Brutal, graphic and uncompromisingly angry.
Yes, Mr. Butcher’s singing is not for everyone, but that’s what you get if you stay too long at the karaoke.

But let’s discuss this book.
Who doesn’t like a good revenge story? Those of you with your hand in the air, you can leave the room now – it is not going to get better from here.

Who doesn’t like gore galore, let’s settle the score, get your jaw off the floor and prepare for more?
Buh-bye, then.

Who wants a trigger warning about certain subjects because, let’s face it, authors should use their magic balls to cater for your personal taste, since it’s more important to not offend your sensibilities than to tell the story?
Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Right, you sick mucks, this story will be brutal, graphic and uncompromisingly angry, so let’s see if the authors can push your buttons.

I think the world of Jonathan Butcher. One of the very select few in the literary community that I respect. So this was a collaboration of sorts with several other horror authors. Maybe it's because I read so many horror books, but I could definitely see where parts of the story deviated to the different writers. Not a bad thing and was rather inventive. The story is pretty straightforward and follows this obnoxious man who starts having these really awful things happen to the people around him. He explores what's happening and what he uncovers is something that is the definition of horror. The story could have used a lot more padding to round it all out, but it was fine as just a standard extreme horror. Some cool visuals, things that'll make you chuckle, and a good effort by a talented writer. For those of you unfamiliar with Butcher, I highly recommend Chocolateman, What Good Girls Do, and What Good Men Do.

The body stirs.

Wracked with pain, it drinks in a blinding light and an unfamiliar room’s calm white decor.

It remembers a vague dream in which it had clambered up a staircase, dragging itself through a trail of red that kept spilling onto the boards inches from its face. It had crawled through a house and out a doorway and into the dark night… and then it woke up here.

Very graphic and violent—some scenes in this book will probably make you wish you’d never opened it in the first place.

Stomach-churning, spine-tingling, brutal, vile—everything I could ever want from the extreme horror genre. I’m all in for the gore, the grotesque imagery, the mosh pit of blood, and the repulsive acts of human perversion.

This is not for the weak.

What an incredibly weird and unpredictable book! Often times in horror you can almost expect what’s coming next or predict the plot line… not here. No way, no how. This book took some unusual twists and turns. And the spiritual being aspect was definitely a unique creation. This book clearly had a lot of thought put it to make it what it is. It just goes to show you sometimes your lies and secrets aren’t safe and everything catches up to you eventually. Are any of us safe ?

Mr Butcher gives a brutal, shocking and very graphic read here, nothing is left unturned and the trigger warnings come at you like a runaway locomotive.
A page turner that is so extremely well written I couldn't put it down.
From start to finish I wasn't disappointed.

Well, I do love going into a book blind and when I saw the role call of contributing authors, I knew that I wanted to get my genitals deep into. I went in blind, I saw only mere shadows at first and then as the story became clear, so too did my vision. The blood, the gore, the devilment, the sheer talent. This is what I adore about splatterpunk. I love the sensation of nearly throwing up in my mouth, of gagging until my vision swims and questioning how much worse it can get. Spoiler, reader, it got a lot worse.

Enzo has shat on everyone his entire life. HIs wife-accepting him shagging around, and her not, her being resident in the kitchen and looking after his kid. He's fucked her in more ways than one. His son-bringing him up to be the next generation of Stone, just as sanctimonious, just as arrogant, just as ruthless as his father. This isn't some new character trait he's taken on, he's always wanted things his way-control is Enzo's middle name. One such time at a party when he was teen, he was determined to send a message...that is all I'll say on that.

The writing by all contributing authors was phenomenal. It was funny, descriptive, gory, violent, and I loved it. That scene with Enzo's father, written by Ryan Harding was an absolute blast! Also the chapter with Da'vita Stone-Holy shit, I may have become and instant Stuart Bray fan.

An absolutely unhinged read!

I happened to run across this impressively constructed novel from The JB Splatter Range in my library. "Your Loved Ones Will Die First" pulls you in from the beginning of the narrative and never lets up on its unbreakable grip. I have liked the few selections I have read by JB, but he pulls out all the stops on this one. He commandeers heavy hitters Megan Stockton, Stuart Bray, and Ryan Harding to write a portion of the voodoo death curses as they are enacted in the novel.

The target of the curse is the arrogant Enzo Stone, the son of a wealthy and powerful family. He has lived his idea of "the good life" for 17 years, but the path of destruction he left through innocent lives was not forgotten. The time that has passed has practically buried the memories of his heartless destruction of those lives so long ago. But the "chickens have come home to roost" and its time for the remorseless sociopath named Enzo Stone to pay the ultimate price.
His riches, connections, and ties with the power elite cannot save his loved ones and the Stone family from the wrath of vengeance summoned by black magic. Splatterpunk doesn't get better than this, crazy good!

