Beauty and Beast!

Those poor dogs, their grit and determination will steal your heart, as will the grit and determination of Saffron and Harper. They have such huge hearts but are frequently judged unfairly by people and therefore prefer to spend their time with animals.
A dangerous and emotional rollercoaster as the race is on to get Beauty to safety and to Beast's side.

I would give this book 4.5 stars. I liked the way Harper and Saffron connected over their love of animals. I was not thrilled with Saffron's sister Sandy. Something about her seemed suspicious.

Although Harper and Saffron were not always physically in the same location, I appreciated the way they always seemed to stay connected. They had great chemistry.

The search for Beauty was filled with danger, suspense, mystery, and intrigue. With Harper and Saffron being determined to reunite Beauty with Beast, how could they go wrong? The last few chapters were pretty intense.

I really enjoyed this book and was glad to see Harper and Saffron get their HEA. My only issues had to deal with feeling like there was incomplete information or feeling like there were open issues that required closure.

What happened with the Mississippi training facility and the people involved with that? Only one person's identity was explained. Why? Also, what was the deal with Sandy? Saffron thought she was keeping something from her. Sandy just faded out of the picture.

This type of thing makes me a little crazy. I know what the next book will be about, but certain things in this book left me hanging.

A 3.5 romantic suspense read.

I really enjoy this series that revolves around rescuing war dogs and of course there's romance that sweeten up everything. And in this book I love the sweet romance part, love the banter between Harper and Saffron, they're just perfect for each other, for the suspense mystery part it's a solid one, I enjoyed it. One thing that a bit let down was the K9 story is not as much as I expected it to be, I wished there's more about the dogs, in the action, in the ending, I just want more, it's definetely less than the previous books. Overall, this one is a solid read, I love the romance part and wished more for Beauty and Beast story, it's an entertaining easy-to-read romantic suspense.

When two dogs spend time together they form a bond. Many times if they are separated they will pine for the each other and possibly try to get back to their bonded friend. This is what happens with Beauty and Beast. Both are War Dogs that due to injuries have spent time together healing and bonding. Beauty recovers faster so they are separated. Beauty does everything she can to get back to Beast.

Harper volunteers to find out what happened to the dogs. His surgeries to help him heal from his wounds has been postponed. He is having a hard time as a result of the injuries he suffered and his looks can be scary to people. When he gets to the rescue he meets Saffron and her passion for saving the dogs tops his. Harper goes off to find Beauty but keeps Saffron updated and along the way they bond. As with all of the K9 Files books rescuing the dog is not easy especially with Harper's disabilities. This book does an amazing job of showing the different sides of humanity and how a little kindness can go a long way. Many times the people that Harper encounters don't want to talk to him but once he mentions Beauty they open up and overcome any fears they may have when looking at him. I also really liked the strength of Saffron. She stands up to anyone who doesn't agree with her and then turns around and loves on all of the animals she has rescued. Although really who is rescuing who when it comes to the animals, Saffron & Harper? This is another great addition to the K9 Files series!!.

This book will pull at your heartstrings. Harper's surgery has been postponed so he is sent to look for two missing war dogs. They have been a team and have now been separated. When Harper find Beast, he's not doing well. Saffron has Beast but knows he needs Beauty to heal. So, the hunt is on for Beauty. There's suspense, bad guys and also showing how strong and loyal the two dogs are to each other and what Beauty goes thru to get to Beast. Also, the human connection with Harper and Saffron is strong. Wonderful characters and so glad to see this HEA.

Harper heads to Louisiana to check on Beauty and Beast, two war dogs. He finds Beast at a facility ran by vet Saffron. Beauty is lost in the wind after being sent to a facility in Mississippi. As he tracks Beauty he grows closer to Saffron. Loved this book. Saffron's acceptance of Harper's injuries is so heart warming. I volunteered to read this book via booksprout.

