Accidentally inherited this back from my dad, who died not long ago. I cried reading it; There were two or three of the poems that hit home for me. As the intro says, they tried to cover a range of scenarios (within the limit of ten poems in this slim volume) and include a variety of authors. It makes me wonder what my top ten poems about fatherhood would be, if I was curating a collection like this. These mini collections on selected themes are a lovely idea as a small pamphlet of ten makes for easy reading, though it is inevitably tricky to have the broad appeal they are hoping for with so few poems to work with.
Ten celebratory poems about fathers from differing perspectives. A healthy mix, including classics by Seamus Heany and C Day Lewis and the more contemporary voices of Roger McGough and Michael Rosen. This was a lovely gift from a friend and easily digestible in pamphlet form.
