I have been a nude model for art classes for over 33 years, so I am drawn to books centered around that profession. Most of them are written by authors of erotica and include events that are so far-fetched as to be unbelievable, however fun they may be to read. I was pleasantly surprised when I started reading this book that the art sessions seemed plausible in the real world. So many of my experiences over 30 plus years mirrored those experienced by Sophie, the central character and model in this book. Sophie was working as a librarian before she turned to art modeling. I have a Masters degree in library science and have worked as a librarian before (although my art modeling started my first semester as an undergraduate).

As a novel, this one started to lose a little steam toward the end. To maintain the reader's interest, each modeling session in this story had to be different than the one before, and I know from experience that not much changes from session to session in most drawing classes or groups. Still, it never got to that over-the-top sexualized event that I kept expecting from an erotica author, and that just lent an air of believability to the whole thing.
