Rose Chase, a dedicated nurse and loving mother to two boys, discovered her passion for storytelling in middle school on online forums and Wattpad. Through her skillful storytelling, Rose navigates the intricate dance between love, desire, and the shadows of human nature. When not saving lives or caring for her family, she immerses herself in the world of fiction, inviting readers to explore the depths of love and passion while confronting the complexities of the human heart.
Make sure u read TWs before u read this book. This is a Dark age-gap Romance with BDSM
Juliet's parents got in a big debt they couldn't pay, so they sold their 17 year old daughter off to pay the dept for them. The night she got sold to the brothel, she escaped and got hit by Luciano's car. She landed in the arms of the Syndicate Devil. Luciano is gonna be her night in shining armor, the Mafia boss. Juliet is very traumatized by her bad experience she had to go throu. Not only is Luciano The Devil, but he is also into BDSM. Juliet can push his buttons lots, and he lets her. This is a slow burn, but in a good way. This is a good book, and I can't wait to read book 2.
Honestly this book just didn’t click with me. It took me twice as long to read as I normally would and I think the writing style is why. I got a little more into the book at 75% of the way through. The conversations can feel overly formal, “do not” instead of “don’t”, sometimes the structure of the sentence feels off and I had to re-read. Transitions from place or position sometimes are rushed. All this to say, I wouldn’t hold that against the author as that’s just personal opinion. This was my first book written by this author so now I know. The idea of the book is great. I have no triggers so wasn’t shocked or anything by any parts of the book. I love the idea of the tragedy she goes through, meeting her dark prince, and coming through it stronger and better, if not a little twisted. They’re definitely made for each other. I don’t mind age gap romances at all, but her bratty sub behaviour can come across a few times as childish, but usually is more humorous/petty. She very quickly flips to this personality, when growing up her whole life she was sheltered and controlled, so I felt that to be a little jarring. The story focuses on her transition from the horrific event, working through her trauma and triggers, to eventually a loving, trusting relationship. I can appreciate how caring he was with her, working through it all. I can appreciate the communication, safety, and concern he has as they figure out her wants and needs, so that was good. Running background to this is the vengeance, cleaning up the dark underbelly of the city that the MMC controls. Those parts are satisfying and I’m glad the FMC gets that closure. The spice scenes, while not too many of them, are done well. Overall, I think this would be en enjoyable book for most. I am grateful I was given the opportunity ARC review this novel.
"The Devil you know is better than the one you don't." The night I escape the hell of the brothel I was sold to, I run straight into the arms of The Devil of The Syndicate and accept his hand.
Rose Chase is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. I love her writing style and the depth she dives into with unique relationships. I was captivated by Juliet's story and her struggles with her trauma, yet watching her blossom as she overcomes obstacles in her life and starts thriving. Luciano is such a caring daddy dominant. Their age gap was written well as he tried to avoid falling for her, but when he did, the process he took was all full of consent and love.
Tropes: - Age Gap - Mafia Romance - Billionaire - D/S Relationship - Who did this to you?
Tropes: - Age Gap - Grumpy / Sunshine - Mafia Romance - Billionaire - D/S Relationship - Who did this to you? - Touch her and you die
This book was absolutely incredible. There are LOTS of trigger warnings so please do mentally prepare yourself, read through all of them. There are lots of discussions between the FMC & MMC about mental health, boundaries, and very dark subjects.
Luciano is such an amazing man for Juliet and he helps her through some of the hardest times of her life. Reading through their romance blooming, watching all of the twists and turns, and Juliet’s inner turmoil. An absolutely a must read.
It was so deliciously good. Spicy, dramatic, full of yummy mafia stuff. I won’t give any spoilers but it’s well worth the read! You won’t be disappointed!!
OMG this was soooo good. I will admit age gap is a hard trope for me. I am very particular about it but know this author and having read her previous books I was confident I would enjoy it. As the author says in her triggers the FMC is 17 in chapter 1 but is 18 in chapter 2 when she meets the MMC technically on her birthday. I know its semantics but for some it matters. I know some people might still have an issue but the way the MMC cares and handles her by making sure she has medical care, mental health care (he gets her a therapist), wants her to finish school and does everything to take care of her without actually expecting anything was just amazing. He didn't set out to do these things because he wanted something from her in fact, he tried to resist her and brought up that her feelings are probably due to him rescuing and taking care of her and that she should talk to her therapist. This is not a man who set out to be with someone young, but they ended up caring for each other and I loved them together.
