Cora Belov has lived her life by her Mafia father’s iron fist, so the first chance she had to escape him, she took it. She fled from New York to Seattle to attend college, hoping that some distance from her obligations would give her a chance to experience the freedom other young adults get—like friends, parties, and boys.
But Cora didn’t anticipate that Andrei Savin, the future leader of the Bratva and her promised future husband, would follow her to Seattle. What starts out as an annoyance quickly becomes a blossoming romance between Cora and Andrei.
What they don’t realize is that their promise of marriage threatens the livelihood of others. They’ll have to trust each other and their love for one another if they want to survive.
Promised to Me is a dark college mafia romance full of violence, lust, and heartbreak, and what makes up the ties that bind a family together.
Shana Collins is an author of sinfully dangerous romances. She enjoys crafting and reading captivating stories about strong women who embrace the beauty of moral complexity. Each of her books is filled with unexpected twists that will leave readers eager for more.
She is an Army veteran from Hawaii and now calls the Pacific Northwest her home. Her two daughters are her best friends, and you can often find them at a local Starbucks, sipping vanilla lattes and working on their laptops.
“Promised to Me” is a stellar dark college/Mafia romance. The main characters-Cora and Andrei, are the perfect college romance duo. Being in a world shaped by old money, Mafia mentality and traditions, they are destined to be together. Unfortunately for Cora, she doesn’t know that quite yet.
Cora is an endearing FMC. Her nativity is her blessing and her undoing. In trying to run away from the life of The Coalition, she attends college on the other side of the country. Unfortunately, that was not ever possible for her. Having her twin brother as the best friend and second of the upcoming Brigadier, Andrei… she is more tied than she ever thought.
Andrei is the model son for his father. Being the oldest, he is next in line to take over for his father as the head of the Savin syndicate. This complicates his life in more than one way. Knowing the truth, he goes after Cora. Unfortunately, their lives is torn to shreds at the hands of a man who was supposed to be loyal.
This book was such a great read. I was able to read it in one day. The plot was very well executed and kept me coming back to the book. Awesome work.

I really enjoyed reading this mafia romance. I liked that it had a solid plot and made sense. I have read quite a few different mafia romance books and they are not for the faint of heart. The mafia world is dark and full of bloodshed so not everyone can tolerate reading that. This book did have triggers and some parts were hard to read.
I liked Cora and Andrei’s relationship throughout the book. It showed them evolving as a couple and finding out some deep secrets that destined to tear them apart. Cora had to make a lot of hard choices to become the woman she did and it showed how it wasn’t easy for her. I really liked the relationship that she had with Andrei’s parents and how they supported her. Even though they had an arranged marriage I liked that they did have a real relationship despite that.
Andrei was ruthless but he grew up with that lifestyle, yet he tried to be a better person or as good as he could be for Cora. He tried to be there for her even when he couldn’t which I appreciated. His love for her was real.
The plot twists that this book had completely shocked me and I was not expecting for the book to take that turn but I am glad it did. This book also had its fair share of spicy scenes. The book didn’t feel too rushed and the plot was solid.
I haven’t read any of Shana Collin’s previous books but I definitely will now, this book was wonderful and I enjoyed it so much!
Thank you for allowing me to read your book as an ARC.
Tropes —Mafia —Arranged marriage —Friends to lovers —Brother's bestfriend
Cora Belov is a mafia princess. She moved to Seattle from NYC to escape her abusive father and the Mafia world
Andrei Savin is the future Brigadier of The Bratva in NYC. But he moved across the city to Seattle to be with her.
They were friends since 5 and in love with each other but never confessed. Though his father promised her as a payment of a deal with Andrei's Father but she never knew it.
Andrei is the sweetest mafia ❤️.I love their chemistry, the way they love each other , though Andrei knew she was promised to him he never tried to own her, instead he tried to get her love . I enjoyed their love, connection, and intimacy throughout the book .
The plot twists that made the story page turning.I really loved this book [ actually I love Andrei]."Highly recommended"
I have never read @author.shanacollins books before but from now on I'm gonna read all of your books 😁
I was selected as an ARC reader for this book. This is my first book by this author.
I have to say I was exhausted for most of the book. I struggled to finish it but I wanted to finish so I could give an honest and full review but I would have DNF'd if I wasn't an ARC reader.
The whole first 50% of the book crams in every trope and storyline possible it's all so jagged and sudden. A good twist has to make sense with the evidence that is presented and if there's no time to develop the plot with these clues and hints then it's a shock when the twist/surprise comes to pass...and not in a good way. The second half is just as haphazard and, since all the tropes are used up in the beginning, boring and conflict is created just to make anything even moderately interesting. But any conflict presented is immediately pushed to the side as if it never happened as there's also no resolution to much of the conflict; They all simply move on and have no conversation or interaction about any of it.