I love this series, and this novel is another winner.
Harper needs to find war dog Beauty before Beast gives up hope.
Veterinarian Saffron is a die hard animal lover, and she's all in to save Beast, even if it means going on the hunt for missing dog Beauty. Harper arrives just in time to take on the almost impossible task of finding Beauty, and meets Saffron.
Even with danger involved, Harper is still determined to find Beauty, and reunite her with Beast.
A relationship slowly develops between Harper and Saffron which makes the story an even sweeter read.

This book adds a bit of a twist to usual War Dog checkup. Both dogs are in facilities rather than with private citizens. Well, they were until one was sent for more intense care and the other disappeared.

Harper Snowden travels first to where the male dog is known to be. There he meets Saffron a veterinarian surgeon who is really concerned about the dog they call Beast. Apparently, he's bonded with the female he was traveling with but now they've been separated. Saffron has no information on when the female went missing from the other facility, she only knows that it seems suspicious.

After seeing Beast and promising to do his best to bring beauty to him, Harper faces either traveling more or finding somewhere to stay the night. Saffron solves that by offering him a place to stay the night. She also calls her sister to come over and bring dinner. Dinner is pleasant and Harper leaves to head to the training facility in early the next day, texting his thanks to Saffron.

What he finds when he gets there is the lie that Beauty never arrived, but someone else says the owner's son took her outside and she got away. He reports all this to Badger who is going to look closer at the facility. After meeting with the father, Harper heads off and is being followed. However, his last sheriff stop gives him a clue. Milly saw the dog, but since they consider her a 'crazy cat lady' they didn't give it much thought.

I have to say I really loved Milly. Not only does she have good information for Harper, but she also recognizes that he's been shot when she sees his shirt full of blood. She gives him first aid and a place to stay the night. He calls Saffron once he's settled to update her.

With the stakes higher than before, Harper continues on the track he believes Beauty is taking. He knows he has to get to her before whoever is following him does.

This one is truly a hold your breath, cross your fingers and pray story. I couldn't put it down.

As usual, Dale Mayer mesmerizes her readers with another spellbinding suspense. She also adds to this excitement with her creation of two unusual couples that readers will immediately fall in love with.

Harper is a retired SEAL who was severely injured on his last mission. Besides his injuries, he also has a large, ugly scar on the side of his face. When his latest surgery is postponed, he decides to follow in his brother’s footsteps and help locate a missing War Dog.

Saffron is a veterinarian, who owns her own clinic. She has recently taken in two dogs that were seriously injured on their last mission. Since their names are unknown, everybody calls them Beauty and Beast, for obvious reasons.

Beauty recovers first and is then moved to a larger training facility to complete her rehabilitation. Sadly, Beast needs to stay behind to continue his treatment with Saffron.

Saffron does not realize that Beauty and Beast are bonded partners that have never been apart from each other. Beast is despondently miserable and slowly dying without his partner by his side. Beauty is also miserable. So she runs away, determined to return to Beast. When the government finds out, Harper is sent to find her.

When Harper and Saffron first meet, their major concern is to keep Beauty and Beast alive until they can safely reunite the two dogs. On the trail, someone shoots at him and Beauty. Therefore, Harper spends most of the book painfully following Beauty while dodging bullets for the both of them.

Meanwhile, Harper and Saffron slowly realize that they are attracted to each other. As the two of them spend a lot of time on the phone helping each other, they are becoming very aware that they have a lot in common. Therefore, it is easy for Saffron to ignore his scars and his injuries and fall in love with the gently, loving man who loves animals as much as she does.

This exciting page-turner is filled with non-stop action as Harper and Beauty run for their lives as they attempt to safely return home to their soul-mates!

