Although this was published in 1992, it's timeless for those of us who love Victoria magazine's style of living. I've read this numerous times and never tire of it. It's almost frightening how influenced I've been by Victoria books/magazines and the out-of-circulation Romantic Homes magazine: crystal, antiques, quilts, roses, doilies, lace, beautiful linens, white wicker, turn-of-century christening gowns, toile, tapestries, teacups/pots, beautiful books, gardens, and quotations that speak to me. As a young bride almost 50 years ago, I followed trends for several years. I'm sooooo glad I got over that and found the decorating/living style that nourishes my soul.
My Thoughts: I personally love a hardcover book - the added enjoyment of a photo book for this one is appreciated. Artistic photos capture settings whilst commentary inspires creativity in establishing the intimacy of a warm, hospitable home . Well enjoyed! Imagining possibilities of incorporating many of the ideas that caught my fancy. Noticed a LOT of teacups used in the settings... could be part of why I loved the book :)
Original title, Victoria: Intimate Home, as is mine, covers letter 'V' for me in Lori's Alphabet Soup 2014 A-Z Reading Challenge. I'm working on knocking out the harder title letters first.
