The long awaited sequel is finally here! Wyatt and Michelle's continued journey into a D/s relationship with Michelle as the Domme starts to unravel. Michelle's one of those people who believe in mind over matter. While she recognizes PTSD symptoms in Wyatt, she refuses to acknowledge the same in herself. This is a problem as her past is revealed to the reader and Wyatt. It's not pretty. It is sad to say that she is perfectionist by training perhaps not nurture.

5 out of 5 Licks-I’d give it 10 if I could!

Oh goodness! This book!! LAWD!! Notice I’m having issues making full sentences without tons of extra punctuation. Oh yeah it is just that good. I absolutely loved and adored part one of this love story. The book Still has had a special place in my heart since I read the first page. The trip from that page to the end of Penance is not a pretty flowery kind of story. When I tell both of these character

I was given an ARC for an honest review: Here it is 5 Star All The Way and if I could give more I would:

This is book number 2 in the Long Slow Tease Series, so in order to follow the story I would suggest (actually insist) you read the 1st book, Still. Penance is the continuing story of Wyatt and Michelle's journey. I have to say Still is one of my most favourite books ever and I was eagerly anticipating the release of Penance. I was not disappointed. I absolutely loved this book and Penance has

Sometimes you read a book and it resonates with you and changes your views and for me that book was Still by Ann Mayburn. I loved seeing a big, bad alpha male who chose to submit to a woman because he wanted to please her, watching him realize that his submission wasn’t about being weak but about meeting her needs, discovering that while she might be in control he truly holds the power. Satisfactory Ending

Nice tying up of hanging plot lines. The story was somewhat compromised by unlikely behavior from a main character. The author didn't sell me on the illogical hysterics of a main character that precipitated most of the conflict and angst and to my way of thinking derailed the credibility of the story. Regardless, it was nice to revisit Wyatt and Michelle and see their HEA.

I highly recommend the two books in this duology - I am electing to post this under the second book but my review is for both.

Still & Penance are excellent examples of how you can write a good erotic romance that also hits all the marks for good contemporary fiction. The author creates characters you genuinely care about, with enough depth to make them interesting outside of the bedroom (or dungeon). The plot, as many plots do in contemporary romance, centers around the 'will they or won't t

I really wanted to like this book as much as the first, but it did not live up to my expectations. While I gave it a four star rating, it is more of a 3.5 star. Since Goodreads does not allow half stars, I gave it the benefit of the doubt based on the fact that I see it more than a sequel but as an extension to the first book, which I loved. I feel it should have been one book, but I can understand why it was split up the way it was. After completing the book I am rating it higher than I first t ...more

Ann Mayburn writes a gripping story of love and forgiveness in Penance, the second book in the Long Slow Tease series.

Picking up where the first book left off, Michelle Sapphire and her submissive, Wyatt Callahan, are traveling to Chicago for a wedding and collaring ceremony. Throughout their relationship, Michelle takes care of Wyatt helping him cope with his PTSD. While dealing with his own problems, Wyatt fails to see that Michelle is on the verge of falling apart under the weight of her own

Fantastic! This is part 2 of Michelle and Wyatt's story and I am now a loyal Ann Mayburn fan. Still dealt with Wyatt's demons and now we get Michelle's with Penance. Like Still, Penance is a gripping emotional roller coaster ride that had me mesmerized and kept me from putting this book down until I had read the last sentence.

Ann Mayburn is an exceptional storyteller that has the amazing ability to create characters that resonate with her readers on an emotional level. I went through a myriad o

I have been anxiously waiting for this book ever since I finished Still about a year ago. Then when I finally got a copy I was so backed up on my reviews that I didn’t get to read it for what seams like forever. Now I’m wishing that I would have knocked all those other books to the side and jumped right on this one. I have always loved Ann Mayburn’s books and that holds true with this one.

In the first book Michelle and Wyatt use her domination over him to help him cope with his PTSD. In this boo

Such a beautiful love story full of flawed but genuinely real characters. I discovered Ms. Mayburn's writing when I read Still (book 1 in the Long Slow Tease series). Although fem-dom is a departure from what I usually read, I was captivated by the strength of the characters. I didn't think it was possible but Ms. Mayburn has out done herself with Penance! What a wonderful story! I found myself experiencing a wide range of emotions along with the characters. I look forward to reading more of Ann ...more

Very seldom do you read a sequel that you love as much, if not more than the first! Ann Mayburn has definitely delivered with this one. Still is one of my favorite books, But Penance is amazing! You do need to read Still first to understand Penance, not a stand alone book!