This is book nineteen in Dale Mayer's wonderful "The K9 Files" series.
Mason and Kat were feeling smug, another war dog had been traced and yet another army vet had found romance.
Harper Snowdon had had his surgery put back and needed something worthwhile to fill his time, his brother Landon had taken the challenge to find a war dog that had gone off the radar, he found the dog and he also found love, perhaps he could do the same thing although with his scary facial injuries and prosthetic arm and leg he doubted it.
Harper was tasked with finding not one but two war dogs, they had worked together and had been injured, Beast was wasting away in a veterinary surgery in Louisiana whilst Beauty, who had a leg missing, had been taken to a specialist unit in Mississippi.
Vet Saffron who owned the Louisiana surgery was so worried about Beast, she was sure that he was pinning for Beauty, she didn't know how long she could keep him alive, she was delighted when Harper turned up to help.
Harper discovered that Beauty had escaped from the Mississippi clinic, he thought that she was trying to find her way back to Louisiana and Beast but someone was trying to stop her......who and why ?
This heartwarming story follows Saffron's nurturing of Beast, her fight to keep him alive, of Harper tracking Beauty and the danger they both faced, of the lovely people that he met on his journey and of the shared interests and growing closeness with Saffron..had Mason and Kat's magic worked again ?.

This is book nineteen in The K-9 Files series and it is Harper and Saffron’s story. Harper is taking on a war dog case to keep him occupied while waiting for the surgery that he needs after getting badly injured and it will also help his friends out. Saffron is a vet and she has a problem on her hands as she has given medical attention to Beauty and Beast who are war dogs but when Beauty was released Saffron was told that she would be taken to a training facility but ends up missing and she knows how important it is to find Beauty as it could turn into a life or death situation for the pair of dogs who have a special connection and bond. Harper and Saffron work together to find Beauty and reunite her with Beast but things become very complicated as danger is all around them watching and waiting for the right time to strike as they don’t want to dogs to reunite for there own reasons but who are they and what are there reasons for doing this. The more time that Harper and Saffron are together and communicate they form there own connection and bond but will they be able to fulfill what they set out to do and then be able to see where there own relationship goes or will everything be taken away from them only time will tell what the outcome and future is for them in the long run. I absolutely love this book and series with all it’s twists and turns along the way and the emotions that it makes you feel and that is what makes it definitely a must read and I can’t wait to read more books in the future.

This story is so emotional, inspirational, and heart-stopping but also an exciting underdog (literally) win. I loved Harper! This seriously injured war hero is not having a very happy life right now. He is disfigured in a way people react badly to him and he’s in pain from poor prosthetics. His much-needed surgeries have been put off yet again. Harper needs something to get his mind off his troubles and searching for a missing War Dog is just the thing.
Saffron is a Veterinarian who owns a specialty practice. She has custody of a very sick War Dog she named Beast. He is not doing very well. Beast had bonded with another War Dog who is now missing. Named Beauty, she also has injuries. For some reason, these two dogs were separated and Beauty ended up at another facility a couple of hundred miles away. Somehow Beauty escaped and she is heading back to Beast. Harper is tracking her down but it looks like something fishy is going on at that facility…and now someone is tailing Harper and shooting at him. Why? Who? Saffron and Harper are in constant contact and a true friendship, even more, is developing between them. They are kindred spirits. This beautiful story will have you in tears many times but it is also very inspiring. Great characters, an awesome story, and cheering for the underdog, can’t get much better. Harper & Saffron

An inspiring and heart-warming story of courage and determination by both human and canine.

I love Beauty’s fortitude to keep moving towards her goal despite numerous obstacles and debilitating injuries. Her determination is admirable and heart-wrenching knowing the distance she is traveling, her condition and the danger she is in along the way. My heart hurts for her and I can’t put this book down, I have to know what happens. Animal lovers will feel the worry and angst for Beauty as well as Harper as he unfailingly searches for her.

I also have great respect for the love Saffron has for the animals in her care and for animals as a whole. Her dedication to keeping Beast alive knowing his survival is hanging by a thread until Beauty can be reunited with him is gut-wrenching and beautiful at the same time. Saffron’s passion is wholehearted and well known.

