The indispensible companion to Hix's Dressing Right, Looking Good tackles the male body with relish, offering guidance on how to perfect it's every nook and cranny for maximum attractiveness. Again, the photography is the biggest draw, although in this book it's a bit more vulgar--lots of showering scenes, getting dressed tableaux, and even some mud-bath nudity. The literature is hot stuff as well, with tips on how to relax after working out ("Some massage parlors actually perform massage."), how to control odor "down there", and how to wax away unwanted hair. Baldies will appreciate the extensive coverage of tasteful styling solutions for a receding hairline, in addition to an entire chapter devoted to hair replacement strategies. This volume has earned a permanent place of honor on my coffee table.

As a young man learning how to prepare myself for adulthood, this book had practical and sound advice for all forms of grooming. Everything from washing, grooming, shaving, giving oneself a home manicure and pedicure (yes, guys, you can and should do this), etc. I'm sure many of the illustrations will seem dated, but the fundamentals are sound.

This book reportedly inspired the aesthetic of "Top Gun." Yeah, I can definitely see it. Wow. That explains a lot (especially the volleyball scene). Don't think I read a single word.
