Mr Bean's Definitive and Extremely Marvellous Guide to France

Rate this book
Dear Lord Bloomsbury, I hope you are well and that the cold isn't getting into your silly old bones. I shall be holidaying in France shortly and plan to write a book about it. You see, it struck me (in the bath) that people love travelling and reading books. So why not have a book about travelling? I think your Lordship (silly man) has been missing a hole in the market. So come on old boy. Let's clean up! Yours Sincerely, Mr. Bean. (Travel Writer. A.A. R.A.C. T.S.B.) Though he says so himself, Mr. Bean's done a jolly good job of making this book, stuffed as it is with sellotaped, gummed and bluetacked photos, magazine clippings, sketches and travel memorabilia collected whilst on holiday in France. Not only has he constructed this visual feast all by himself, he's gone to extraordinary lengths to include invaluable advice and guidance to would-be visitors to that land. The language, for example, is a doddle, he tells us; the only French words you need to get by with are 'oui', 'non' and 'gracias'. Mr. Bean knows. He's been.

This book is supposed to be a diary wrote by Mister Bean during the filming of Mr Bean's holiday in France.
I expected a book making fun of the (bad) habits of my fellow countrymen ; sadly most of the jokes fell flat. They are neither criticising or poking fun at the French way of life, they are simply based on Mister Bean awkwardness or dumbness.
Save your time, even if the book is short, and re-watch a Mr Bean's episode if you want silly and funny jokes.

An engrossing look into the mind and world of an iconic character and substantially more entertaining than the film upon which it is based.

A little cheesy, but what else is Mr. Bean? I bought it as a gift for someone (a Bean loving French Speaking friend of mine) and read it during a long car ride. Though the book is very short and mostly pictures, I still found it very entertaining. I simply wish there was more Teddy! And when will Mr. Bean be going to Germany I wonder?

My sister brought this back from Germany from me, which means it's in German, so I don't completely understand every single word of it. Nonetheless, it was quite an entertaining book and I loved reading, or trying to read it!

I read this before the Mr. Bean vacation movie came out so I was really surprised to see characters from the book in the movie.

I got this book as a birthday present from my cousin.
Thanks Tita ! Muach !

This book is hilarious. Full with superfluous tips from how to entertain yourself while traveling to how to make a french cheese.
