Well that was... strange.

First a guy tells her that they will be married in less than a year than a girl tries to be apart of a witch cult by stealing male condoms. Needless to say, I did not like this one.

I thought it would be interestin even though it technically isn't fantasy (despite the fortune telling) but in the end it was just about a girl moving in with a guy, moving out, then getting married and moving to a different country. Woah!

The author probably wanted me to applaud the craziness but this book just wasn't made for me.

I have read this book before but I decided to give it a re-read as I couldn't remember the plot.

Story rambles on and seems to take a long time to reach a conclusion. Feels like a short story that has been padded out.

An ok read but not a book to keep, this will be going to a charity shop.

The Summer Psychic is quite the read if you believe in Paranormal activities and it also has a touch of romance as well( you know I'm a sucker for those🥺)

It was a really good story and it was just a light, amusing read, great for that lazy summer afternoon. Although I do feel like it took some time to finish🤔, had to go through many pages before understanding where the book was headed.

The story is about Katie, a journalist for a newspaper in Brighton who was given an assignment to interview a psychic called Jim Gabriel. Jim had made predictions for the year and one of the predictions was shocking because he prophecied that him and Katie will marry. Now this is the tricky part, Katie is in love with somebody else and even still grieves a fiance who passed away but some of Jim's predictions actually start happening so Katie is scared.

You need to see how this plays out if you are into suspensed drama, here's your read!😄

Are there two versions of this book? My protagonist was named Jo and the story was set in Coffs Harbour NSW. A review I just read mentions Brighton as the setting...

Anyway, regardless of whether or not there are two versions, I really enjoyed this easy to read tale of Jo the journalist and her adventures. The people in Jo's life are interesting characters and the story was kept light hearted even though there was serious or sad issues involved.

A nice quirky story which kept me amused. 4 stars.

The story takes up more pages than it needs to, could have done with more editing to cut out the unnecessary parts. There were no shockers or page turning moments for me and i felt the ending could have been rounded off better than it was. Not a book that needs much concentration, a light hearted easy fluffy read.

It is a romance book but I think we can consider it as a young adult book too. Anyone that likes romance books or young adult books would like this book. It is about psychic visions, predictions, love and drama. I loved the character Jim because he is very sincere and he didn’t give up on Katie no matter what and I think he is a very loyal friend. It is about a psychic living in England and there is a woman called Katie and one day Katie goes to this psychic, Jim to do an interview. She asks him to make predictions about world and he makes couple of predictions then he suddenly says, “We are going to marry by the end of the summer.” Katie doesn’t believe in these things at all and after couple of weeks his predictions starts to happen. The rest of the book is about these predictions and other supernatural things going on. My favorite quotes are “ We are going to marry by the end of the summer” because it was a really shocking part and I wasn’t expecting it, after this quote suddenly book became a mystery to be read and you start to think if this is going to happen or not, and the other quote is “You are in love with Pete Oram.” After this quote you realize that Jim actually cares about Katie and you know that a love story is coming soon. Sometimes, when Katie is too emotional it was hard to follow it because there was so many emotions going on and writer just wrote Katie’s emotions and it was challenging. This book reminded me of “The Mentalist” because in both book and TV series the main character is psychic and very lovable. The main character is Australian and fits perfectly into Patrick Jane’s (main character in The Mentalist) physical appearance that’s why I assume that this character in TV series influenced the writer. The ending could have been better. She let the readers create the ending which is an open ending but she could have wrote an real ending because we expected a lot of things to happen in this book and when it suddenly ended I was a bit disappointed.

A fairly standard chick lit story, with the only remarkable thing being about it that it features a psychic and a storyline surrounding that which was kind of fun. Nothing extraordinary about this book and probably more worthy of 2.5 stars, but I've rounded it up as I think the author captured the Australian coastal town feeling quite well.

I’m a fan of Jessica Adams from way back. Like Isla Evans, I feel that she is a great Australian chick lit author who flys way under the radar. Her books are well written, have a good amount of funny, sad and hopeful moments and love always prevails in the end.

Sometimes you just need an easy read, where you’ve picked the ending before you’ve finished the blurb and for that, The Summer Psychic is perfect. The characters are likeable, the plot good, there’s no unnecessary fluff dragging the length of the book out and you can smash it out in a day or easily pick it up and put it down several times without having to re-read a page or two to remember what happened. Whilst this book won’t blow your mind, it also won’t be the worst book you ever pick up. If you like chick lit, then The Summer Psychic is for you.