Holy-Fucking-Shit! This is not for the faint of heart! This is all out insanity from the off and I am so here for it! Fast-paced, fucked-up, crazytown! This is Full Brutal! This will make you feel all the horrible things, you'll wince and gag and groan out loud. Your stomach will flip, your heart race and your mind will be blown (all over the wall probably!) This is some serious supernatural slaughter! The more you read, the further your jaw will drop!! 🖤

A disturbing prank as a teenager follows Enzo into adulthood with extreme consequences. His life takes a sudden unexpected turn and he has no idea wtf is going on, he tries to figure things out but there are so many misleading twists and turns that its not an easy thing to accomplish, and the insanity, merciless brutality and sick, twisted, debauchery just keep getting upped, right until the final act!

Every page, every paragraph, every sentence increases in its barbarity, until you feel like it can't get any worse. And then, BAM! It punches you directly in the face with an iron fist full of pain, shock, horror and sick, guilty excitement. A brilliant, bloody and torturous battle of wills that is completely addictive and very moreish! I wish it was longer! I need more!!

That's it, that's all I'm saying. I went into this blind and it blew me away! Grab it, hold on tight and enjoy the insanity! Oh, and it also has one of my fave lines EVER in a book! Thanks Ryan Harding! 👁️

“The Stones didn’t get sad - they got angry.”

A great group of authors came together to write this splattery supernatural story (say that 5 times fast).

Enzo Stone is part of a domineering family who thinks they are better than everyone else. With money and power, they take what they want, until the night someone gets their vengeance. In a brutal and violent manner, each member of the Stone clan will come up against their worst nightmares and the body count will grow and grow and grow.

I read a fair amount of horror/splatterpunk and a lot of the scenes still had me shocked! This one did not disappoint! I was sad it was so short to be honest.

"Your Loved Ones Will Die First" is an extreme horror and thriller that blends suspense and supernatural intrigue. The story is dark and ominous, cleverly building tension throughout. However, the book did not resonate with me as much as I had hoped. Butcher's writing is engaging, and the work contains many remarkable scenes; nonetheless, I was not captivated by it, which is no fault of the author. Overall, it was an amusing read, but for whatever reason, it did not satisfy me.

"𝑯𝒐𝒑𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆," 𝒂 𝒎𝒂𝒏'𝒔 𝒗𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒂𝒓, 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒉𝒐𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝑭𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒂 𝒔𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓.

I love a good revenge story, and when I saw all of the collaborators on this, I knew I had to have it. Be forewarned, however, that this is splatterpunk in its rawest, nastiest form.

Enzo Stone appears untouchable. He's got money, a beautiful family, and the power that comes with his name. But when a light bondage session with his wife goes terribly, horribly, wrong, it's clear that someone--or something--has more power than he does.

Absolutely not for the faint of heart, but fans of the genre will eat up this savage revenge story that's taken up a notch with its supernatural elements. Unapologetic, brutal, and visceral, Enzo's story will have you thinking just a little bit harder about how you treat other people. This book is available now!

This is the filthiest revenge story EVER! It reads like the splatterporn version of Succession, with a strong dose of the supernatural for good measure. 'Your Loved Ones Will Die First' contains an overaching story by Jonathan Butcher, with three utterly depraved chapters by Megan Stockton, Stuart Bray, and Ryan Harding, in that order. I was highly excited to read this the moment I learned of its existence, and I confess it went far beyond my expectations: structured like a detective story around the successive and vile murders of a rich family, the elder son trying to stop it in time and find the killer, it develops into a supernatural thriller, finishing with a very reasonable twist (in hindsight). Unlikeable characters to boot, killings as if drawn from the devil's shopping list, the writing impeccable, 'Your Loved Ones Will Die First' is a celebration of decadence and noxious immorality by some of the best splatterpunk authors out there!

This author reached out to me and asked if I would like an ARC copy of this. First of all I wana thank the author for thinking of me to do so!

This book was bloody disgusting and VILE!!!! It was a spooky nasty and and full of surprises. We follow Enzo and the stone family, an ex girlfriend turned druggy her ex boyfriend and his witchy mom through a trope of screwed up bloody scenarios! I don’t want to say too much as I believe the book is not released yet but you’re going to have a good time with this one!

Holy shit.

I was so stoked to see an email from Jonathan Butcher with an ARC offer for this one! Decided just to start it today and see what I thought… absolutely could not put this one down.

It’s INTENSE, these incredibly talented authors have developed a horrific splatterpunk read that had me cringing so bad I had to remind myself it’s not real…

There were a few points in this book where I just had to set it down and come back to reality. If you can think of something horrendous that would be in a splatter novel, you will find it here. I’m a big fan of the gore in this one, expertly executed and provided intense high stakes vibes for this one. I also feel it had the perfect ending, just makes me so satisfied.

If you are a fan of splatterpunk this is a must read. Absolutely vile and horrid, disgusting and relentless. 5⭐️ for sure, would not want to be caught in the break room reading this one…

Thank you so much Jonathan for the ARC copy!! Huge kudos to Megan Stockton, Stewart Bray and Ryan Harding as well, you all are a fantastic team 🤘🏻

A brutal and uncompromising revenge story that doesn't pull its punches.

