From the very first line, we know that we are in science fiction territory with this book (if the title was not clue enough), and that this is a story that will find some humor for us to enjoy, as well. There is also more than an element of romance to entertain readers.

I myself enjoy science fiction in all its veins, and with all that it can offer, from Douglas Adams’s tongue-in-cheek wit to Robert Heinlein’s heavier universes. This book falls more in line with the first of these authors, and I

A farcical space opera, A Far Out Galaxy plays with the popular notion that humankind was seeded on Earth by another race from another world. Let me put it this way: I could not put this book down without feeling ...more

The aliens are not so much different from ourselves; however, the technology is both magical and plausible all in the same breath. The author clearly knows her stuff — she’s reported to enjoy reading books about theoretical physics and it shows. She works under the same spirit of sci-fi greats like Philip K. Dick, Asimov, and Heinlein and I really enjoy that.

She also seems to write from a place that I often do in my own work — she writes for her own enjoyment, from the heart, entertains herself

Marjorie makes me smile when I read her stories. Her light-heartedness shines through. I really like that she gets these extraterrestrials down to earth, on her terms, in the desert of the high country.

Marjorie Thelen writes light hearted romantic mysteries and utopian sci fi to entertain herself and hopefully her readers. She is also an environmental activist.
