Quite an important book and a dairy for modern Oman and UAE states and the Oil exploration.

This book covers the Oman trucial cost before establishment, the Buraimi problem, Fahud 1, loyalties in Oman before oil. The writer shy away from the fact that the exploration activities for Fahud 1 mainly caused the “Jabal Akhdar war” and mentions it briefly in the epiolage.

Picked up this book assuming it would delve into my favorite years of the state formation, but was greeted heavily with travel literature instead. There were bits and pieces of the actual interactions with the leaders, but the book mainly revolved around Hendersons travels in the Trucial states (since it is his autobiography).