The love story here is two-fold, the war dogs have a bond humans just can’t understand or give a second thought to, but they can and do form a special attachment to each other humans don’t often realize. Harper and Saffron experience an unusual journey full of intensity, danger and heartbreaking emotion. I would have enjoyed this story to have more details towards the ending to better satisfy the romantic in me, but this is an excellent story and totally emotional - in a good way!

This is another great read in this series about injured military personnel searching for missing war dogs and in the process finding the person hat completes them This is Harper's story he saw his brother find not only the dog he was sent to fins but also the woman that completes him and he wants the same When his surgery to correct facial scarring is deferred it gives him the chance He has to find Beauty a war dog who has escaped from the retraining centre she has been sent to They believe she is trying to get back to Beast a male war dog she has bonded with who was left at their last stop for further treatment but he is pining for her and not doing well. Saffron is the vet caring for Beast and she is about to set of looking for Beauty when Harper arrives. Soon lies are uncovered and the training centre seems to be at the centre of it all With someone determined to stop Harper by any means will he be able to find Beauty in time to save Beast and can the dogs and he and Saffron have a future

If I have any criticism of this story it is that a few things where left unexplained what was going on with Sandy Saffron's sister and her marriage and what happened to the Mississippi dog training facility

This suspense filled story will keep you on the edge of your seat and the characters will captivate you .Harper let his brother go in his place to find a missing k9 an he finds love too.Harper admits he's jealous but who could love him with the scar on his face most people stare some run away .When he asks Kat and Badger if he can find a missing dog for them because his surgery has been put off for six months At first Kat is afraid that he isn't strong enough .but Badger says if Harper says he's good enough to go let him.So they tell him he's checking on a bonded pair one is at an animal hospital but his mate hasn't arrived at the training center so he needs to find the female or the male will die an maybe the female will too.When he arrives at the hospital he's approached by a beautiful woman he expects her to be offended by his scar but she says its nothing an even if the surgery doesn't work its the man inside that counts when he gives her his card saying he's going to find beauty but he wants to see beast.The dog looks bad an Saffron tells him if they don't find Beauty soon that beast will give up an die. This story will fill your heart with the way these too people find beauty and love at the same time.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

How heart breaking but sweet was this story? Poor Beast and poor Beauty, what tough time they both had been through and still suffering after being separated. So many miles but even injured badly she was determined to get back to him. Thankfully not everyone was against them and with one looking after Beast and trying to keep him alive, the other is searching and reaching out to try and find her. Allies are routing for the 4 of them but enemies are trying to stop 2 of them. With the chase to success really on this was worrying and tense, full of suspense end excitement. Then you have the human duo connecting as strongly as the canine duo, I call it a match made in heaven, both loving animals and wanting to help all they can is an added bonus. Fabulous characters and Harper is definitely one to understand and sympathise with the dogs. I heaved a massive sigh of relief at the end of this one because I was really worried that one or4 other of the dogs wouldn't survive and at times even Harper. So grateful for the HEA. And the next story comes to Britain, though up in Scotland so way up the map from me.

Waiting for rescheduled treatment, scarred and disfigured Harper heads out to find a missing pair of War Dogs and whilst he finds one with vet Saffron whom she has named Beast he is doing badly and missing the other dog as they were a bonded pair. So there is some urgency so that he can keep Beast alive while he tracks the other dog (nicknamed Beauty) who had been taken to a huge training facility in Mississippi before going missing. Saffron is relieved that someone is tracking down Beauty even though Harper is a distraction as he gives her regular updates. As Harper gets closer to Beauty’s location, it becomes obvious that someone wants to make sure the War Dog doesn’t reach her destination. But why? And how far will this person go to take down the dog?

