After reading the first book in B.J. Daniels’s Silver Stars of Montana series, I was eager for the next, Missing: Baby Doe. This installment follows Acting Sheriff Cat Jameson, who, while pregnant and expecting a quiet tenure, is thrust into a high-stakes case when a pregnant woman is murdered and her newborn abducted. The main suspect, Dylan Walker, is linked to the victim for some reason, even though he doesn’t know her personally and is haunted by his own recent loss. Cat races to solve the case, questioning Dylan’s involvement and working to rescue the missing baby as she uncovers that there may be more at play.

I enjoyed this installment and these characters. Cat’s determination to solve the case and find the missing baby resonated, especially since she’s pregnant too. I liked Dylan as well. He seemed grumpy at first when Cat confronted him, understandably so after losing his wife to a bombing and being harassed by her friend, who just won’t leave him alone. He just wanted solitude until the Acting Sheriff disrupted his world. Despite initial tensions, he bonds with Cat and becomes protective of her, even though she can handle herself. Their shared grief over loved ones lost connects them, and I loved how the investigation brought them together.

The book is full of suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat moments and unexpected twists. Some twists I saw coming, others surprised me. Cat and Dylan uncover a conspiracy connected to Dylan’s wife, his brother, and the murdered pregnant woman, and I was there along the ride, figuring it out with them.

Overall, this was another emotionally gripping installment, and I give it four stars. I’m so glad I picked up the first book in the series. Being introduced to B.J. Daniels has left me eager and excited to devour more of her heartfelt, suspenseful stories.

POV: Third Person (Dual POV)

Standalone/Part of Series: It’s part of the Silver Stars of Montana series. Each book features new characters and a new storyline, so they can be read as standalones.

First of all, I love this cover! The first time I saw it, I knew I had to read it! Secondly, anything by this author, I have to read! I read it in one day because I got so caught up in the story. It had so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming! What a unique storyline! I won't be sharing anything to give away any spoilers, but I didn't see any of these twists coming!
Both main characters were fascinating! I wouldn't have put them together at first, but they were great the more the story unfolded. Cat Jameson was way over her head has an acting sheriff since it was her first time being a law enforcement officer! She was just supposed to be stuck out in the middle of nowhere for a few weeks while the "real sheriff" was on his honeymoon! Who would have thought that there'd be a sudden "crime spree" and things would get so complicated! She's also seven months pregnant and thought things would be easy! At first, she thinks Dylan Walker was a suspect but quickly realizes he isn't. They team up to try to figure out what the heck is going on and why is Dylan involved! The story was gripping and as the dead bodies pile up, Cat is determined to solve this case!

The mystery was ok albeit more like a story you would read 20 years ago - I kept wondering if it was republished or an old manuscript made to fit within the series. I was very confused when I started about how she could be acting sheriff since book 1 was the sheriff’s story. Then I couldn’t figure out why she got the job straight out of the academy when there was a perfectly good deputy, Jared, who could step in while the real sheriff was on his honeymoon. Except not once in the book was Jared mentioned. Near the end of the book Cat is suddenly friends with Ash, who we met in book 1. We never got any real explanation of Dylan’s background which I thought was strange. And finally the book switches from Russia to using the term, the Soviet Union, which has been gone for decades. While I normally like this author, I wouldn’t recommend if you have other books on your TBR list. But I do plan to heck out book 3 as it appears that Jared has reappeared.

This book was one of those books that once you pick it up, it will be hard to put it back down. At least, I thought so.

Cat was on her first law enforcement assignment in a small town where nothing ever happens. The Sheriff was on his honeymoon and she was the acting sheriff while he was away. She was bored so she wished for something to happen. Well you know the old saying be careful what you wish for.

Oh I forgot to mention that Cat was pregnant. She was in the office when a lady also pregnant came in and announced that her and her baby were being threatened. And then she turned up murdered.