He was constantly bringing up consent and even to hold her hand he didn't want just to consent her wanted VERBAL consent. He was constantly checking in with her, talking to her about her boundaries and hard and soft limits. This is a man who may be in charge of a syndicate and is a cage fighter but when it came to Juliet, he was so sweet and caring. I love that dichotomy when it comes to MMCs like that.
I loved Juliet who was forged in fire, who went through something unimageable and through hard work and amazing support was able to grow into a strong, resourceful and spunky woman. She was so sassy, and I loved her antics especially when she got pissed at Luciano and would lock him and his men out of the house or cars or all the amazing things she could do with a computer. I just really enjoyed reading her and was always cheering her on.
Loved the side characters and can't wait to read their stories as we caught glimpses in the epilogue. I loved the epilogues as we not only got a peak at the somewhat near future but also further into the future, so we really got to see them settled in life. Made me so happy and choked up to see them happy still.
This book is about Juliet who doesn't aspire for much because she has been conditioned by her family to let them handle everything, her education, her spouse, everything. So, she is shocked when she comes home one night to her bag packed by the door and men waiting there to take her. Turns out her family have sold her to a madame to help pay off their debts. Even though she fights them and the madame with everything she has it doesn't save her from her fate and a night of horror after she is put up for auction. But just as the night of horrors ends for her, she is given one bare moment that she takes to make her escape. She runs into the night only to be hit by a car. Driving the car is none other than The Devil of The Syndicate, Luciano Agosti. With her handlers on her tail, she asks the devil for help which he gives and whisks her away. It is in his embrace that Juliet is able to recover and figure out what to do to those who have harmed her because now she has the Devil at her back to help her get her revenge.
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Cardinal is a dark mafia romance with an intriguing premise that hooked me right away—Juliet escaping the nightmare of a brothel only to fall into the arms of a devilishly dangerous mafia boss, Luciano Agosti. Sounds like a whirlwind, right? And it definitely had its moments, but it left me wanting more.
First off, the plot had potential. I mean, revenge, danger, a twisted love story? I'm in. But I felt like the intrigue fizzled out early on. I really wanted to connect with Juliet, but we jumped into the action so fast that I barely got to know her before she was thrust into mafia drama. Her backstory—especially her hacking skills—just kind of showed up with no real build-up, which made things feel a bit off. And the dialogue? Let’s just say, an 18-year-old who’s been through trauma probably wouldn’t sound so polished. It often felt like she was saying what she should say instead of what she would say.
One of my main gripes was that I didn’t feel Juliet’s trauma as deeply as I should have. There was so much potential for that emotional punch, but it didn’t quite hit home for me. Her character arc? Honestly, it gave me a little whiplash—it seemed like she went through too many changes too quickly for it to feel natural. But hey, I loved the camaraderie and banter between the syndicate bosses. That was a bright spot.
I will say, the book offered some interesting insights into BDSM and consent. I’m not in the lifestyle, so I can’t vouch for the accuracy, but I appreciated how thorough it seemed. Juliet’s safety and well-being were top priorities in those scenes, which I liked.
One thing I noticed was the lack of character descriptions. I had a hard time picturing the characters in my mind. That being said, there was plenty of focus on Juliet’s body, especially her struggles with gaining weight and becoming curvy. I get it—she’s young, and body image issues are real—but it did feel repetitive after a while.
Heads up—this book has a long list of trigger warnings, so definitely take that seriously if you’re sensitive to certain themes. All in all, it wasn’t a bad read, but it didn’t quite live up to its potential for me.