The timing is too fast and there isn't enough time for character and relationship growth so they jump from point to point so quickly it was very jarring. I only know about Cora's feelings about certain events is because I was TOLD that's how she felt never shown and then she's magically over it a chapter or so later. There's not enough time for me to form an attachment to any of the characters or care about them at all as it's jumping from plot point to plot point and s*x scene to s*x scene. (Not that I'm opposed to spice in the least).
So much of this book is incongruous with the rest of it as though it was written all in one go with no reflection on the front end of the book. For example, at the beginning of the book, Andrei and co. don't like Seattle because they're New Yorkers to the bone. Then at ~76% Andrei and his family have been coming to Seattle since he was a kid and he's very familiar with it and has fond memories of the area?? Since when??
Cora on a character level, ignoring the fact that she's Russian without a Russian name (and in fact has a Greek name which Russians would never allow in this mafia world context), is unlikeable, flakey, and forgettable, unfortunately.
I also cannot abide authors who cannot use simple phrases like "I COULDN'T care less" and instead say "I could care less." There's content editing that needs to be done ("undesirably beautiful" when you mean "undeniably beautiful").
All and all I would give this author the advice that Cora received on her book.
Growing up in the Russian Mafia isn’t easy. What is expected of you is not what others would consider normal, and old money & traditions shape who you will become.
Cora & Andrei have grown up together, and have watched their fathers rule with iron fists. While Cora may have had her eye on Andrei since they were younger, there is much more to their “friendship” than she may know. Cora has been raised to be the future wife of a Brigadier, & her marriage to Andrei has been arranged since they were children.
All Cora wishes for her future is to lead a “normal” life away from the violence & rules. This dream leads her away from New York City to Seattle, but she can never leave her past behind.
An enjoyable mafia college romance prequel, that can be read as a stand-alone. The story was interesting and kept me coming back for more. There is major potential for this story to grow into a series, as we watch Cora & Andrei’s future unfold.
While enjoyable, there were times when I struggled with Cora wanting to leave Andrei & the mafia life behind, only to be madly in love with him & never leave his side the next second. These scenes seemed to be a constant throughout the book and made the story confusing & inconsistent.
This book was so deliciously good. Dark, spicy, mafia, broody handsome men, bratty MFC. It was everything a dark mafia romance is supposed to be. I was hesitant at first because of the age of the MCs. I didn't know if I would like characters just getting out of high school, being in college, but also being in the mafia, or being the leaders of the mafia. The way Collins outlined and executed this story was beautiful and throughout it, I kept thinking, this is better than I imagined. Collins ends the book leaving us with so much that could happen in other books if she so desires. The idea of more books along this line with the same characters intrigues and excites me. The characters were likeable and beautifully written even if young. They aren't so out of the realm of possibility like I was thinking they would be. All the characters fit their role well and grew into them. Overall, this was a beautifully written piece that I hope Collins expands on. Will be recommending!
Cora Belov is a mafia princess, escaping across the country to Seattle leaving her abusive father and her ties to one of the most notorious crime families back in NYC.
Andrei Savin is mafia royalty, nephew to the head of the Bratva in New York City, the eldest of the testosterone fueled Savin brood, and future Brigadier.
They've been friends since 5,
Promised to each other since before 13,
How much blood will be shed in order for them to get there happily ever after?
A solid prequel to Deadly Decisions (Dmitri's story), I took a star off for the slightly repetitive nature of explaining the intricacies of the crime syndicate, who played what roles, and the expected futures of our FMC and MMC. While it may help certain readers, I didn't feel as though the constant rehashing was particularly necessary.
Thank you for gifting me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was really good. Like fantastic. The chapters are short and sweet with lots of spice. It’s so easy to keep up with it. There was some jumping around but it made sense. As soon as I finished Dmitris story I was so excited for Cora and Andrei’s and it didn’t disappoint. I knew I needed their back story and I’m not content with what happened. There are some dark themes so I recommend reading the TW’s first.
ARC Review ✨️ ☆The best dark mafia romance♡ This story was excellent! Our main characters, Cora and Andrei, were amazing😍 They've been friends since childhood and are stuck in the mafia world. To be honest, Andrei is the nicest mafia man ever to exist. He really was so kind to Cora considering the circumstances. This story was fast-paced and so hard to put down. It's filled with emotions, violence, and heartbreak. Shana is a new author for me, and I'm looking forward to reading more of her writing!!
