Jim Vaus married a distant cousin of mine, and she wrote her version of this ("They Called My Husband A Gangster" by Alice Vaus). His version is better, and was even filmed ("Wiretapper"). His story of his fall from grace and then being converted by Billy Graham is strong and fascinating.