Cardinal is book 1 in the East Coast Syndicate series. This book does have some heavy triggers, so please check your trigger warnings before reading. Let me start by saying, BUY THIS BOOK!!!!! This is the first book I've ever read by Rose Chase. And I am absolutely hooked!!! Juliet is 17 when her parents sold her into a brothel to work off their debt. She experiences a night of hell, but manages to escape. Yet, through her escape, she's hit by a vehicle containing Luciano Agosti, the Devil of the Syndicate himself. He decides to help her and this is where they begin to fall for each other. This part of the book, the healing of the trauma... I felt like it healed a part of me. She's seen by a doctor, who is also a member of the syndicate. But Juliet is treated with the utmost respect. He gets her a therapist to help her work through everything she went through. When Luciano becomes her safe space during panic attacks, he always asked for consent to touch her before handling her to make sure he didn't trigger something. When they became involved... before they did anything together, he always asked her to repeat her safe word and gesture to ensure that she knew she was in control the entire time! Luciano is quite literally the perfect man!!! I am proud to say he's my new book boyfriend. I also really admired the way Juliet found a family within him and his friends and the bodyguards. Like, when they all attended her graduation, I know this wasn't meant to be an emotional scene, but it brought tears to my eyes to hear how they were cheering her on to the point of near embarrassment because of how genuinely proud of her they were. However, one of the issues was that in order for Luciano to keep her safe, he told a little white lie about how Juliet was promised to him by her family and that they were to wed. And Juliet eventually finds out. Once Juliet is healed from her trauma, she quite literally becomes a bad ass and is not one to be messed with. Even Luciano fears her wrath at times. Eventually, together, her and Luciano go after everyone that did her wrong, including her parents. Juliet starts a business to try and help take down traffickers. This book was just everything right. It's people doing bad things, but for the right reasons and it made my heart happy. I don't really throw 5 stars out there often, but this book was just... chef's kiss.
I couldn't get those haunting eyes out of my mind when I tried. I knew if I left her, I'd regret it for the rest of my life.

Cardinal will touch upon some dark topics and situations, but it's not an overly dark book. Check your triggers though. It also has the main couple in a significant age gap relationship, around 17 years, with Juliet being 18. This book won't be for everyone.
What if the man people called the Devil, ended up becoming your savior?
Juliet was just a normal teenager until her parents sold her to a brothel. She went through hell, her lucky escape landing her in the arms of the Syndicate's Devil, Luciano.
What Juliet went through was horrible, I felt so bad for her. It was lovely to read about her healing journey and see her evolve into her new self. Rose Chase put a lot of thought into the mental health aspects of the book. I personally liked witnessing Juliet become more unhinged. Luciano was a ruthless mafia boss would could be quite unhinged at times. Yet he was also a man who could love, support and protect his little love.
I was a bit uncertain with the age gap, but it was done in a way that worked for me. Luciano gave Juliet space to deal with her new reality while offering her protection and support when she needed. It was nice seeing their relationship evolve throughout the book as they worked through their issues. The relationship of Luciano and Juliet was one where there was patience, consent, communication and honesty. I loved how things ended. It was nice seeing their future beyond the typical HEA.
This was an ARC read. I'm grateful to the author for the opportunity I had to read this book.
I’m no stranger to parental trauma *side eye*, but folks, yikes. Are there awards for worst parents? ‘Cause I have some nominees. On the flip side, I have a nominee for best book boyfriend. Because know what I love? Explicit consent.
L: “What did I tell you about consent?” J: “It can be taken back no matter when or what. It doesn’t matter if I agreed to something beforehand. If I change my mind, then I can take it back.” L: “And that applies where and to who?” J: “Everywhere and everyone, and if they don’t respect it, then I can stab them.”
Hell yeah. Luciano may be a crime boss, but he’s going to take care of his Juliet. Did I forget to mention that? Oh yeah, so Juliet is taken in by The Devil of the Syndicate…who’s quite the softy for her. It’s really sweet, especially since Juliet has been kept so purposefully naive by her parents. Plus, you know, all the stuff that she just went through. She’s sold to a brothel, y’all. She escapes (after some other really messed up stuff…), and that’s when she meets Luciano. He tends her physical and mental wounds and helps her become stronger than her enemies. Damsel in distress? We don’t know her.
Ooh, and there’s angst! And he gives her one of my favorite nicknames! And some variation of “fuck” is used 390 times (I counted)!
This book is great. It examines trauma, grief, healing, exploring relationships (sexual and not) after trauma, mental health, comfort, learning about yourself after trauma…and good sexy stuff! Like consent! And a safe dom/sub relationship! And being a brat!
We have some excellent side characters too, who have really helped my Kindle annotations become unhinged.

Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Where to begin with this book. This is my first book with Rose Chase and I am in love… The emotional portrayal & side comments really make you connect with the characters (and hate others)
~ First things first, this is not for the light hearted or easily triggered reader. This book is heavy… So please please read the TW’s before continuing. Keep yourself safe 🙂
~ Now, these two: Luciano & Juliet… The way these two meet is horrendous and very unusual. Not exactly love at first sight but a more “who did this to you” and “touch her and d**” kind of way.