I'm always a fan of a good revenge story and seeing the bad guy get his just desserts but this one takes it to another level and adds a smattering of gore and depravity.

The story follows a guy who grows up in a troubled but successful family and is now an adult. Things escalate quickly to say the least, to say anymore would spoil the story and what a story it is.

You could never tell this story is written by four authors, the writing flows extremely well and is consistent. This story contains more trigger warnings then I can list so if you have any its best to stay away.

What a rollercoaster ride of gruesome, horrific and vomit inducing story. One of the best revenge story I’ve read. Let’s face it this author sure knows how to evoke strong emotions. I went into this story blind and was not disappointed. I won’t be sharing more that this because I believe you need to read this without any information.

If you’re a splatterpunk fan and you don’t have any triggers, well this one should be your next read!

Ooh it’s going to be hard to top this one as my favorite splatterpunk read of the year! With characters you love to hate and an awesome supernatural twist, Your Loved Ones Will Die First is a brutal ride alongside the Stone family as their past catches up with them. As always check your triggers. But fans of the genre will not want to miss this one!

Well we always expect a wild opening but it was not what I expected. I cannot remember the last time I sat in shock, open mouthed wondering what the hell just happened but that was my reaction to most of this story.
There were so many inventive ways of harming a human body, each one more outlandish than the last. The plot whilst a simple idea was extremely well executed and I read the entire thing without feeling like I took a breath.
Everybody’s writing style flowed perfectly and if I didn’t know it was written by three different people I never would have guessed.
It’s a cliche but this was a rip roaring rollercoaster ride of revenge!

Your loved ones will die first is a race against time, supernatural revenge story, sure to get you repenting your sins.. because you never know who'll have to pay for them.

This book was fucking WILD 😍

I loved the story, very different and the deaths were ruthless. Incredibly vivid, I felt like I was standing in the room watching them.

I really enjoyed different authors writing each character death, such a cool concept!

This shit was insane. Some parts made me physically squirm. The MC being a terrible human caused me to relish in him getting his just desserts. It kinda feels like a reverse of how most revenge stories go, and I really liked that. It kept me guessing up until the end, which rarely happens and is much appreciated. Read it! Read it now!

Imagine Jonathan Butcher, the 2024 gross out competition winner, dialing up a dream team of splatterpunk titans: Megan Stockton, Stuart Bray , and Ryan Harding . Picture him casually asking,

“Hey, I’m cooking up something truly grotesque. Wanna help me off an entire family?”

And then, in a world blessed by chaos and carnage, these literary mad scientists agree.
The result? An unholy alliance of wordsmiths conjuring a tapestry of spice, gore, violence, and depravity so extreme, so vile, it would make a chainsaw blush. A book so utterly unhinged, it would leave even the most hardened reader clutching their pearls. Doesn’t that sound fun?

What if I told you that book exists and it does not disappoint?
My dear splatterpunk readers, behold, a true masterpiece, I present to you:

“Your Loved Ones Will Die First”

This isn’t merely an everyday revenge story; it’s a savage assault on the senses. Butcher, Stockton, Bray, and Harding have conjured a demonic pact that will keep your heart racing, mind guessing and your fingers turning the pages until you find out who…or what is ending the Stone family!

I have no notes, this novella is a masterpiece painted in the blood of the Stone family. The pacing is perfect. The twist are indeed twisting and the gore and violence just keeps coming till the very end.

“Your Loved Ones Will Die First” will be best little story of revenge you have read in a while, So go ahead and throw this one on top of your TBR before the withered thing gets ya!

Yeah this one wasn’t for me….. I guess I should have paid more attention to the trigger warnings.
I don’t usually acknowledge trigger warnings because most things don’t bother me. I don’t like animals getting hurt and stuff, but it doesn’t make me too upset to carry on with a story or anything. If it’s part and parcel of the story then sometimes it’s simply just required.
I don’t have any issues with blood and gore and all that stuff. I’ve written my own share of messed up things.
The thing that got me here though is an 11 year old having sex with his father….. I just can’t continue reading after I’m sewing something like that.
Props to the authors. They want some visceral reactions with this book, as always with extreme horror, but I’m going to have to bow out.
Man down.

One night, Enzo’s life ends up in shambles when everyone he loves begins to mutilate themselves and end their own lives, one by one, right in front of his very eyes.

This book is a race against time in which Enzo needs to find out who is causing this supernatural occurrence and why before everyone he loves is gone forever.

Just so you know, there is CONSTANT violence in this book.

If you’re looking for something really fast-paced, gory, with a mystery element to it, this is just the book for you.

"Your Loved Ones Will Die First" starts of strong but in the later half it kind of lost me. Too bad, because I was invested from the beginning by the way scenes were described and the characters that were introduced. I could feel the different authors while reading, which - for me - makes it sometimes hard to get back into a certain part written completely different than the part before.
The back and forth in time was at times confusing, the italic harder to read.

The end was predictable ever since a certain moment and felt rushed in the end.
