This is the 10th volume of my favourite manga. So beautiful and moving, love every single page. Can't wait for the next volume.

Unfortunately, this volume was much slower than the previous volumes. I enjoyed seeing the gang get back together, but I think I wanted a little bit more in terms of plot.

Sometimes you stop reading something because you know it’ll break your heart. Sometimes you keep reading despite that. Sometimes because of it. I love this series despite everything I expect is coming.
Foreshadowing is all over the series and this volume, where Magari gets a photo album from Ganta that’s got space for pictures they take in the future. And later, she visits an auntie who is actually the parent of somebody who was in hospital the same time as her and passed away. There’s an implication that Magari might be the last one left of a lot of sick kids.
What the manga does real well, however, is not make Magari a victim or just a generic sick girl like other stories. She is out there living her life and dating and trying to make the most of an uncertain future. Having an actual illness instead of “ill” at the heart makes it far more engaging too.
I love that neither Ganta nor Magari overshadow one another. They both bring things to the story - Ganta trying hard to be a good boyfriend and learning to open up, Magari trying new things and finding joy in so much. One is physically struggling, the other mentally. They balance and I think it works.
This is a very seasonal volume, but it has a lot of really strong scenes. Ganta’s little trip at Christmas is a real standout, but I generally love the way the two of them both interact and love to interact. It’s so rare to have two leads that work this well together in a story and it deserves praise for that alone.
This manga also has some of the best, most believable cat behaviour I have ever seen depicted and extra points for that.
No, it may not be the most special thing ever if you aren’t already into this, but I have clearly been enamoured with it for ages and this just keeps giving me everything that I want from it and no notes.

Plus les tomes passent, plus je trouve en Insomniaques le summum du tranche de vie romantique ! Pas de drame, pas de tension, juste le plaisir de suivre ce duo d’adolescents passionnés. Je me régale.
C’est un vrai bonheur de retrouver Isaki et Ganta à chaque tome sous le trait toujours poétique et mélancolique de Makoto Ojiro qui sublime l’adolescence, ses amours et ses amitiés, sous son air pourtant terriblement simple. Sans fioriture, il nous va droit au coeur avec ces portrait simple et sans chichi d’adolescents qui aiment passer du temps ensemble, que ce soit entre amoureux ou entre amis. Il se dégage une très belle chaleur humaine dans ce titre.
Pourtant, on ne peut pas dire qu’il se passe grand-chose. Rassuré sur la santé d’Isaki, on a un tome assez tranquille où on la voit retrouver ses marques et retrouver son petit monde : son club, Ganta, l’observation et la photo, qui vient s’y ajouter. Ce sont des petites scènes toutes mignonnes et simples de son quotidien qui viennent pourtant nous charmer par leur émotion juste. Quand une personne a autant craint pour sa vie qu’elle, apprécier les choses simples et ce qu’il y a de plus beau. C’est ce que nous raconte l’auteur avec modestie.
Ainsi, je trouve superbe ces instantanés qu’il parvient à capturer, qui de Ganta à vélo avec son meilleur ami pour capture sur la pellicule le premier lever de soleil de l’année, qui de Meguri qui découvre les joies de prendre des photos qui ont du sens pour elle avec un appareil de qualité. Ça n’a l’air de rien mais c’est tout pour eux et ça le devient pour nous aussi. C’est la force de ce titre. Certains pourront trouver qu’il ne se passe rien, ce rien est exactement ce que j’aime. Il appelle à réfléchir, se poser et apprécier les choses simples, à l’image de cette « tata » à qui Isaki rend visite pour combler la détresse de son âme. C’est ça ce titre, la gentillesse à l’état pur.
Alors que dire de plus si ce n’est que je suis définitivement conquise par la simplicité et l’émotion de cette si jolie histoire de deux adolescents dont les solitudes se sont trouvées et qui ont totalement ouverts leurs horizons au contact l’un de l’autre. J’aime les voir se fondre dans leur passion commune. J’aime les voir grandir et porter un regard simple et pur sur la vie. Ça me touche.