I enjoyed this story with the damaged hero Harper who just wanted to help the two dogs and vet Saffron who could see past his injuries to the man within. I loved the drama of tracking down Beauty and any connected danger to that. Well written and easy to understand and feel - especially the ordeal of the two dogs who had been separated.

Harper Snowden was jealous. His brother, Landon, had taken on the job of finding a War Dog when Harper had to turn Badger down. Not only did Landon find the dog, but he also found love. Harper didn’t feel that he could ever find love with the way his body was. So, when his surgeries were delayed, he took a chance on asking Badger if he could have a turn at finding a dog. And maybe deep down, he was hoping he’d get the girl, too.
Saffron owned a unique clinic that helped animals. Including prosthetics for horses and other animals to support their quality of life. And it hurt her if she couldn’t help them. Like the War Dog they’d received that had bonded with another dog who wasn’t with him.
Just as Saffron was about to search for the female dog, Harper came to check on the male. They’d named them Beast and Beauty. And he set out to find Beauty so the dogs could heal together. Easier said than done.
A page-turning, tear-dropping story that I couldn’t put down until the end.

(4.5) There is so much subtle information woven into this story that intensifies the emotions. Harper has a scar down the side of his face (along with missing hand and foot) and people react with stares, whispers, backing up. You can see it happening in real life with our vets and other people. I love the way Harper deals with it, his belief in his self. As he searches for Beauty things happen and he is not sure who to trust. He meets a cat lady, an older lady taking in the strays, trying to help. He follows Beauty's path as she heads back to Beast. Saffron started her own Veterinarian Services helping animals in need of prosthetics. I really like Saffron, her strength her compassion. When Beauty makes it within striking distance was some of the most heart wrenching moments. There are other issues woven through that gives one pause. I really enjoyed reading Harper . Harper Snowden is a double amputee missing a hand and foot . He also has a terrible scar on his face . When is surgery is postponed he asked to work on the war dog program tasked to find and locate two war dogs that are injured and are a bonded pair . They were sent to a clinic in Mississippi the male stayed there to heal , the female went to a training center in Louisiana . Once there she some how escaped and is missing . Harper is use to the looks he gets when people see his scar but finds himself surprised that it doesn't seem to bother veterinarian Saffron . Upon arrival at her animal Clinic he finds the male dog referred to by Beast not in very good shape . Once Harper starts investigating the disappearance of Beauty and searching for here he finds himself in danger . As Harper and Saffron talk and spend time together their attraction ignites.
They both work hard to get Beauty and Beast back together . This story is sensational and Suspenseful and action packed . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

An unforgettable, action-packed, suspenseful romance. It is well-written with relatable characters. It will tear at your heartstrings and have you rooting for the couple as well as the dogs. They say Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that Beauty is only skin deep. It takes someone special to look past the exterior and focus on the interior.

Harper’s surgery has been postponed. “Part of the surgery he was hoping to get done was to make sure his face wasn’t quite so ugly.” They were also going to fit him with a new prosthetic. He’s left frustrated with nothing to do. So he offers to help a friend who retrieves lost war dogs. His assignment is to find a missing female dog who ran away from a training facility.

Saffron is a specialized veterinarian. Among the various unique operations she performs, she also did prosthetics for dogs. She has been looking after Beast, an injured war dog. “He was not doing good and she knew if he had his partner with him again, it would be a whole different story.” But she had run away and no one knew where she was.

I enjoy this series involving the rescue of war dogs. There is romance, a connection between the hero and heroine that sweetens things up. The romance part grows whilst both Harper and Saffron are apart. The two banter, she shows her concern for him, and people open up to him because he is himself. They connect and the connection grows for them both from the get go. Besides the romantic aspect there is suspense and mystery which we learn about as the plot progresses and that is solid. There may be writers freedom with some of the things Saffron as a vet did in order to assist Harper with his search for the injured war dog, Beauty, but I don't believe it should affect your thoughts on the actual story objective, that of reuniting Beauty with Beast and connecting Harper with Saffron. Saffron's sister Sandy plays a significant part in a number of chapters and has her own story to tell. Maybe it needs to be told at some point, but in this story she was just being a thorn in Saffron's life as she traveled the path to finding her happy ever after. An enjoyable read.