Check out this book you won't want to miss it

Another in the Silver Stars of Montana series, in which acting sheriff Cat Jameson finds herself in a mess of trouble, even though she's 6 months pregnant, when she meets Dylan Walker and suspects him of fathering the baby of a frightened woman who begs for her help.

That woman soon is found dead, but the baby is gone. Now Cat needs to find the baby and with Dylan's help, they soon find themselves in the midst of a series of events that result in several murders and dangers for both of them.

But will they make it out alive, find the missing child and then see that she successfully births her baby? Talk about complications!

Missing : Baby Doe
B. J Daniels

Acting Sheriff Catherine Jameson

Dylan Walker - ranch owner

Acting Sheriff Cat had her hands full.
There where murders one after another . She went to talk to Dylan and he knew nothing about what was going on. Baby Doe came up missing and hard to find. But she kept going at seven months pregnant.
This will keep you intrigued and wonder what , why , who did what.
B. J this was another one of your books that was fabulous. Characters were matched great with eachother.
Can't wait for the next book.

MISSING: BABY DOE by BJ Daniels, book 2 of Silver Stars of Montana

Woo! What a story! Unlike BJ Daniels’ previous books, MISSING: BABY DOE packs a punch! There’s murder, espionage, a sleeper cell, a missing baby, betrayal, treason, phony agents, spies, you name it. It has everything. Acting-Sheriff Cat Jameson has her work cut out in a sleepy town, and together with Dylan Walker, they face danger like you wouldn’t believe. I love the story’s conclusion. I received this copy from the author, and this is my honest review.

Another great story by B. J. Daniels. Another hard one to put down.

Cat is acting Sheriff while Brandt is on hos honeymoon.

She is pregnant and doesn't feel like she is fitting in.

Than a murder happens that keeps things hopping! It seems to have to do with things surrounding Dylan.

What a wild twisted road that follows! I couldn't put it down today til I found out what was going on and what was going to happen.

I used to love these intrigue books??? I normally love harlequin romance??? But this one was not for me! It was just a lot of telling like this woman showed up etc. also at the 50% the dude was to the fmc I’ve never wanted anyone so much??? And there was no chemistry to me??? I was like oh ok. Then there was like a sleeper cell network and i am like ???? Idk. This just was not my thing which was sad bc j was so excited. I would try this author again since i have seen she js very popular.

DNF. Nothing wrong with the book, what I read was fine, it's just I'm not into a mystery right now, and not a mystery romance. Worth a second look another time when I'm more in the mood. When I have more patience. Right now I have a stack of books to read so... if one doesn't click I don't give it much chance to interest me before I move on to another book.

Intriguing mystery. Pregnant widow has a gig as Active Sheriff in a small town, and gets a visit from an abuse victim. Tries to pin it on an alleged perpetrator .. who just happens to be a widower with an attractive body. So it's not hard to figure how it will end.

What is hard to figure is what the alleged perpetrator actually does for a job. So it's all a bit convoluted ..

Not a bad book, but not a particularly exciting one. The writing was good but the story itself felt very generic. Not really what I was expecting.

Who would have thought that a quiet little town in Montana would have so much action.
Births, murders, spies, where were they coming from?

For me it’s a B.J. Daniel’s book so of course I’m gonna read it! She is one of the authors that I automatically read her books. This one is part of the Silver Stars of Montana series. But they are all standalone’s.

Acting sheriff Cat Jameson is given her first assignment. The town sheriff is off on his honeymoon. So they put Cat in to do his job. This is her first assignment , and she’s 7 months pregnant. They figured it would be fine because she’s in a quiet town that has no crime. So they thought!
However, she has to try to solve a murder of a pregnant woman found on the side of the road and her baby is missing!
WOW So much for a quiet town.
The prime suspect is Dylan Walker. Because he was thought to be the babies daddy. But he says in no uncertain terms, I am not the father of that baby.
This is one of those books that you will not be able to put down because you have to find out just what is going on.

In my opinion, it’s a must read !
