I really like this book because I have a fascination with snakes, even though I do not like to get close to them. I LOVE the pictures in this book. They are so real and they have interesting facts going along with each page which is what I liked about this book. This is a non-fiction picture book and every page is different. It goes from big snakes to little snakes, from deadly biters to non-deadly biters.

I would use this book in my classroom for students who again have a fascination with snakes. I could also make a project out of this by giving my students a different type of snake. If possible I could bring in a snake handler to come show the class the different types of snakes; not the venomous ones of course.

Snakes: Internet Linked ~ Usborne Discovery is an excellent classroom resource for the upper grades of elementary school age children. It is a book that I kept in our science reference book center.

It has accurate a wide variety of snakes that are found througout this world with short discriptions of size, coloration, and habitate. It has a glossary int he back of the book for reference (this is helpful in teaching how to teach the use of a glossary). It also has an index of snakes by name for further reference. Ir alos has a page for acknowledgements from experts in the field that contributed to the text or pictures that illustrate the different snakes. The book is also organized by types of snakes in an orderly fashing making it an excellent reference book and teaching tool. The pictures and illustrations are beautiful, attractive and accurate.

This is a wonderful science book. The pictures look so real. If you like snakes you will love this book or if you hate snakes you won't want to open it. This is a good informational book if you had to do a project on snakes, it also has links that you can go to the internet to do additional research. Kids think this book is so neat.
