"A Chinese Folktale. Mei Ming loves to sing of rushing rivers and wondrous waterfalls. But a day comes when the rain no longer falls, and the waters soon cease to flow. Mei Ming must release the waters of her secret lake to save the parched village - but the lake is locked behind huge stone gates. Who will help her charm the fearsome dragon guarding them?"
Mei Ming lives in a small village at the foot of a mountain. Everyday she makes her father breakfast, goes out to cut bamboo every morning then weaves it into brooms for her father to sell in the market every night. Things are the same every day until the rain stops coming. Everything dries up, and the people of the village are starving and thirsty. Mei Ming goes up into the mountain where she discovers a lake and bamboo growing in abundance. She tries unsuccessfully to divert a portion of the lake to her village below until she meets the dragon's daughter who tells her how to get water to her village.
