Powerful even though it is quite dated it still packs a punch. Probably Rollins best spoken word novels and its right up there with Get in the Van. A must for any fan.

Bought this from Henry himself in 1986 I think. Evil evil dark poetry and general ramblings. Back then I thought he would kill a man just to sink his teeth into their neck and taste some salty blood. Now I know better, he's intense but also has a lighter side. You won't find that lighter side in this collection. ...more

...more

I think a lot of this was included in the "Portable Rollins" collection that initially turned me off his writing some years ago. Just too repetitive, especially with the overuse of the words "annihilation" and "incineration." ...more

I've decided to put this one down for awhile. A lot of Rollins' earlier writings are kind of dark and emotional. I'm not in the right frame of mind to read this in its entirety right now. ...more

“Florida Highway, 1986. Lonely slum. I passed through on low wheels. It was hot outside. Shacks, gas stations that didn't work, dead corn in fields, children on the road, retarded and dulled by the heat. Two girls waved as I passed.” 6 likes
