A good little book for young girls just learning about the Bible and how to treat others. Because it is written in a simple style, some of the actions and attitudes encouraged come off as callous (being frustrated that your mother won't convert when she is grieving, for instance). I would hope that girls reading the stories would think about the ideas behind the lessons and not take the stories at face value. However, the Secret Birthday game, extras in the back, and Bible verses to memorize are fun additions. Overall, not at all a bad introduction to Christian values.

Are you forever looking for a rip-snortin’ good read for the girls on your gift lists? Kids know a snoozer when they see one, usually within the first paragraph of a book. Bonnie Compton Hanson captivates her readers within her first sentences. Judging a book by its cover, no problem ~~ it’s not just the lure of the free scruncy attached to the book that draws your attention. It’s the thrill of realizing there is a whole Series of PT’s lined up on the bookshelves and every single one of these books are, well, rip-snortin’ good reads! (less)
