It's the end of summer break, but with ends come new beginnings. A new school, new students, and a new you, or at least that's what Ella Jacobs is hoping for. What better way to celebrate a fresh start than with her best friend, who is currently suffering from a fresh start she didn't ask for as well, on the beach, getting drunk on margaritas, and reading their coveted smut novels.
When Ella gets between a hot nerd and his frisbee on the beach, the vacation takes a turn for the smutty, that is, until their steamy night gets interrupted. Ella can't stop thinking about what would've happened if they hadn't been interrupted but chalks it up to a fond memory she'll have from her last night in Jamaica.
When she starts her first teacher prep day as the eighth grade Social Studies teacher for Valley Creek Middle School, she's ready to put the past behind her. That is, until she meets the Chemistry teacher across the hall, the same hot nerd, Liam, that she met on vacation.
After everything she went through at her last school, she swore she would never date a colleague, but when fate, and the school principal, keep intervening, will she be able to resist finishing what they started?
I heard this author is the Hemingway of dick jokes. The Charlotte Brontë of unnecessary pop culture references. The opposite of Jane Austen in literally every way.
This may not be the next American classic, and is probably mediocre to most, but I heard the author worked really hard on this.
And that she’s also super hot.
Also it’s me. I wrote this book.
And yeah, it’s probably cheating that I gave myself 5 stars but give me a break it’s probably the only one l’ll ever get anyway!

A delightful and heartwarming book that will make you believe in love at first sight. The story follows two characters, Ella and Liam, who have a chance encounter that is a highly improbable meet cute.. The MCs are both adorable and funny, and their chemistry is undeniable. The author does a fantastic job of creating lovable and relatable characters that readers will root for from the very beginning. The book is filled with quirky and charming moments that will have you smiling and laughing out loud. Overall, it is a fun and endearing read that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. It's the perfect book for anyone looking for a feel-good story that will make you believe in the power of love. Highly recommended for fans of romantic comedies and meet-cute style books.
This one is by far one of my biggest surprises of the year. I bought this after seeing a post of super cheap books on Amazon, it cost me less than $2, so I wasn't sure what to think. Prime example of don't judge a book by its price. This was so adorable and addictive I read it in a little over 24 hours. The MMC (Liam) is a top tier book boyfriend. The banter was so good it had me laughing and kicking my feet right along with them. The FMC is just so relatable, insecure, but loud and goofy. The anxiety and self doubt she deals with is so understandable, but her ability to pretend to be strong and confident is what made her feel real to me. There a few grammatical errors in here, so if that's something you struggle ignoring this may be difficult, I found they didn't distract me from the book at all. Such an adorable quick read
Bought it for the dedication and it sets the tone. Hilarious, fun, and a little smutty. So many romance novels are based on characters with a unbalanced power-relationship, whether it's age gap, income gap or, ya'know, murderer/felon and innocent as can be. So it's refreshing to read something about people with real jobs and realistic issues.
"Meet cute" lives up to its name and I find myself relating to a lot of the inner dialogue and overthinking from both MCs. I would have loved to see some themes more fleshed out and not rushed through to get to a resolution, but it holds its own. Might have benefitted from a second round of proof reading, but it doesn't take too much away from the overall enjoyment the story provides.
A fast paced read that I couldn’t set down! Funny, smutty, emotional rollercoaster. Like the MC’s relationship, this book is a TEASE until you finally get the resolve ;)
I do feel the issue at the end was verrryy quick with a fast resolve (within the last 30 pages of the book) which made the end feel rushed, but it was satisfying nonetheless.
As a teacher, this was a hilarious and fun read that’ll make me sus of any relationship I see in my own school going forward😂
The dedication page is what sold me on reading the book. There were some great smutty scenes, but the story felt half told. The time jumps were clearly there to give the feeling of getting more. That just wasn't the case for me. While mental health is a prominent role for our FMC, it's largely addressed. I would've like to hear more from the MMC after contentious scenes. Overall, super cute story. I just wanted me from it.
I loved the banter in this book. I loved the FMCs spunky personality and with her best friend as well. This book touched a lot of personal spots of myself and I definitely felt a lot of this book in my soul. I enjoyed that is based in Indy as that’s where I’m front so it gave it a little more home town type feel and I could relate. This book was for sure a relatable one for me and I cannot wait to read the next one!
Loved this book!! I was a little bit of a reading slump and actually not finishing books- which I never do!! I couldn’t read this book fast enough to find out if Ella and Liam could get their timing right! Literally wanting to argue with Ella at times, but also able to relate. A cute love story with SPICE!! Can’t wait for the next read by Haley!

Image being on vacation with your best friend and you meet the most incredibly attractive guy that you almost hook up with, just to get back home and realize that he works right across the hall from you?
Follow El and Liam in this dual POV romance as they try to figure out how to work together as friends while being pulled together from attraction. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶🌶
The banter in this book is unhinged and so good. I highly recommend!
He was a science teacher, she was a history teacher (can i make it any more obvious?) I had fun reading this until the third act break up and then i got bored. the romantic gesture at the end was silly and i feel like it was a lazy end to the book tbh. I loved 95% of the book though!!!

I really wasn’t a fan of this one, but I was so sure I thought I would love it. The characters were just so immature that it was hard to find any of them charming. I didn’t really think the jokes were all that funny. Maybe I just read this one at the wrong time, or maybe it just wasn’t for me.
