it. That's the reason why I'm really looking forward for the next installation of the series.
This was an interesting story. It held my attention with the bit of mystery and suspense mixed in. I really loved both Jay and Dakota. They were so cute together and both so sweet!
My heart was in pieces for beautifully broken Jay. All he needed was someone to love him unconditionally and he just kept getting left behind. He grew so much throughout the story and that really made me happy. I loved how he was with Dakota, so protective and vigilant.
Dakota was such a sweetheart! He was so adoring and nurturing with Jay. Giving him a safe place to let his guard down. He was so good with his family and Jay's friends too. He always knew when Jay needed support.
I would have liked to have seen a little more of the build up to them getting in the relationship. It was like we know they meet then boom all of a sudden they are dating. I would have liked to have seen those feelings build up to that point. I also would have liked to have had a more in depth look at Jay's history. We are told he's been though stuff but we don't get to see it. It just left it a little lacking and didn't build the connection to the characters as much.
I liked the mystery and suspense. It kept me glued to the pages because I had come to really care for these characters. They whole story drew me in and I didn't want to put it down until I finished it. If you like scared characters than I think you will enjoy this one. I would recommend it!
↓↓ Oh these boys. My heart hurt for them both but I really felt the pain that Jay was in daily and the self sabotaging thoughts he had. I love that Kota was there for him though, always reassuring him and never leaving his side.
This kept me on my toes of who it was. When I thought I had it figured out, something else happened that had me questioning everything. When things hit the fan, it was not what I was expecting.
After everything, Kota and Jay knew they needed to get better mentally for not only themselves but for their relationship and each other as well. These two were end game and it definitely showed in the lengths they went for each other.

“Forever Mine” was a wonderful read! From the very first page, I was hooked by the raw, vulnerable voice of Jay, whose journey of self-discovery and healing felt so deeply authentic. The relationship between him and Dakota was nothing short of magic—filled with tenderness, passion, and a deep emotional connection that brought me to tears more than once.
What I loved most was how Dakota didn’t just see the broken pieces of Jay but the person beneath, showing him that he was worthy of love and happiness. Their bond grew naturally, breaking down walls and creating something beautiful and enduring. It wasn’t just a romance—it was a story of hope, resilience, and finding your person when you least expect it.
The emotional stakes were high, especially when outside forces threatened their hard-won happiness, but it only made their love feel even more powerful. I appreciated the content warnings at the beginning, as they allowed me to prepare for the heavier themes, which were handled with care and sensitivity. ❤️
Standalone but part of the author’s Forever universe. Age gap. Semi-established relationship. Hurt/comfort. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.
Working as an ICU nurse, Dakota sees something in Jay while the man is there visiting his dying mother, Dakota befriends Jay and then continues to seek more. But even once Dakota and Jay are a committed couple, Jay has doubts of his worthiness and it begins to cause problems for them. As Dakota and Jay work on solidifying their relationship, both not willing to walk away, they also have to deal with a possible stalker which brings them even closer together.
I enjoyed that Dakota and Jay were already a couple at the beginning of the book, the immediate spice, and the turmoil between them that both are willing to fight against. Both these characters were likable and true to their backgrounds and there was a strong sense of their emotional attachment and love. I appreciated both sets of family and found family being supportive and important and that I never doubted for a minute that Dakota and Jay would find their HEA. 4.5 rounded up
Jay had been told so many times that he was a failure, trash, a loser and unlovable that he had started to believe it. Then Dakota came along. He was everything Jay wasn't. Smart. Educated. He had a big family who loved and cared about him. He should have run the other way when he saw Jay, but he didn’t, weaving his way into his soul until he was a part of him, and he couldn’t breathe without him. Then someone tried to come in and destroy all that Dakota and Jay had been building. He thought he could come in and claim the one person who made Jay feel whole. To Jay Dakota Kelly was forever mine and God help anyone who tried to touch him.
I loved this story with the tormented Jay and determined Dakota who were both obsessed with each other and the man who decided that Dakota was his and that he would take him. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was a very dramatic story with lots of associated emotions and feelings. This was an MM story with mature content.