~ Juliet gets thrown into the polar opposite of what she knew life to be. From prim and proper wealthy to questionable business establishment and the mafia.
~ One event changes her outcome and ends up blossoming into something sacred.
~ Luciano, whispers around town as The Devil, one of the leaders of the Mafia, crashes into little Juliet and cannot understand his primal need to protect her.
~ This book is for the brats that understand no matter how much they push their doms, they will never be shut out or abandoned. For those who understand subs have the power in their dynamics
IF I haven’t convinced you yet.. This book is for those who understand that healing isn’t linear… But no matter the setbacks, someone is rooting for you. Let Luciano hold you and Juliet remind you that you aren’t damaged goods.
I wasn't sure I was going to like this book and after the first couple of heartbreaking chapters I thought "how an I going to survive this entire book" but I'm SOOO glad I kept reading because this turned out to be one of my fav reads so far this year...
I would definitely advise everyone to "READ THE TW's" if you are easily triggered its maybe not the book for you but if your able to give it a chance its sooo much more than just a Dark mafia romance.
It is Dark and Taboo but also Tender and heartbreaking. The plot is well written and full of suspense, twists and turns that I didn't see coming and that kept me turning page and page.
The relationship between the two MCs Juliet and Luciano is beautiful but somewhat unorthodox.
I loved watching Juliet grow and discover the many sides to her personality, she is one hell of a strong kick ass FMC with one hell of a dark side and a temper to rival any mafia boss. I adored how bratty she was and her incessant need to push Lucianos buttons. On the flip side of that I loved how patient Luciano was with Juliet and how no matter how much she tested him his devotion to her never faultered...
The dual POV really helped me get a feel for both characters, their feelings towards each other and helped me understand the depth of their relationship especially with the age gap. I think reading both their feelings made the age gap feel less of an issue.
Check your tw before reading this book, please your mental health matters! I was almost raped at 17yrs old... I was able to fight him off because my dad was an officer.. why I bring this up is because it did bring up old memories for me. Thankful for me, it was not in a bad way. It made me wish this book was around when I was 17-18. Maybe I would have seen the manipulation... anyways enough about me. Let's get to the review....
I can't with Juliette's parents.. I don't care what type of situation you are in. What they did is completely unforgivable... Luciano comes in and saves the day. He treats her like a queen. He is a true man. He let's her call all of the shots at the beginning. He goes at her pace, and if she asks him to stop, he stops. She gives off scared vibes he stops. Mind you, he is a Dom... we all know how men can be, but he is nothing like them! He is a devil on the streets, but when it comes to Juliette, he is a cuddly teddy bear.
I don't want to give anything away because I feel it will ruin the book and its message that Luciano gives Juliette throughout the book. So this is as spoiler I'm going to get in this review. This is my favorite book so far from Rose Chase.. I have yet to cry in any book, and she got me crying with how sensitive Luciano is to Juliette, and the messages he tells during the story got me crying my eyes out. I'm sure part of it is because of my history. I grew up thinking if I didn't put out that, my husband would cheat on me and eventually leave me. I didn't have anyone in my life tell me that was toxic. Now, there is an age gap. So please beware of that before you read. I normally have a problem with this type of age gap. I took a leap because I have loved all of Chase's books so far, so I took a chance. I'm so glad I did. I have so many emotions. I also feel like I have closure for once... there are things you need to know before you start reading this book. Juliette is 17 in the 1st chapter. In chapter 2, she is 18. Luciano tries to keep his distance he doesn't want to be involved with her originally. He just wants to keep her safe. He wants what is best for her. They begin to start feeling things for each other later on in the book. By the time I got to that part, Luciano won me over. Chase did a good job at making him a likable character before bringing feelings into th mix. I can't wait for book 2 in the series.
****PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS! THIS IS A DARK ROMANCE*****
"Mobster, not monster; a very fine distinction" - Luciano Agosti
"Cardinal" by Rose Chase is a delicious age-gap mafia romance that hits all the right notes. The story beautifully blends intense emotion with light-hearted moments that made it the perfect read for me.
