Not as good as the first volume, as the second half of this story sees the emergence of the power behind The Omen, drawing not only Danvers, but new ally cat burglar Yuna Yang and some of the Marvels! It's Yuna Yang's energy that makes this a better Cap Marvel read alongside the solid art from Jan Bazaldua. A Three Star 6 out of 12 read, I keep saying that I will stop with Cap, but I keep coming back!

A modest improvement on the previous volume if only because there's less shenanigans and more widescreen cosmic battling. The Undone has arrived and she's pretty spooky, all eyes and purple giantness. Contained within her are previous worlds she's conquered, including a chunk of the Negative Zone where forgettable-teen-sidekicks are trapped.

Captain Marvel and her hundreds of friends battle the Undone in several different ways until (hooray!) the monster is defeated. It's all fairly predictable, but well-paced and good-looking. Not the worst Captain Marvel, though that's not saying much since Captain Marvel series have kinda been stinkers for quite some time.

This run was a lot of fun, I grew to really like Yuna and the ways that her and Carol interacted. I liked that we got to see Yuna in another series briefly as well for a mission that involved Carol. The villain of this arc looks really cool but the final fight is just alright. I like seeing the connections that Carol makes and the ways her little community is always expanding. Excited to see what her next solo series will be.

Summary:

The Undone are on the hunt - and they want Captain Marvel. But how, and more importantly - why? Unfortunately, they’re not willing to play fair and have happily brought many civilians into the mix.

One such civilian is Yuna Yang, a thief by blood and trade. Her intelligence has kept her alive this long, but she’ll need more than that to survive the Undone. She’ll need the help of a hero - and a few friends.

Writing:

I have a lot of complicated feelings about Captain Marvel Vol. 2. I didn't hate it, but I also feel like I could have loved it more. This is a strange place for me to be in, as I'm pretty much a huge Captain Marvel fangirl.

This volume's character development is on point, especially for newer characters like Yuna. She got her moments to learn and grow, as did her romantic counterpart. I also enjoyed all the cameos, which included the Marvel family.

The final battle was overall pretty solid, giving moments to each of the main characters involved (especially Carol and Yuna). As with any good Captain Marvel fight, they walked away having learned something important about themselves. So I love that bit.

There were so many characters brought into the fold for the conclusion of this tale, and I feel like they didn't get enough screen time to warrant it. For example, Phyla is a great character, and I would have loved to see her get another moment or two. Maybe I'm being nit-picky. The same goes for the conclusion of Yuna's arc. Her story will always feel incomplete if we don't see her again after this. So, I guess I'll have to hope we'll see her again!

Art:

The artwork in Captain Marvel Vol. 2 was perfection. The colors were vibrant and fun—as were the battles! A few major moments steal the show in this volume, and the artwork does it justice. Given everything going on, I imagine it was hard to get the scale right for that final battle, so I have to give some credit.

Fans of Captain Marvel will know what I mean when I say that the artwork in Captain Marvel Vol. 2 fits her style.

Highlights:
Superhero Drama
New Character - Yuna Tang
Family Drama
Negative Zone & Nega-Bands

Another 10 issues, another conclusion for another Carol series. I guess after running for 50 last time, I shouldn't be surprised, but it's a shame this series didn't get more of a chance.

The Undone resolves everything from the previous arc, bringing back all of your favourite Marvels like Phyla and Genis, and putting both Yuna Yang and Lenore in a happy place, in case we never get to see them again. The villain gets suitably butt-kicked (in a very gross way), and the artwork's pretty solid too, with contributions from previous volume artists Jan Bazaldua and Ruairi Coleman.

Maybe a little less impressive than the last series, but still just as much fun, and very much all the good parts of Captain Marvel.

2.5 rounded down. Maybe it was because of the time between trades but this was just eh to me. Don't get me wrong Yuna and Leonore are a fun crushes-to-enemies-to-lovers and any team up with Wiccan and Hulkling is good. But it just felt like a bit of a slog. Like they had to keep it going to issue 10 when it could have finished on issue 9 or 8. The Omen got a bit overly detailed and whatever with its whole deal but that can happen with cosmic-level bad guys.

I wish this run had lasted longer, but at least we got this fun, action-packed exploration of the characters connected to the original Captain Marvel as a family, and what family really means. I loved it.

What a fun and sweet miniseries! This is my first time reading a Captain Marvel comic, and I think I chose a great starting point. I loved this. I am a sucker for stories about friendship and found family, and that's what this series is all about. It's exactly what I wanted. I love the Marvels now!

This was a fun weird ending to the series like I love hw it went from the omen and Genis confronting her family and it feels like a spiritual sequel from "Last of the marvels" story from Kelly's run and I love that and you see how the family element gets brought in and how they have to contend with this and then the fate of Genis and his story is emotional here like what he goes through and there's Rick his old buddy and then the big battle!

The coming of the undone and then how Yuna rescues her gf Leo and that story angle is emotional and the romance between them is well done and then Carol going inside the undone and realizing that part of the negative zone is inside her and it gets weird wobbly explanation but the point is we see the final battle between THE UNDONE and Captain Marvel and the final fate of Leo and Yuna!

I really like the romance angle and its well built here and the villain should have been big and threatening but I feel like this story was supposed to be a lot longer but got cut sort because of the cancellation of the run but still the writer is able to give a good conclusion and bring the family element to this book which was a surprising thing to read and makes it better! Looking forward to what's next for Carol!

If you're going to end a series...
GO BIG

(and showcase the entire family)

The Undone is here and Carol and Yuna are still trying to deal with their corrupted Nega-Bands. Better marshal all the forces and get Hulkling, Wiccan, Lauri-Ell, and Quasar (basically anybody with a connection to the bands and Mar-Vell). Family first in this ultimate battle.

Maybe there's even a way to fix that hole in the chest of Genis?
(Boy, we can only hope. That character got steamrolled over so many times by different writers)

this was unfortunately not as fun as i wanted it to be :( the new supporting characters were cool (would love to know more about yuna's crime family lol) but our time with them was so short and mostly they were just in peril and not chilling. maybe what i wanted was more chilling in new york city and not a giant monster with eyes everywhere? the purple and gold stars look was so pretty though. hope to see another carol solo title soon!!
