I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved how the author used imagery to make it feel as if we were actually there. By Chrystal Sharp
Review by Kevin Guo

After reading this book with a lit circle, my opinion on the book remains the same as it was when I finished the first chapter; the book is ok. If the Cat Fits… Stories of a Vet’s wife is a collection of Chrystal Sharps stories from veterinary fiascos to personal heartbreaks. You meet not only Chrystal and Dave, her husband, but their plethora of animals. Whippy, Philby, Carrots, Splittie, and others are an important cast of characters that are with Chrystal throughout her story.

If the Cat Fits… Stories of a Vet’s Wife paved a pathway into the chaotic life of the author, Chrystal Sharp, by telling short stories about her life with her husband, Dave, who is a vet. They experience many new animals which test their morals and sometimes their safety. Along with that, as they travel to varies places around South Africa, they get to connect with animals that become part of their family.

Chrystal’s ethos, or ethics, is challenged throughout the book. Many of these challenges a

A light and enjoyable read. And to my surprise, written by a local author and set (mostly) in South Africa.