Luciano, the MMC, had a wonderful sense of consent and respect for the FMC. You could even call this an age-gap, "caretaker" to lovers romance. (Is that even a thing?) LMAO His patience and the care he shows as she heals (and grows up) were so sweet and definitely added an extra layer of depth to their relationship. The way he supported her through her healing made my heart melt.
The banter was PERFECT, especially during her bratty moments. Their interactions are genuinely funny, bringing a much-needed balance to the more serious undertones of the story. The revenge subplot is particularly satisfying, especially since Luciano allows her to take the reins, and let her deliver justice on her terms.
The epilogue was the perfect glimpse into their future that left me CACKLING. Rose Chase handles difficult scenarios with grace, offering a story of healing and love that culminates in a well-earned happily ever after.
I'm so excited for the next book in the East Coast Syndicate series. If you're a fan of romance with a mix of humor, healing, and a dash of mafia, "Cardinal" is is it for you!
I got to read an ARC of “Cardinal” this weekend, I think i could have finished it in a day but I had to keep pausing reading it to process some of the spicy scenes because this book gets ghost pepper level spicy! The MMC Luciano is a mafia boss who is morally grey but is sweet for our FMC Juliet, a just turned 18 year old girl who finds herself “running away from hell, but straight into the Devil’s arms.” Through this book you witness Juliet grow from being an innocent, scared and mentally scarred girl, into a morally grey women who gets her revenge on everyone who took her innocence from her. I really enjoyed getting to see the dark side of our MMC as well as his warm gooey side and see him grow into a better man for our FMC. I also enjoyed seeing him help her work through her trauma and give her all the patience she needs. This book does have an age gap trope as the MMC is about 20 years older than the FMC. There is also a lot of graphic violent scenes as well as explicit spicy scenes, definitely check your triggers with this book! All together I did give this book a 5/5 stars because I loved it so much! This book comes out August 30th and i definitely this it’s work check out
I was selected as an ARC Reader and I'm so glad I was!
This story was well written, had the right amount of spice, and had me hooked. I love how feisty Juliet is and how Luciano handled her. Age gap is a trope I'm not 100% sold to, however, they worked so well with one another I often forgot about their age. Mafia? Mafia is one of my favorites which was a main selling point for wanting to read this.
The first few chapters nearly broke my heart and I didn't know if I would make it though. I'm glad I continued because the story really picked up and I'm glad I didn't miss the chemistry of the main characters. Seeing the growth and how well the story went on made this an enjoyable read.
MIND YOUR TRIGGERS!! There are several things in this book (such as r**e) that is done. Please be mindful of your mental health.
I don't want to give any kind of spoilers but I will say I feel like a lot of people I know will love this book. If you want a Mafia king who would burn the world to protect what is his-this book is for you. You will feel so many emotions and, hopefully, fall in love with these characters. This is more than your typical dark mafia romance. I will be buying a hard copy for my shelf once I'm able. @Rose Chase did a great job with this one.
Cardinal is part of the East coast syndicate series a dark age-gap mafia romance, being a dark romance don’t forget to check the TW/CW before diving in as some scenes and/or topics may be not suitable to some.
Cardinal follows the story of Juliet, being sold to a brothel to pay off her parent’s debt, one night she escapes and runs straight into the arms of the Devil of the syndicate and accepts his hand. “The devil you know is better than the one you don’t”
Wow, this story was addictive! The first few chapters played with my emotions and the rest had me glued to the pages. What a fantastic start to this new series. I love a good age-gap romance and I loved Juliet and Luciano’s story, it wasn’t love at first sight Luciano had more of a sudden desire to instinctively protect Juliet and I was living for it. I love a good “who did this to you” and “touch her and perish” read and Cardinal was definitely that. Not to mention the spice was top notch with BDSM tones. Overall a fantastic read that will have you gripping the seat for several reasons IYKYK.
Definitely recommend to all those dark mafia romance lovers out there who love a good age-gap.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/2.5🌶🌶 -Mafia -Age Gap (FMC turns 18 in chapter 2) -BDSM toned -Touch her & ☠️ -Who did this to you vibes
*All the MF TWs* Seriously, check your triggers. -Rape (not the book for you if this is your TW!) -HEAVY CNC -Dub con -Gun play -Knife play -Suicidal ideation -Torture -Death (some more graphic than others)
Honestly, I don't know what to say. This book was dark, depraved, felt taboo AF, and even had me saying WTF out loud at the end of chapter 37.