Allora, sono un pochino perplessa. La serie continua ad essere carina e piacevole, ma gli ultimi volumi mi ha lasciato poco. Va bene, seguiamo le vicende di Ganta, Magari, del loro gruppo di amici, del loro club di astronomia: di fatto si tratta di un titolo slice of life, quindi non ci sono colpi di scena o rivelazioni sconvolgenti. Tutto procede in maniera tranquilla, forse un po' troppo tranquilla, visto che ho come l'impressione che non succeda mai niente di particolare. Ma proprio niente di niente. La cosa più "eccitante" qui è stato l'acquisto di una macchina fotografica da parte di Isaki, che ha deciso di usare le mance messe da parte nel corso degli anni. Per il resto c'è poco da commentare. Vorrei tanto sapere se nei quattro volumi rimanenti ci verrà mostrato il passato di Ganta, perché credo proprio che le radici della sua insonnia si nascondano lì.
In conclusione, mi sento di dire che l'entusiasmo dei primi volumi si è un pochino perso. Forse sono io che non sono in grado di apprezzare appieno quest'opera e di coglierne i dettagli più interessanti, però al momento non riesco davvero a farmela piacere più di così. Peccato perché gli spunti di riflessione non mancano mai, ma non vengono sfruttati, tutto mi sembra buttato lì in modo superficiale. Non lo so, vedremo se c'è un miglioramento nel volume 11. Ormai la conclusione si avvicina e mi scoccia mollare a quattro volumi dalla fine.
In conclusione, mi sento di dire che l'entusiasmo dei primi volumi si è un pochino perso. Come i volumi precedenti anche in questo volume seguiamo le vicende di Ganta, Magari, del loro gruppo di amici, del loro club di astronomia e non ci sono colpi di scena o rivelazioni sconvolgenti. Tutto procede in maniera tranquilla, e rilassante. In questo volume si approfondisce il rapporto tra Ganta e Magari e soprattutto vediamo la crescita emotiva di ogni personaggio soprattutto Ganta, che riesce a fare cose che prima non aveva mai fatto (tipo andare al Santuario il primo dell’anno). Le tavole come sempre sono spettacolari e curate nei minimi dettagli… Volume dopo volume, alterno momento in cui penso che le cose stiano prendendo una brutta piega e che il manga finisca male, a momenti in cui dico no dai le cose si stanno riprendendo (come in questo volume)… Spero che questo manga abbia un lieto fine poiché mi sto affezionando troppo ai personaggi e ne uscirei devastata.

This story does such a good job finding wonderfully quiet moments and truly human moments. I have nothing negative to say about this story. The deliberate pace of the storytelling lets you live in each beat, the joy and sadness have a chance to settle. Magari's optimism continues to push them both forward while Ganta's practicality reminds the reader that there are real problems in front of them.
At the end of the day I can honestly say there isn't another ongoing series I look forward to as much as this. Part of that largely stems from how different this is from much of my other reading, but without fail this series provides the heart and carefully crafted visuals that make it perennially great.

Magari va mieux, elle va pouvoir revenir au club d'astronomie. Ganta est allé la voir régulièrement pour lui amener les devoirs.
Le nouvel an arrive et une semaine de vacances est prévue pour les lycéens. Ganta a réalisé un album photo pour elle. Magari et Ganta fêtent le nouvel an avec leurs amis. Avec ses étrennes, Magari achète un appareil photo flambant neuf.
Avec Ganta, elle va rendre visite à sa "tata", la mère d'un enfant hospitalisé en même temps qu'elle, malheureusement décédé depuis. Ils prennent des photos du ciel ensemble.
Ils vont faire en sorte de pérenniser le club d'astronomie pour les nouveaux élèves qui ne vont pas tarder à faire leur rentrée.

Il nuovo anno è alle porte e finalmente Magari inizia a migliorare e a stare bene. Il giorno di capodanno si ritrovano tutti assieme per giocare a palle di neve ma anche andare al tempio e pregare per il futuro che prospetta a ciascuno di loro. In questo volume si notano la maturazione di ogni personaggio.

this manga is very cute and I really love the art style!! I felt so close with the protagonists because I also have insomnia and the way they yawn every five seconds is so real… i’m also tempted to bring out my old camera and start using it again but i dont think i could commit to it.

The drawings are spectacular. They are all photographs with minute details. Isaki is beautiful and inspires endless tenderness. But certain phrases and expressions seem to indicate that something painful is about to happen.