Jay is a wreck and needs someone to love him, be there for him. In steps Dakota. These two meet and the relationship is a bit fast but it wasnworth reading. Dakota gives Jay what he needs. These two also realize they have to work on themselves individually too. While Jay had more growth, Dakota had some too. There's some mystery and drama that worked for me. I liked these two as a couple. I think the world and character building are good. The story good as well. I do wish I had read book 1 so maybe some of the other characters would've been more clear to me but I don't think it's imperative to enjoy this book. There is hurt/comfort, mystery/suspense and romance aspects. I did think Jay's inner renumerations was a little repetitive at the beginning and the mystery started a little late but a solid, enjoyable book.
Whilst reading Forever Always, I was interested in Jay and when Dakota came into the picture I wanted to know their story. The story starts with Dakota, a nurse noticing a quiet man, sitting by his mom's bedside . Always at the hospital never saying a word and something in him triggered all of Dakota's nurturing abilities. I loved this story and whilst at times it was emotional to read I loved that Jay had no chance with Dakota and Dakota was determined to never leave Jay. Watch Dakota help Jay come to realise that he is loveable, and that he deserved all the love. Watching the found family expand thanks to Dakota and I loved his mom and dad. However, as with Forever Always, there is someone who does not want them to have their HEA and then the pace of the book intensified, picking up my reading pace. If you like your dark read to have loveable characters then grab this book
This is the first book i have read by this author, and i can’t wait to read more. Thankfully this book can be read as a stand-alone without getting too confusing about other character’s and events that happened in the first book of the series, in fact there is only one name from previous book you end up not being fully sure of the connection/history, but it does not take away from this story line at all. Jay (former bad-boy) and Dakota (nurse) are absolutely great. The first few chapters to me felt a little repetitive with Jay’s inner turmoil but i love how understanding Dakota is with all of Jay’s issues. And holy plot twist later in the book. The suspense is great even if it did take a while to get to it, it has you on the edge of your seats.
I loved this powerful love story between Jay and Koda. There was with plenty of intense moments as the trust and love grows with their relationship. My heart broke for both of these men before the pieced it back together.
"I don't want to keep sabotaging us." "I know you don't, baby." "I'll probably do it again. I don't wanna. But I'll probably get scared again and do something to try to f**k this up. Please don't let me."
Beck and Riley are amazing supportive friends/family with the relationship between them and the guys as strong as ever.
I really enjoyed the style of writing and the language used. It brought a realness to Koda and Jay which kept me fully engaged and invested the whole way through the book.
I can't wait for the spin off series!! Highly recommend!!
I loved this book, the first half is very emotional and the second half has a bit of mystery and non relationship related angst. I couldn't put it down.
Jay is a beautiful but broken soul, and Dakota is just a sweetheart who really sees and loves Jay beyond his insecurities. They are already an established couple at the beginning of the book, but we observe them struggling through Jay's insecurities, and it's beautiful. Their chemistry is also strong.
Forever Mine is the second book in the Forever series of the author. While it's not necessary to read Forever Always first, characters and events from the previous book are discussed and I would recommend to read it first.
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
‘Every time he shut down was another dagger to my already fragile heart. I was already head-over-heels in love with Jay. He was it for me. I didn’t care about his past or the chaos he seemed to bring with him. I wanted it. I wanted every broken, scared, loving, sweet, loyal, brave piece of Jaylin Parks. I wasn’t going anywhere.’
Jay and Kota’s tragic love story highlights the strength that loving someone can give you, especially when tragedy strikes. Jay grew up in neglect, but finds his person in Dakota. Dakota finds the love of his life in Jay.
It is an uphill battle for these two men as they grow closer, but are marred in a dangerous dilemma, in Jacey Davis’ second book in her Forever series.