Dark Mafia Romance! Fast pace, great plot! I love the twists and turns in the story! I was rooting for Cora and Andrei love story from the beginning. The side characters are great in this story as well! I will definitely be reading more from Dhana Collins!!
i loved going back and reading Andrei and Cora's love story, since I started with book 1. I am addicted to this series. I love how they're very plot-heavy, vs just pure smut. don't get me wrong, there is a lot of spice also, but the plot is just so good. this book was suspenseful, emotional, shocking, and incredibly good. I just about cried my eyes out when Sasha and Mr. Savin were killed 🥲 I loved Sasha so much, he was such a good brother and protector to Cora as well as the Savin family. cora was promised to Andrei when she was young as repayment for a debt her father owed to the Savins. but honestly, Cora and Andrei had feelings for each other since they were children, they just couldn't admit it to each other. there were so many things that happened in this book- from all of the people who were killed to protect the Savin family, the whole situation with Josh and Nicole at the party, Cora's dad betraying the Savins and ending up ☠️, to finally the happily ever after for Cora and Andrei, even if it didn't work out exactly the way they wished it could have. the love they have for each other made me swoon. yeah, Andrei could totally have handled some things better, and he said and did some stupid shit, but at the end of the day, it *mostly was all in the name of protecting Cora. now if you'll excuse me, I'll be nose deep in book 2 for the foreseeable future 🫶🤘

This is a dark mafia college romance and I enjoyed some aspects of this book but some were quite confusing. Cora finds out her freshman year of college that her father had arranged her marriage to the future head of the Russian mafia and childhood friend, Andrei. She had a crush on him growing up so she is not fully put off by it but has plans to be more than just a Bratva wife. Most of the book is your typical college dark romance which I loved but the parts that I got lost was Cora would decide she didn’t want this life and was leaving but a few paragraphs later she is having a romantic moment with Andrei and expressing her love for him. This happens multiple times throughout the last half of the book and frankly it doesn’t make sense and makes you feel like you missed a chapter. The other confusing part was the last minute mention of Andrei’s families connection to Seattle in the past and how they spent so much of their childhood there but this was never mentioned prior even though most of book is set in Seattle. I love mafia romance books but if I was giving my honest opinion this one missed out on opportunities to be really good.
My first read by Shana Collins and it was a really good mafia college romance book!
It was a relatively quick read for me and I LOVED it. It was interesting to see the college setting with the mafia troupe done. I really loved the chemistry between Cora and Andrei. Their character growth from beginning to end was really great to see, there were a lot of things that could have torn them apart from each other, but they worked through it. I loved seeing a different side to Andrei that you don't see in mafia romances. The storyline was well written and the book pacing was PERFECT. It was fast-paced and a great book if you're looking for something that has great plots and you can get through within a few hours. I can not wait to read more by Shana soon.
Alright guys, I am going to try and tell y'all about this book without spoiling it! So this is a college romance, and also a mafia romance. This fantastic book combined my two favorite tropes/genres and it was fantastic. I haven't really scene or read a lot of college mafia romances, and I thought this one was so unique and really groundbreaking for that trope combo. This book has got suspense, sexy vibes, and just some great characters. The two main characters ANDREI AND CORA, are fantastic. I loved loved loved Cora, and found myself relating to her.
This was my first book by Shana and I honestly could not put it down. Once you pick this up, you will be obsessed.
Promised To Me is my first read by this author and an absolutely fantastic introduction. Cora Belov is a Mafia Princess who long ago was promised in marriage to Andrei Savin, Russian Mafia Royalty. Their journey is heartbreakingly beautiful and totally consuming. This author has put together a beautiful story with characters that will completely engulf the readers and pulls you in to join the ride. I can't wait for more from this author. This has been a fantastic journey!
Wow, I finishedthis book in a day I literally could not put it down. If you like mafia romance you will love this book, it's dark, has twists, arranged marriage, loss of loved ones and some non loved ones. The characters develop so well as the story continues. I'm still sad over Sasha.. I won't spoil it any further. If you pick up this book you won't be disappointed.
This was a quick read, however, I think it could have been stretched out a bit more to develop the story a bit more. There were some confusing elements but also enjoyable moments. I enjoyed the spicy moments.
I am truly sorry but I had to DNF 25% into the book. It just didn’t entirely capture me the way I wanted to. I had been so excited for it. Reading the reviews I’m happy that a lot of people did enjoy it! 💛
Well written, the characters make you fall in love with them, packed with action that will keep you reading, wondering what is going to happen. Spice scenes are perfect too! They don't hide the interesting storyline. Can't wait to read more from this author.
This overall was a good story from the plot to the character development but the word choices in the spicy scenes were kind of making me want to cringe. I am not sure why they were chosen. I love the love story between the two but it could have definitely been better overall.
Cute story, and an interesting plot line! I really enjoyed this quick mafia read! I loved the childhood friend and past chemistry aspect of this book! I really enjoyed this book for the most part, it just had quite a few cliches I felt and didn't jump out as much as I felt it had the potential to. This being said, I still suggest this book! It was a cute read, with plenty of mafia vibes, and was an interesting story that helped me get out of a reading slump!
Great if you are looking for a quicker mafia book that has the potential to grow into a bigger system!

𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 ↴ Well this book was quite entertaining… Was not a fan of her cheating on her boyfriend with the MMC but I also wasn’t a fan of her boyfriend so I let it go. This is considered a dark romance but like… where’s the dark part? Maybe I’m just way too into really dark romances that this just seems mild to me? It’s a good book and I recommend it to those who love a good college romance. I however got some words for Shana because how dare you do Sasha like that? That poor guy, I cannot wait to read the rest of this series though.