I love Michelle and Wyatt. The characters are believable. Their story is hard, their lives and baggage that are brought into it are not easy. Perfection, imperfections.... They are flawed, but perfect for each other. They just

I was expecting lots of hot sex, after all it is an Ann Mayburn novel, I was blown away by the emotional rollercoaster that took me for a ride throughout this book. Penance is such a just title for this book. A story where inner loathing and suicidal thoughts meets understanding, unconditional love and finally, forgiveness and acceptance of self.

This book is not for the faint of heart. Michelle and Wyatt deal with serious issues of PSTD and mental illness. Mayburn takes great care to position th

"Penance" is the second book in Ann Mayburn's "Long Slow Tease" series (the first being "Still"). I did not enjoy this novel, and wish I had not picked up the series.

Semi-spoilers: "Penance" is purportedly a continuation of the femdom of the first book, however, this would be true only if you read starting at about 72% of the book to the end. Without giving away any real spoilers, I will say I was incredibly disappointed in this book, and that this was the continuation of "Still" - which had suc

Perfect end to their story

Perfect end to their story

I thought this was a perfect ending for Michelle and Wyatt.
Both characters going through self discovery to help each other with their needs.
I liked the male bonding between Wyatt and James. They had a unique friendship and formed brotherhood.

I liked all the plots and subplots of the book. They really helped the reader get into their mindset.

I'm sorry to this this series come to an end. Maybe they will be found again if Yuki and James get th

Wow. What an amazing and powerful conclusion to Michelle and Wyatt's tale. Ann Mayburn does it again, but pack's a powerful and emotional punch in this raw tale of love and growth even in the most painful way possible. Michelle has some demons to exorcise and Wyatt must let her do it, but he will have to force her to face everything if he wants them to have any chance at a life together. Both must grow and serve, painfully, and it's a terrible and beautiful journey to their redemption. Nicely do ...more

I thought book 1 was impressive. I was wrong. This is where you really fall in love with Watts and want to take him home with you. And although I wanted to beat Michelle on occasion, I understand why Ms Mayburn didn't rush her healing. Everything else in this book is so realistic than to suddenly have Michelle all honky dory would be implausible. I especially love that the author didn't try to stretch this out to 3 books just for the hell of it. Perfect!

What an amazing book! Ms. Mayburn took me on an emotional journey that I will not soon forget. I laughed, I cried, I felt so much with these bent but not broken characters. I can not recommend this book highly enough. Even if you think you don't like FemDom, you will like this book. It will make you look at FemDom in a whole new light. Ms. Mayburn is an absolute genius!

Wow

when I read the blurb I was not so sure I would like this story. I love bdsm storylines but I like the men to be Dominant not the women.
however, reading this story has opened my eyes.
beautifully written. fantastic characters. and a wonderful storyline. the characters were complex yet simple and easy to love.
thoroughly enjoyed this book as the sequel to the first

OMG!!!!

OMG!!!!

Ann Mayburn has done it again! I loved Wyatt & Michelle in Still and was so glad to see them get their HEA in Penance. This book had it all sometimes gut wrenching, tear jerking but always loving. It's no wonder Ann is an auto buy for me. My only complaint is there will be no more Wyatt & Michelle.

Well what can I say, I loved Wyatt right from the being of Still to the end of Penance. I can't say the same for Michelle, she was a spoilt, self-centred, selfish woman. She sure didn't deserve a man like Wyatt. I had a few moments where I was on the fence but, other than that, I just felt like kicking her in the ass & smacking her.

This book was certainly a roller coaster of emotions, it was dark and angsty and I felt it really captured the essence of the struggle with mental illnesses and it was dealt with in a believable fashion, Wyatt and Michelle would have to be one of my favourite couples

An emotionally raw conclusion to Michelle & Wyatt's story. Mayburn understands the BDSM dominant/submissive dynamic and communicates it beautifully through her work.