Jay and Dakota story was intense, dangerous, and filled with adrenaline and a couple of sensitive themes that make it important to read the trigger warnings as is not for the faint-hearted. Their chemistry was off the charts, but they had a couple insecurities caused by past hurts and trauma, as well as an unexpected development that brings a new complication and more danger to their life. I liked their friends and Dakota's family and the support they offered during hard times. I liked the protectiveness and possessiveness, as well as the gut feeling and paranoia that played a role in their wellbeing. I liked the story, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Emotional rollercoaster While Jay and Dakota are an opposites attract couple, it works for them. They help each other in many ways to be a better person. Just when things have improved for Jay and his found family, his relationship with Dakota hits a huge speed bump. Someone is stalking Dakota and wants Jay out of the way. This requires help from Wes and the crew from the Forever Always book. Between them and Dakota's family, they do their best to protect the couple as the stalker escalates. The action, suspense, twists and turns culminate in a satisfying conclusion. I couldn't stop reading because I was so invested in solving this mystery and getting to a happy ending.
This one was worse than the first book. I literally said I was looking forward to seeing how Dakota actually knew Jay but they don't know each other.
Six Months Before is how the story starts and it is the day his mom dies. Dakota offers him a sandwhich, judges Back and Riley and then calls time of death for Jay's mom. Six months later, the first scene is them having sex and you want me to believe they love each other??
It just didnt make sense to me. There was no build up to their relationship at all. All Jay did was doubt Dakota, be agressive and have sex.
I skimmed the last half of the book because I was just over it.
This was dark, raw, and gritty. Jay and Dakota both have traumatic pasts that continue to color and cause problems in their relationship. They both have lots of work to do, both individually and as a couple, in order to heal and move on. Then there's some twists and turns coming their way because someone wants Dakota and is willing to do whatever it takes to get him, even if it means going through Jay. The suspense kept me on my toes, and I loved the found family aspect of the other guys coming through to help.
I already loved Jay and Dakota so much from the minor glimpses we got in Beck and Riley's story. I was so excited to read theirs. Jay is such a sweetheart with so much trauma from his childhood. Dakota loves him so completely, even when it is hard. I loved how Dakota's family accepted Jay immediately. He needed more people to love him. Henry and him together brought me such joy. They certainly had to deal with a nightmare situation. I was glad they went to therapy afterward.
Jaylin and Dakota's story broke my heart many times. I am so happy we get their full story and it was quite the ride. Working through all Jay's lifetime of trauma is hard enough, but when Dakota's life gets turned upside down it feels like these two can never catch a break. Their love burns hot and they will literally do anything for each other. I read this all in one day I could not put it down. I hope to keep hearing more about them and Beckett and Riley in the next books.
Dakota was a nurse and Jay's mom was his patient until she died. Now they are lovers. Jay has so many issues, he won't let Dakota all the way in. I loved Dakota's family, Jay's friends and the hot, steamy times. But most of all, I loved the way Dakota stayed with Jay and didn't give up, the tenderness, love and support he showed. This was an awesome book and an exciting story I highly recommend. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.
Wow, this was one heck of a story! My emotions were all over the place throughout, from sadness at the beginning for Jay and what he was going through with his Mum, to happiness that he had a great boyfriend to help him through the tough, dark times. Then the shock as things got complicated, and on and on! But, it was a great, well written story and I loved both Jay and Dakota, and their friends and family circle were all so supportive and caring. Great read.
Dakota/Kota Kelly is an ICU nurse and is great at his job. Jaylin/Jay Parker’s mother is in Kota’s unit and barely hanging onto life. Everyday Kota brings food for Jay as he sits with his mother. This storyline is so intense from beginning to end. Jay has several issues and self doubts which Kota can read in his eyes. Kota has a stalker that Jay wants to “take care of” so Kota is safe. Friends and family are worried for both of them. The ending is totally a surprise and shocking.
This one was so good y’all! I love that there was no relationship angst… They were together and that was it and boy did they love each other. The steamy scenes are 🔥 .
Definite stalker action happening in this one and it was beautifully mastered and definitely kept me on my toes and turning the pages.
I am absolutely looking for more books from Miss Davis and can’t wait !!!
OH...... WOW........ Absolutely loved Forever Mine could not put it down its emotional, intense and dark love......love........ Jay & Dakota together their bond and love is something truly amazing & special despite all the trauma and pain they are both working through never giving up despite what life throws at them fighting hard for their HEA their found family is simply amazing and catching up with Beckett and Riley I recommend so much.