Luciano was known as The Devil and yet sickly sweet in some scenes. Juliet was a child, a victim, a brat, a menace, and overall needed more therapy. They were both very self-aware, though.
Told in dual POVs with a few time jumps throughout to give you a better sense of character growth. It was a full standalone with epilogues that time jumped twice to give a shockingly (fairly) wholesome conclusion.
Also, shoutout to the Italian translations at the back 👌
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Juliet is living a strict, sheltered life. She comes home one day from school and his handed off for a payment for a debt and her parents owe. When she arrives at the lounge she is auctioned off to the highest bitters once they are satisfied with their purchase Juliet is able to escape the lounge and run into the mafia leader group and the goons chased her. He takes her home so he is able to do it the lounge owner with a slip of the tongue, he says there to be wet within the year. Once Juliet is recovering from the traumatic event, she’s decided she wants revenge. Juliet has became a strong, bratty young woman. She’s really blossomed . The rest of the mafia has decided to clean up the old mafia group,. Juliet and Luciano, both feelings for each other and decide to act on those feelings, they have up and down over the course of the next five years they have dealt with the club owner, Juliet’s parents and the rest of the scum in five years after running into his vehicle their child 18 years later, they are still together and thriving.
Luca & Juilet were the perfect balance of sass and grump.
Juilet going through what she did and having Luca literally be the perfect definition of what should be a healthy and comfortable relationship was amazing. The respect and patience of that man was just ✨️chef's kiss.✨️
I'm not into the main characters being underage, but I pushed past it because she became of age so quickly. She really did grow into her character. Having to navigate life after experiencing such betrayal and horrifying things, she became such a 'don't mess with me' tech baddie.
This book will keep you hooked and wanting more. Not only were Luca & Juilet a blast to read about, but the side characters were phenomenal! Every member of The Syndicate was so well written and intriguing.
The start of the book was really heavy (check your triggers) when Juliet, a (barely) 18 year old girl, is sold to pay off her parents’ debts. Although, her start is anything but easy life takes an unexpected turn when she runs right into the ruthless crime lord, Luciano, known as The Devil.
Despite his track record of being ruthless and blood thirsty, The Devil has a soft spot, Juliet. The story follows Juliet’s recovery after her terrifying 18th birthday and how she unexpectedly falls for a mafia boss twice her age.
I really enjoyed the first about 70% of the book, but the last 30% really dragged for me and was a lot more difficult to read. Overall, the characters were really interesting and dynamic. I also took a liking to several of the side characters and can’t wait to see what is in store for those characters in future books.
If you love morally black, mafia boss MMCs and bratty FMCs who find the strength to recover, then you’ll love Cardinal!
What an amazing read this book was! I was honored to be an arc reader and it did not disappoint!
Juliet was found one night by her savior after a horrif ordeal that noone should have had to endure! But her savior was not only a hero but the devil of the mafia!
Luciano, the biggest, meanest, and cruelest to those who betray him stumbles upon a hurt girl and takes her under his wing to help her heal....only he finds himself more and more obsessed with her.
This book is electric. It is violent. Beautifully detailed and extremely emotional. The spice level is next level and it introduces a lot of terms I had never heard of. Anyone who loves a brutal mafia man who would burn the world to protect his girl. Who would make everyone bow down to her, including himself. This is the book for you!
Thanks for starting the book off right away leaving me to get into it immediately. I really liked the characters in this book as always Rose chase really does a good job with making me like the main characters. Luciano Hot Hot Hot. He takes so care of Juliet knowing she can be a complete brat sometimes. Juliet is strong and she got through her trauma with the help of Luciano. I am a dark romance girly so I do wish that there was more obstacles in the book, I mean there were good parts but I was just hoping for more problems, what can I say I’m toxic. The gun scene I have to say I REALLY ENJOYED it I know I shouldn’t but there have been many books where gun play is involved but I feel rose chase made it different and more exciting than other books. All in all it was a great read and I plan to keep on reading the series when they come out. Also I don’t know why but I hate epilogues lol
Wow! This is one of my first reads by Rose and I am hooked! I was immediately drawn in and couldn’t put the book down!
