Writing Good Plain English

This book seems to be for novice or aspiring writers/authors. So far what I am reading is the basics on writing for magazines, manuscripts, etc. These are things I already do or know.
The historical background was quite boring for me to skim through. But after this chapter, had some information I have tried to tell my novice clients when it comes to writing. I hope they have taken the advice; I learned hands on and reading/researching a lot. "...best ways of developing your writing is by READING as much as you can. The more you read, the more you will begin to understand...what makes the best writing. Try to develop 2 main reading habits: read critically (which you also have to do when preparing and studying for the Law School Admissions Exam-LSAT) to understand why it works and doesn't work. Reading expands your vocabulary (more readily at your disposal, increases easily-recalled vocab)." He suggests to read anything and everything; which I have done since I first could read.
My favorite chapter was 4, and the chapter thereafter on "most confused used words" that I usually have to proofread. It also allowed me to refresh on some definitions.