Its a unique book about the different side of humanity and what some people will do to take care of animals. Harper and Saffron, are two main characters who connect over the love of animals and their chemistry couldn't help but explode. I found the book got better as I got further into it.

The book has a lot to offer with its wonderful characters, realistic scenes, twists and unpredictable turns,
action-packed, suspense, mystery, intrigue and romance. It's easy-to-read and has a nice dialog between the characters.

When Harper gets an assignment to pass the time before his surgeries, his task is to find a missing K9 retired from the military. What he finds is Saffron, a vet who has a passion for all animals in need and is looking after another K9, Beast, who has formed a bond with Beauty, and Harper needs to find her to reunite the K9’s, otherwise Beast may not have the will to live. While on the hunt, he has run ins with others who don’t want Beauty to make it back and Harper uses his skills to find her before anyone else….will it be in time.
A good read with a bit of suspense and good characters. I would have liked these two to have spent more time together as they were apart for most of the read and formed a bond over texts and phone calls and I would have liked to have known what happened with her sister and her ex, since it was mentioned multiple times but never explained which was confusing at times.

This story starts with Harper still healing after injuries sustained in the service, however he still wants to help search for a missing war dog while waiting for his next surgery. It turns out this search is for 2 dogs as they were injured at the same time and had bonded during recovery. The male dog had remained in a facility as he was too injured to travel and the female disappeared after transfer to another place. Named Beauty and the Beast by the veterinarian Saffron who was caring for the injured male dog. Beast was mourning the loss of Beauty and not getting better. It includes people who didn't care but more so it was about honor, perseverance and people who cared a lot about others! Great book! I'm looking forward to more.

But Beauty has mysteriously gone missing and lies seem to be hindering the search. On top of it all, Harper isn't the only one trying to track her down either. Danger follows as Harper & Saffron go above & beyond to reunite Beauty with her Beast.

Dale Mayer continues to put out great storylines about battle-worn warriors saving the lives of K9 war dogs while finding romance in the process. Her K9 series is definitely worth the read!

Brilliant story of both Beauty and Beast, human and canine. Saffron is a well regarded, talented and successful veterinarian. She has the war dog she calls
Beast. But Beast is losing ground without Beauty, to whom he is bonded. Harper has been sent to find Beauty, who escaped her previous vet clinic. The assumption is she's searching for Beast. Harper and Saffron are kindred spirits. They both know they must get the bonded dogs back to each other. In doing so they discover each other. Harper the scarred, damaged, empathetic veteran and Saffron the lovely, hardworking vet and animal lover. Bringing the dogs together becomes more dangerous than either realize, but Harper and Saffron coming together is the best that can happen. And it does.

It's also the story of Harper who has been tasked with finding Beauty and getting her to Beast who is at Saffron's veterinary clinic. Beast is pining for Beauty and is declining fast. Unfortunately someone doesn't want Beauty to make it and now Harper is targeted as well. Two animal lovers do their best to help Beauty and Beast find their happily ever after and maybe one for them too.
Loved the story and series. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is such a heart warming series and always a pleasure to read. I can't believe I've read 19 of them already.
Harper is medically retired from the military, missing limbs and dreadfully scared across his face. While waiting for yet more surgery he's at a loose end and takes on a mission to hunt down a missing war dog. She's also missing a leg and on the run from cruelty. She's determined to travel miles to get back to her bonded male dog. Harper is tracking her, only he's not alone, who is out to stop him and at what cost? Of course every rescuer falls in love in this series, in this case the interest comes from the female vet. Will there be a happy ending for them all?
This is a fantastic series, I highly recommend it.