The first 2 chapters are INTENSE (always read trigger warnings before starting any book). They are intense but very much needed to get what Juliet had to undergo. To watch Juliet go from who she was in the beginning to who she ends up being, is empowering. I am a huge fan of her bratty behavior because girl, SAMEEEE. I also loved watching big bad mafia boss Luciano absolutely melt with Juliet. Every chapter had something happen that kept you hooked and I could never find a good spot to pause because I could never get myself to want to stop reading. I liked everything about this book and can’t wait to read the new one on Leah and her love interest along with the rest of the series.
Definitely going to check out and read all of her other books right now!

‼️Highly recommend reading the TWs before reading‼️ First book I’ve read by Rose Chase I loved the world building and the characters. Mmc Luciano is a sweet, protective, possessive mafia boss that has the patience of a saint for dealing with Juliet he has a soft spot for Juliet but he needed to put his foot down. Fmc Juliet damn the trauma she went through omg I felt so bad for her. But when she runs into Luciano (literally runs into his car) he saves her and protects her. She’s a smart, crazy good at technology and is a bad ass and strong for overcoming such a trauma she went through, but omg is she bratty and sometimes so ungrateful. It was a good book I recommend if you love bratty fmcs.
🖤 Age Gap 🖤 Mafia Based 🖤 Touch Her & 💀 🖤 Bratty Sub 🖤 Knife Play 🖤 Breath Play
This book is heavy… So please please read the TW’s before continuing. Keep your mental health healthy 🖤
I absolutely love a good dark mafia romance and throw in a nice juicy age gap and I Will devour it.
I loved this book once it got going but I do wish the book was a bit faster paced. It took me a lot longer to finish on that alone it just wasn’t holding my attention for the first 65% of the book BUTTTT In the end I’m glad I pushed through because that last stretch was what got me!
When Luciano runs into Juliet ( quite literally ) it’s in the most beautiful and horrible way but Juliet feels safe with this dark and handsome stranger.
For all those brats who love to push their Doms buttons and still know that you are still safe and loved, you may are perfect.
“Juliet had a fcking chokehold on me. And I didn’t want to escape “
👏👏👏👏5 ⭐️ 4🌶️ I highly recommend reading the trigger warning review diving in.
This book had me hooked from chapter 1 when 17 year old Juliet was sold to a brothel by her parents to pay off a large debt. Once at the brothel men bid on her virginity, after they were don’t with her she was about to escape and that is how she met Luciano “the Devil of the Syndicate.”
Luciano has a reputation for being a bad guy, but he has a soft spot for Juliet, something about her makes him want to protect her, but he also struggles knowing she shouldn’t be involved in the mafia lifestyle.
This book was spicy, but had a great plot a HEA, it’s age-gap romance, who did this to you, touch her and d**.
Luciano would literally burn down the world for her if it meant keeping her safe.
Rose Chase is simply becoming one of my favorite authors!!!
Juliet's character development throughout this book was well written, and Luciano's devotion, care, and respect were just beautiful.
To anyone new and curious about the BDSM lifestyle, more specifically the Dom/sub dynamic, I think this book gives a beautiful glimpse of what it should be like, as it portrays the true power a sub holds over her Dom.
The level of control Luciano portrays throughout the book was just something else. His determination to help heal Juliet emotionally warms your heart.
Juliet, she is bratty (she pouts a lot), but it's expected of her young age and lack of life experiences. I must say the "new" Juliet is such a fresh breath and a symbol of strength and growth.

👏 OH 👏 MY👏 GAWDDDDD!!! 👏
This was an amazingly wrote Mafia romance!! It has such a good story line! I have only read the shadow Daddy books from Rose and now I'm so disappointed in myself for not seeing how good her Mafia works is sooner!! Everything was so in depth, no plot holes, great characters; (Luciano in particular 🙀); the spice was spicing especially when the C-N-C scene, but don't even get me started on that tho..cause y'all!! I loved the ended, their happily ever after and the mini me of Luciano! The Epilogue had me rolling! Such an amazing work of art!!
I love how the story sucks you in right off the bat. The entire story had a good pace to it and didn't have any part where it slipped my interest. The writing of this book was well written, and the plot was concise.
I loved to see the devil Luciano fall for Juliet and help her through her trauma. Not to mention help get revenge. When I read what Juliet asked Luciano for to help overcome her trauma, I thought "well this took a turn" but the way they worked through it and seeing Juliet become more confident was one of my favorite parts. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series!
This is a dark romance and has some triggering content, so be sure to double-check the TW's before diving into this delicious read.
